Al-Ghais: Oil and gas are God’s gift and the world must invest in energy sources without exception

link

The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al-Ghais, stressed on Wednesday that the world must adopt all energy sources without exception.

Al-Ghais said at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) that crude oil and natural gas are “a gift from God,” and that talks on limiting global warming should focus on reducing emissions, not choosing energy sources.

His comments were in line with the opening speech of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who responded to Western criticism of his country's oil and gas industry, also describing these resources as a "gift from God."

"They are actually a gift from God," Al-Ghais, a veteran Kuwaiti oil executive, said in a speech at the conference hosted by Baku, Azerbaijan.

“These resources affect how food is produced, packaged and transported, how medical research is conducted and how medical supplies are manufactured and distributed. I could go on and on with an endless number of examples,” he added.

He pointed out that the world's governments, which set a ceiling for the rise in global temperature during the Paris summit in 2015 of no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial revolution level, can achieve their climate goals without shifting away from oil.

Al-Ghais continued, "The Paris Agreement focuses on reducing emissions, not on choosing energy sources."

OPEC said technologies such as carbon capture could address the climate change impacts of burning fossil fuels.

Economist: Big capitals benefit from the continued rise of the dollar in Iraq

link

Economic expert Safwan Qusay continued confirmed today, Wednesday, that there are big heads benefiting from the economic chaos and the rise of the dollar in Iraq.

Qusay said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “There are speculators and local mafias trying to obstruct economic organization and thwart the government's attempt to control the state's resources.”

He added, "The government can strike these mafias with the force of law by directing the supervisory and security agencies against the violators and their continued presence under multiple fronts."

He pointed out that "there are those who manipulate the local dollar markets, and the regulatory bodies must be able to control the big heads that benefit from the continued economic chaos, not the arms."

 another version

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani Moscow's cooperation with Baghdad in trade, economy, logistics and humanitarian services, amid the "unprecedented escalation" in the region.

Putin made a phone call to Al-Sudani today, Thursday, during which he "discussed Middle Eastern issues in light of the unprecedented escalation of tension in the region, especially in Syria and Lebanon, and the increasing warnings of the increased risk of Israel launching a direct strike on Iraq."

The Russian President discussed with the Iraqi Prime Minister cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, transport, logistics and humanitarian services, according to an official statement.

The cooperation of the two oil countries within the framework of OPEC+ was at the forefront of the topics, especially with the increase in international pressure on Russia following its war on Ukraine, and the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which undoubtedly affected oil prices and the level of demand for oil. And using it as a pressure card to achieve political goals.

The Iraqi Prime Minister's media office announced that Al-Sudani received a phone call today from Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stated that "the two sides discussed the joint relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation and ways to develop them in a way that achieves the mutual interests of the two friendly countries."

"The call addressed developments in the region, and stressed the importance of major countries making more efforts to end the war and prevent it from expanding in a way that threatens the stability of the region and the world. It also touched on the energy file and the importance of coordination between all concerned countries, within OPEC and the OPEC Plus group, in order to stabilize oil and gas prices within an equation that guarantees fair prices for exporters and consumers," according to the statement.

Because it contains a political aspect.. Parliamentary Wealth: The Oil and Gas Law faces difficulties

link

Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Resources Committee, Ali Abdul Sattar, confirmed today, Thursday, that the Oil and Gas Law has been facing difficulties since 2008.

Abdul Sattar told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The oil and gas law faces difficulties within the House of Representatives because it contains a political aspect between the region and the center.”

He added that "the law regulates financial matters and oil management for all governorates, especially the governorates producing oil and gas," noting that "the reason for the law's suspension is that it contains points of contention with the region."

He explained that "the law is still in the government's registry and has not been sent to the House of Representatives, despite the ongoing dialogues and discussions between the Baghdad government and the regional government."

He added, "The dispute is still ongoing between Baghdad and Erbil over the oil file, and we are waiting for it to be resolved and for the law to be sent to the House of Representatives for discussion and approval."

The Economist: Talk of a meeting between Trump and Khamenei

The Economist published a report today, Thursday (November 21, 2024), in which it spoke about the existence of “communication attempts” taking place between the team of the US President, Donald Trump, who won the elections, and some Iranian officials, with the aim of holding a “meeting” between Trump and the Iranian leader, Ali Khamenei.

