Fitch Says Vietnam Economy on Strong Footing
Sunday, June 10, 2018
Vietnam’s economy is on a more positive growth momentum than last year, with strong foreign direct investment capital inflows, increased foreign exchange reserves and strictly controlled foreign debts, according to Fitch Ratings.
At the ‘Fitch on Vietnam’ forum held in Hanoi on Friday, Sagarika Chandra, Fitch’s associate director and primary sovereign analyst for Vietnam, said Fitch Ratings last month upgraded Vietnam’s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating to “BB” from “BB-” with a stable outlook, thanks to the country’s improved external buffers and strong macroeconomic performance, VNA reported.
Compared to other emerging countries as well as other “BB” rated peers, Vietnam currently has a high growth rate, Chandra said, adding that the country’s gross domestic product growth accelerated to 6.8% in 2017 and looks set to grow by another 6.7% this year.
This is one of the important factors in upgrading Vietnam’s credit rating, she added.
Besides, the country’s macroeconomic stability, a cushion against external shocks and satisfaction in certain financial criteria were also key drivers for Fitch’s upgrading to Vietnam, she said, adding that the Vietnamese government adopted a flexible exchange-rate mechanism in January 2016 besides pledging to limit the national debts and restructuring State-owned enterprises.
According to Fitch’s forecast, Vietnam will “remain among the fastest-growing economies in the Asia-Pacific region, and fastest among ‘BB’ rated peers.
At the forum, many experts also pointed out that Vietnam’s economy has several internal and external strengths, ranging from capital inflows, labor and productivity in the agricultural, processing and manufacturing sectors, which creates a sustainable structure.
Can Van Luc, chief economist of the Bank for Development Investment of Vietnam, said that the Vietnamese economy has many positive outlooks with the recognition of international organizations such as the World Bank that has recently also raised its outlook for Vietnam’s economic growth to 6.8% from the previous forecast of 6.5%.

Indonesian business leaders are brimming with optimism about their prospects over the next three years, despite moderate economic growth and growing cyber security threats, global auditor KPMG revealed on Friday.
The company questioned 1,300 chief executives in multinational companies that operate in 11 major markets, Antara reported.
Eight in 10 Indonesian chief executives interviewed for the “KPMG Global CEO Outlook” survey said they were very confident about their business prospects. These sentiments are in line with those of their global counterparts, 90% of whom also expressed confidence.
Still, 70% Indonesian chief executives expect the country’s economy to continue to grow at a modest pace in the next three years.
The economy has been growing at around 5% in the past four years. Recently, the government and several global institutions said the country is unlikely to achieve its 5.4% growth target for 2018.
Also, the leaders were wary of cyber security and talent risk, citing them as top concerns that could derail their business projections.
“The current discussion about cyber security is very different than a few years ago,” said Irwan Djaja, the chief executive of KPMG Siddharta Advisory. “The Indonesian CEOs I talked to are aware that cyber security needs to be part of their agenda, not only an IT matter.”
About a third of the interviewed Indonesian chief executives said it is only a matter of time when they will fall victim to a cyber attack. All of them agreed that such attacks could be damaging to their reputation or brands.

