America reveals the details of the new exemption for Iraq to import electricity from Iran

A US State Department official said that the United States renewed the exemption granted to Iraq to import Iranian electricity, but this time for a shorter period of time, adding that Washington would re-evaluate whether it would renew the exemption again if a "credible government" was formed in Iraq.
The US official said that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo "granted this brief extension of the exemption, to allow time for the formation of a credible government," adding that the exemption "will expire on May 26."
Iraqi Electricity Minister Loay al-Khatib had said that his country would need between three and four years to stop importing energy from its neighbor.
In statements to S&P Global Platts, part of Standard & Poor's Credit Ratings, oil and gas projects in Iraq will take several years before they reach their production capacity and stop relying on Iranian gas, Al-Khatib said in statements to Standard & Poor's Global Platts.
He explained that "these three to four years must be a timetable without interruption with a government that has full executive authority and without any interference from political entities and in an environment that welcomes investments and multinational participation."
The United States has repeatedly granted exemptions to Baghdad to continue importing Iranian gas and electricity despite its sanctions on Tehran. The last two exemptions were limited to a period of 30 days.
It was expected that Iraq would invest $ 10 billion in oil and gas projects in order to end its dependence on Iran within four years. However, no progress was made on the projects.

Saudi Arabia "anticipates" the date of the OPEC agreement and begins to reduce oil production immediately

a source disclosed to Bloomberg Agency that Saudi Arabia started to reduce its oil production a while before the OPEC + agreement to cut production entered into force, which is supposed to start implementation next May.
Saudi state oil company Aramco is reducing production from 12 million barrels per day to 8.5 million barrels.
According to the source, "Aramco" can reach 8.5 million barrels per day, which is the target level reached under the "OPEC +" agreement, before May 1, when the date for starting production reductions will begin.
Under the "OPEC +" agreement, which was reached on April 12, the countries participating in the agreement will reduce production in May and June of this year by 9.7 million barrels per day.
As an indication of the importance of the "OPEC +" agreement, Bloomberg says that due to the production of excess oil on demand, global crude stocks increase by 50 million barrels per week. If this continues, the stocks will be filled by next June.
Saudi Arabia is not the only country from the "OPEC +" group, which started to implement production cuts ahead of schedule, as Kuwait, Algeria and Nigeria spoke of taking a similar step.