The network said, according to what was translated by "Baghdad Today", that "some sources confirmed to it that there are "efforts" from both parties to hold a meeting that will be "the first of its kind" between the American president and the Iranian Supreme Leader with the aim of reaching a new nuclear deal that has Trump's blessing and guarantees Iran getting rid of some of the economic sanctions imposed on it."

The newspaper pointed out that "this news, although it is still 'initial attempts', indicates the desire of the new American president to defuse the crisis in the Middle East through 'approaching the deal' as it described it," explaining that "Trump is still reluctant to return to the previous Iranian nuclear agreement."

It is noteworthy that foreign media outlets published news the day before yesterday, Tuesday, saying that the Iranian Supreme Leader is currently suffering from a "health problem" that forced him to leave his position temporarily, which the Iranian Foreign Ministry officially denied.

The UN Security Council failed in its session held today, Wednesday, to adopt a ceasefire resolution in Gaza due to an American veto.

The US representative in the Security Council said, "We will not support a resolution to ceasefire in Gaza without the release of the hostages."
All members of the Security Council voted in favor of the proposed draft resolution to ceasefire in Gaza except the United States.
The draft resolution calls on all parties to abide by their responsibilities under international law and to provide basic services and humanitarian assistance to the residents of Gaza Strip, in addition to the parties' commitment to international law and international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the protection of civilians and their property.

Iraq is in a "hidden" war with Israel and the Zionist strike is imminent! What comes after Tel Aviv's complaint against Baghdad?

link

Political researcher Mujasha' Al-Tamimi confirmed today, Wednesday (November 20, 2024), that Iraq is currently going through a hidden war with Israel, while he warned of an expected Israeli attack on targets inside Iraq.

Al-Tamimi told Baghdad Today, "Israel's filing of a complaint against Iraq in the UN Security Council is considered a new page in the hidden war between Iraq and the Israeli entity, although the Iraqi state is trying to avoid any crisis at this time, as Iraq is going through difficult circumstances, especially with the return of Donald Trump to the White House."

He added that "this complaint will be an Israeli pretext to strike Iraq," ruling out that "the attacks launched by the Iraqi factions against Israeli sites are with the approval of the Iraqi government and the forces of the Coordination Framework because they know the consequences of this complaint, which came as a result of the almost daily strikes on Israel and what negatively affects Iraq by paving the way for targeting official and unofficial headquarters in Iraq."

The political researcher warned that "this affects the stability of the situation in Iraq, which is a great embarrassment to the Iraqi government, which pledged to the American side that Iraq would stay away from the ongoing conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza."

The Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee confirmed that the Iraqi government is making strenuous efforts to stop and prevent the expansion of the war in the region .

Committee member Amer Al-Fayez said in an interview with Baghdad Today on Friday (November 15, 2024), "The Iraqi government is well aware of the danger of the expansion of the circle of war in the region and its impact on the situation in Iraq, and for this reason it is making strenuous efforts to stop and prevent the expansion of the scope of the war through its distinguished regional and international relations ."

He explained that "Iraq's position has been clear and firm since the outbreak of the war in Gaza more than a year ago. It has been supportive of Palestine and in favor of stopping the aggression, and the same position is taken with Lebanon. It is working, in accordance with its foreign relations, to expedite reaching a ceasefire agreement and work to restore life to normal in both Gaza and Lebanon."

In the same context, an informed source revealed, today, Tuesday (November 19, 2024), a message from 4 elite Iraqi leaders to the White House regarding the threats of the Zionist entity .

The source told Baghdad Today, "The American ambassador in Baghdad held four important meetings during the past two weeks with elite Iraqi political leaders from several components, which focused on four files, the most prominent of which was the mechanism for distancing Baghdad from war and conflict in the Middle East ."

He added that "the Iraqi leaderships have made clear to Washington, through their ambassador, their rejection of any threats coming from the Zionist entity to target any sites in Baghdad, and that the matter will lead to tensions whose results are unknown, while stressing that letting the entity continue with the series of genocide against the Palestinians and the Lebanese will lead to repercussions that will last for decades of confrontations, even if in various forms ."

He pointed out that "the leaders showed the seriousness of what is happening in Gaza and Lebanon amidst American silence and even direct support and funding for the death machine," stressing that "one of the Iraqi leaders informed the ambassador that America is going through an unprecedented phase of weakness to the point that it is no longer able to stop the death machine that has been going on for 13 months ."

On November 6, 2024, the Ministerial Council for National Security confirmed that Iraq’s supreme interests require working to keep its lands and airspace away from the war machine that the Zionist entity is trying to expand.