Raising the Iranian flag in the march of Jerusalem Day in Iraq .. Between the facts of the free and Arrajiv slaves
BAGHDAD, June 10 (UPI) - The Iranian flag was raised by participants in the Jerusalem International Day march in Iraq, which had positive and negative repercussions on social networks in the country
A report by the IRNA news agency said that since Friday evening, pictures of a demonstrator carrying the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran were published on Jerusalem International Day, prompting anti-Iranian and Iraqi groups close to the resistance axis to respond with strong responses such as supporters.
A commentator wrote to the critics:
- Without Iran's aid to Iraq, our country would have fallen into a chauvinistic hand.
Another wrote:
I say to you: I do not see in your travels this highway in Tehran, which is several kilometers and bears the name of the martyr Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, and the other highway named after the martyr Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir the wise?
Another commentator wrote:
- Raising the Iranian flag is the best answer to Saudi government customers who chanted "Free Free Baghdad, Iran Libra Libra".
Other commentators quoted Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as saying during a speech on the occasion of World Jerusalem Day: "Hostility to Iran means falling into the arms of Israel.
While another wrote to the critics:
Do not you see the Syrians in Damascus carrying the Syrian flag alongside the flags of Iran, Russia and Iraq, in fulfillment of the countries that stood by their side in their ordeal?
Another commentator wrote:
Do you see the 40th visit during the past year? How did some Iranian visitors raise the Iraqi flag alongside the Iranian flag, where they engraved the words: "Love of Hussein (AS) brings us together."
On the other hand, there were pictures of Iranian demonstrators in Tehran on the occasion of Jerusalem International Day, raising the flags of Iraq and Syria, as this is the best answer to the critics.
Meanwhile, some users indicated that supporters of Sayyid Moqtada al-Sadr carried the Syrian flag alongside the Iraqi flag in demonstrations they staged in the wake of the American, British and French joint attack on Syria.
On the other hand, others of the Baathist and nationalist tendencies and those with a fear complex from Iran commented that Iranian authorities do not allow Iraqis living in Tehran to carry the Iraqi flag,
Claiming that Iran is the cause of all the problems plaguing Iraq, while another commentator claimed that he felt in Tehran the lack of respect for the Iraqis there.
It is worth noting that this uproar comes at a time when no other fuss has ceased to be hostile to Iran, whose campaign is responsible for the low level of water of the Tigris River, knowing that a transient geographical view shows that 90% of the Tigris waters originate from the Turkish territory that built the Alesso dam. The uproar is the rumor that Iran has cut off the Zab River, which flows from Iran's Kurdistan and flows into Sulaymaniyah, in an attempt to obscure Turkey's full responsibility in this field and to seek new divisions among the Iraqi people. In addition to carrying the concerned parties in both countries Its responsibilities were able to foil this Aldjat aimed at bilateral, cultural, religious and historical relations, the Iranian and Iraqi peoples.d

Sunday, June 10, 2018
China is one of the most important trade partners of Iran and, as a major customer of Iranian oil, has a significant place in the country’s strategic policies
China has voiced its opposition about the imposition of multilateral sanctions on Iran and will maintain economic and trade ties
Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif said the prospect of Iran and China using local currencies in bilateral trade will eliminate any difficulties arising from the fallout of the US decision to quit the nuclear deal Iran signed with world powers in 2015.
"Currently, the country's banking system is facing restrictions due to the effects of the sanctions, for which we hope proper solutions will be found by the country's senior political officials during President Hassan Rouhani's visit to China," Seif told IRNA.
President Rouhani left Iran for China on Friday where he is scheduled to take part in the 18th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

6-10-2018 Newshound Guru Kaperoni Some good news today if you call it that, it looks like the manual recount is only going to take about 10 days and not 3 months as originally predicted. Personally I don't know what the desire for manual recount is for. It's not going to change the outcome of who becomes prime-minister because that is based on political blocks unifying to form an alliance. At best, a political block may pick up a seat or two in parliament. But all this nonsense has been initiated by al-Maliki and his block and Salim Jubouri the parliament speaker who both lost pretty handily in the elections. What also appears to have happened is in the last day or so a large alliance has been formed consisting of a majority of parliamentary seats. This Alliance does not include al-Maliki or his state of law coalition. [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

6-9-2018 Intel Guru Bruce We did hear that some of the Iraqi citizens had access to their Qi cards, the Visa they got. The rates are slightly higher than we had before. ...I did mention a rate a month ago. We are at a rate higher than that now. ...You are not going to have to worry about that at all.
6-9-2018 Newshound Guru Kaperoni The current rate of the Iraqi dinar 1190 is real and accurate and a result of monetary policy accomplished over several years when Shabibi was in charge it's not artificial or program rate. The recent change in the exchange rate in year 2015 to 1186 now reflecting 1190 is real and a result of discussions between the IMF and the CBI to monitor the conditions in Iraq and the subsequent reforms. As I said before numerous times if and when the CBI accepts IMF Article VIII they will have to get off the peg and move to some type of float allowing the dinar to gradually rise based on investment and capital influx. This is no overnight event.

