Foreign Policy: Pompeo seeks a permanent diplomatic withdrawal from Baghdad
Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo is trying to make the withdrawal from his country's embassy in Baghdad always, according to Foreign Policy magazine, quoting State Department sources. In May, Pompeo ordered a partial evacuation of diplomats from the US embassy in Iraq amid escalating tensions with Iran.
At the moment, many State Department officials have indicated that they have been told that the reduction in the number of embassy staff will always be a reality, a move that would leave only a few of the staff of the US Embassy to take on important missions, such as confronting Iran on the diplomatic front, Hundreds of diplomats have been stranded in Washington, without an embassy to return to. But the magazine quoted a Foreign Office spokesman as saying that the description of the withdrawal was "inaccurate", adding that "no decision has been made on permanent staffing levels, but a review of staff is underway."
However, a senior ministry official familiar with the magazine's internal deliberations said: "They have already made a secret decision to not return these people." "But they do not actually describe it as withdrawal, they just say they are reviewing the order to leave."
However, only a small part of its staff are directly involved in key diplomatic functions, including political, economic and public diplomacy officials, and the majority are contractors, security personnel, or officials from federal agencies Other, including the intelligence community.

Iraq's call for a regional conference
15/07/2019
BAGHDAD - Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hakim warned that the region is not ready for a new war because the ongoing war on terrorism is not yet over.
"The best way to remove the current tension in the region is in the negotiations," Hakim said in Baghdad at a joint press conference with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mugherini. He added that Iraq should not become a battleground in the current crisis between the United States and Iran, but should play a role in solving the crisis as well as the efforts of a number of countries such as Kuwait and Oman. For her part, Mugherini said that dialogue is the best way to resolve tension rather than escalation, which she said would lead to serious consequences for all. The European Union supported the idea of convening the regional conference called for by Iraq. Mugherini's visit comes at a time when regional and international parties are trying to ease the tense atmosphere in the Gulf region amid tensions between Iran on the one hand and the United States and its allies on the other.
On her first trip to Iraq since 2014, Mugrini said she had discussed with Iraqi officials the need to reduce escalation and follow paths of dialogue to prevent the serious consequences of wrong calculations. "I spoke to the Iraqis at length about the growing tensions in the region, the need first and foremost to avoid escalation and to avoid any misjudgment that could have very serious consequences, first and foremost for Iraq, as well as the need to reduce escalation and find and build avenues for dialogue and coexistence. together".

A simple way to protect your heart is better than 5 drugs
2019/7/14 13:01
[Follow-up]
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A person's daily calorie cut of 300 calories will protect his heart from many health problems, even if he is in a healthy weight, according to a new study.
The researchers said that this can be achieved by fasting intermittently, and resist the desire to eat one slice of candy, according to CNN.
Within two years, researchers at Duke University in North Carolina, a study sample of three sites in the United States, observed that those who cut calories in their daily diets lowered their blood pressure, as well as low levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) Concentrations of triglycerides present in the blood.
The study's co-author, William Krauss, said exercise and diet were the best ways to reduce the risk of heart disease.
"There are no combined drugs in the market that can effect the effect of calorie restriction on heart health."
The study involved 218 adults in the United States between 21-50 years of age, three years of age, 143 of whom were asked to start a diet that reduced 25 percent of their daily calories, while the rest were asked to continue with their normal diet.
Some kept caloric restrictions and ate 2467 calories a day before the start of the study, during which they consumed 2170 calories and others failed to comply with their restrictions.
The researchers monitored cholesterol levels, blood pressure and triglyceride concentrations over two years, noting that these factors contribute to an increased risk of heart disease.
Heart disease affects more than 600,000 Americans a year, one in four deaths in America, due to heart disease, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The US dietary guidelines indicate that adult women need an estimated 1,600 to 2,400 calories a day.
Adult men need about 2,000 to 3,000 calories, depending on the factors of age, height, weight and level of physical activity.