Washington: Iraq's population is similar to America's and Baghdad must stop attacks against Israel

Washington: Iraq's population is similar to America's and Baghdad must stop attacks against Israel

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Iraq must stop what he called “terrorist attacks against Israel” within its borders or against targets outside its borders, expressing the United States’ welcome for the first census of Iraq since 1997, and said that this is also being done in the same way in the United States. In response to a question about the concerns of components such as the Kurds, Christians and Yazidis, he said that he calls on all Iraqis to participate in the census, including the residents of the region.

Part of the press conference held by Miller at dawn today:

Question: Yesterday, the Israeli Foreign Minister sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council urging the UN to push Iraq to take immediate action against the Iranian-backed militias for attacking Israel. Has Israel ever contacted you to pass or send a message to the Iraqi government in the past months?

Miller: That remains our position that Iraq should do everything it can to stop terrorist attacks within its borders - or against targets outside its borders, but as far as any specific diplomatic talks, I'm not going to talk about that.

Question: But what he said in the letter is that the Iraqi government is responsible for everything that happens on its territory, and Israel has the right to self-defense. Do you agree with him that the Iraqi government is responsible for the actions of these militias that use Iraqi territory to attack Israel?

Miller: We certainly want to see the Iraqi government do everything it can to stop these kinds of terrorist attacks, I think I'll leave it at that.

Q: Iraq is scheduled to conduct its nationwide census this week, and this has raised concerns among Kurds and other minority leaders, including Christians in Iraq, about potential demographic shifts in disputed areas. A large number of Kurds and other minorities — including Christians and Yazidis — have been forced to leave their areas in recent years. How does the U.S. government view this process and concerns about unnatural demographic change?

Miller: We welcome the first Iraqi census since 1997, which will be conducted this week, and includes all Iraqi governorates. This census is important in the same way that the United States conducts its census, to provide accurate information for Iraq to adapt its political, economic, and development strategies. We encourage all Iraqis, including those in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, to participate in the census.

Targeting at any moment.. Iraqi expert: The entity cannot strike Iraq without American approval

link

Security expert Ahmed Al-Tamimi confirmed today, Wednesday (November 20, 2024), that the Zionist entity cannot strike deep inside Iraq without an American green light.

Al-Tamimi said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The leaks from the Western and Zionist media about directing the compass of targeting operations to the resistance factions in Iraq are nothing but messages about what the entity is preparing for," stressing that "the targeting may come at any moment, but Washington realizes the sensitivity of such choices to its strategic interests in the region."

He added, "Tel Aviv cannot strike deep inside Iraq without an American green light and a statement of what the reactions will be, especially in light of the presence of military bases, economic interests and companies, in addition to the fact that the strategic agreement requires Washington to support Baghdad in confronting any external aggression, and therefore any position supporting the entity against Iraq will have a price."

Al-Tamimi pointed out that "Yesterday's security meeting of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani indicates government concern about Baghdad being exposed to direct targeting operations that will lead to more tension and may lead to reactions that will increase the conflict in the Middle East, noting that the spark of war will not end in the region as long as the death machine continues to kill innocent people in Palestine and Lebanon, and Washington is well aware of the matter."

The security expert said, "Any targeting operations that may occur may be limited to assassinations and will not affect important economic targets because any move in this direction will mean a major explosion," stressing that "America is now concerned with preventing the conflict from moving to a different level if it gives the Zionist entity the right to target Iraq because its bases will secure the flights of aircraft and provide all the technical data as happened in targeting Tehran a few weeks ago, meaning it will be a partner in the aggression."

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani responded yesterday, Tuesday (November 19, 2024), to Israel’s submission of a letter to the UN Security Council to put in place immediate measures for attacks launched by armed factions, saying that this represents “a pretext and excuse to attack Iraq,” and while he confirmed his rejection of “these threats and entering into war,” he stressed that “the decision of war and peace is a decision in the hands of the Iraqi state .”

Al-Sudani said, while chairing the weekly session of the Council of Ministers, that "the message sent by the Zionist entity to the UN Security Council represents a pretext and excuse to attack Iraq, and to achieve the entity's ongoing efforts to expand the war in the region ."

He stressed that "Iraq rejects these threats, and that the decision of war and peace is a decision in the hands of the Iraqi state, and no party is allowed to confiscate this right," noting that "Iraq refuses to enter the war, while adhering to the principled position of ending it, and seeking to provide relief to the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples."