(Authorities of current government end 30 June & if no new government formed, a temporary government with limited powers takes over)" So, at this point there has been no ratification of the election results by the Iraqi Judiciary. The timeline for government formation has not begun until the act of ratification. It appears that it may be after June 30 until the completion of the recount and the election results can be ratified. Iraq will have a caretaker government beginning about July 1st. It is unlikely that Iraq will have a new government until late August or early September, IMO. ...I have opined that the first quarter of 2019 seems like the earliest date for completion of monetary reform and the realization of any value for us. Not a prediction, but nothing likely before then is my sense of it.
6-9-2018 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat Article: "SECURITY COUNCIL SANCTIONS COMMITTEE CONCERNING IRAQ REMOVES ONE ENTITY FROM ITS SANCTIONS LIST" ...this is WOW! news. Now the Central Bank of Iraq can do business with the outside world. Apparently when they told us last year that Iraq was “fully” out of Chapter VII sanctions this was not entirely accurate. But this is fantastic news today. Could this be why they would not let the CBI reinstate the currency up to now?

How will the alliance of "the largest bloc" and what is expected by Abadi?
BAGHDAD, June 9 (Reuters) - Al-Hayat newspaper published a report on Saturday on the largest parliamentary bloc if Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi joined his bloc of "victory" to the Sadrists, led by Moqtada al-Sadr, Led by Iyad Allawi, and "wisdom" led by Ammar al-Hakim, indicating that the allies are waiting for the position of Abbadi.
The newspaper said in its report, "The coalitions are moving and patriotism and wisdom took an important step towards the formation of the largest bloc when it announced the formation of a coalition among them, including 94 seats, to resume negotiations to form a government to the hot, while waiting for this alliance, the position of Prime Minister Haider Abadi (42 seats) His positions are similar to the new coalition. "The National Alliance (21 seats) and the rest (54 seats) and the wisdom (19 seats) is the nucleus to form the largest parliamentary bloc, and could include many of the winning lists," the newspaper quoted a member of the National Coalition Raad Dahlaki, This alliance is open to everyone, especially the lists that have the same programs and objectives that we seek, primarily re -
Displaced persons, reconstruction of destroyed cities and provision of security and services in all areas of the country. "
The alliance, according to Al-Hayat, hopes to join Abadi, whose positions coincide with the coalition at the expense of the rest of the other blocs, but information indicates that the prime minister is seriously considering his choice of alliances. With leaks reported to receive an offer to stay in office from Sadr and Sunni parties important. "
"If Abadi joins the alliance, the new coalition will have 136 seats and need more seats," he said. "The closest coalition is the Iraqi decision coalition led by Osama Najafi (14 seats) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (24)
Sufficient to choose the prime minister in parliament by a majority of seats in the parliament of 165 seats in accordance with Article 76 of the Constitution. "
"The coalition is the political party seeking to establish a national option away from the influence of Iran and abroad, while the rest of the forces have the Fatah (47 seats), the State of Law (25 seats) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (18) Seats), 90 seats are not enough to compete with the emerging alliance, but it will be influential in Parliament, and may work to disrupt the work of the government if excluded from the new lineup.
The newspaper also quoted the leader of the «conquest» Karim Nouri, saying that "talk about alliances at this time, and before the ratification of the election results, is nothing but an expected tactic of political pressure on the rest of the blocks, including the coalition, which was announced last Thursday between They walk and wisdom
And national, "noting that" the negotiations are still ongoing between the blocks and the stage of sensing the pulse, did not rise to understandings on the formation of a parliamentary bloc. "
Al-Nuri said that his alliance "will not allow to go back and re-form a unified Shiite alliance, and seeks to form the largest bloc of all components, provided that this bloc three or five names to head the government and leave the freedom of choice of choice," pointing to "a large response to these
The idea of the majority of winning lists will be crystallized into an alliance in the coming period. "
