Chinese envoy calls for more support for Iraq

link

UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese envoy on Wednesday asked the international community to help Iraq fight terrorism and rebuild its economy while respecting the country's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

As Iraq is planning to hold early elections in June 2021, the political process in Iraq is at a crucial stage. The international community should respect Iraq's ownership and leadership in all its endeavors, said Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations.

When lending a helping hand, it is important to first listen to the views of Iraq, respect its sovereignty, refrain from imposing solutions and interfering in Iraq's internal affairs, he told the Security Council.

Geng asked for support for Iraq's efforts to safeguard national security and combat terrorism.

"We call on the international community to continue to support Iraq in consolidating the hard-won results of counter-terrorism and addressing the issue of foreign terrorist fighters. We should also support Iraq in bringing terrorists to justice in accordance with its domestic laws, and reject double standards and politicization in counter-terrorism."

The international community should help Iraq address current challenges and boost socio-economic development, said Geng.

The war-torn country is now confronted with economic and fiscal hardships, exacerbated by low oil prices and the COVID-19 pandemic. The international community must intensify efforts to help Iraq carry out reconstruction, diversify its economy, create more jobs, eradicate poverty, and improve public services and livelihoods, he said.

Al-Sayyadi asks: Where were those who used to make their voices heard about the corruption of the Central Bank .. Why did they remain silent?

link

Deputy for the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Kadhim al-Sayyadi, demanded, on Thursday, to open a file "politicizing the amount of seven billion dinars" in the central bank due to its damage due to rainwater. Corruption of the central bank for their sudden silence.

Al-Sayyadi told Al-Akhbariya, “I think that the rampant corruption in the Central Bank has been politicized by political consensus, like the rest of the corruption files in the Iraqi state. If we take as an example seven billion dinars were damaged by rainwater, we will see that no sane person believes the matter, and unfortunately there was no A real investigation has not revealed any significance, nor are there any specialized committees. "

He added that "private banks today are currency smuggling with my respect to some, and it is about economic committees affiliated with the parties. There are five people in control of all these banks responsible for the single window issue, and some banks are questionable in the issue of their ownership, as well as many corrupt people who deposited a lot of money in banks." Expressing his "regret that there is no real control over the banks, and we hoped that these banks would be within the integrity law and follow them up by integrity or financial supervision."

Al-Sayyadi pointed out that "some parliamentarians open files of corruption before the media and the judiciary, but there are pressures exerted on them, such as political pressure, political consensus or other matters behind the scenes." Whether suspicions of corruption in the central bank or private banks. "

The House of Representatives had opened an investigation into the damage of seven billion Iraqi dinars, equivalent to (six million US dollars), when the Governor of the Central Bank, Ali Al-Alaq, explicitly admitted that the damage was caused by the leakage of rainwater into the government treasury of the Rafidain Bank.

It is noteworthy that Al-Alaq said at the time that the incident dates back to 2013, when the coffers of the Rafidain Bank were submerged due to the heavy rains that occurred at that time and entered the bank’s vaults and caused damage to the stored banknotes of up to seven billion dinars, indicating that the Central Bank received these notes By compensating it, that is, replacing it so that the issue becomes politicized and this huge amount is lost.

This comes from high up banking contacts. And there will be instructions on how to exchange…I am not a bit worried. I have complete and total faith there will be a secure link and/or 800 numbers.   I have been told this over and over by well connected people and people who have help set up redemption centers...

...the Central Bank of Iraq will tell you exactly what they're about to do.  I'm waiting for a beautiful and very important article that should come up.  It could be a day.  It could be weeks...the article about lifting the 3 zeros...that's what's going to put a stop to all the speculations...

There are other people that are looking very hard at Thursday - for us to get started...I am going to say right now from Wednesday to Friday is prime time – That is really looking good...Could it slip to Saturday? It is possible yes...but I believe it is to start this week...I think everything is pointing towards it – and I’m just giving you what I’ve got...and that is looking very strong for Wednesday – Thursday – or Friday of this week...

8-26-2020   Intel Guru Frank26  ...the biggest thing that came out of this meeting [The Washington Meeting], actually is two things.  1.  A commitment from Kazemi to Donald Trump that Iraq will de-dollarize and  2. The acceptance that they are going to announce that they have a change in their exchange rate.  That they have added value to their currency That's the only reason why you see Donald Trump give all these contracts to Kazemi.  Why didn't they hand them out before?  The week before?  The month before?  The year before?  They didn't qualify for it.  The "white papers" have been all checked off.  Every benchmark on those "white papers" is done.  Now the question is Kazemi...Are you ready to make the announcement of everything that is in those "white papers"? ...we do not have the authority to tell them to raise the value of their currency.  Their bank.  Their government.  Their Prime Minister.  Their Leaders.  They're the ones that make that decision.

8-26-2020   Intel Guru MarkZ   [via PDK]  The news is painfully quiet out of banking centers right now...I am told they have a set schedule now and its rolling out quickly. They are really leaning on banking folks to stay quiet.

8-26-2020   Intel Guru Frank26  ...I'm of the point of view that it can happen at any moment.  I believe that the rate can be changed because it's already changed.  All that is needed is for the rate change to be announced...I know Donald Trump met with Kazemi for the purpose of talking about the currency of their country.  One of the biggest things that came out of this meeting IMO is a commitment from Kazemi...Kazemi has promised Donald Trump to de-dollarize Iraq...

8-26-2020   Intel Guru Frank26  ...this cannot happen with a non-sovereign country.  This cannot happen with a non-sovereign currency.  All of this business, all of these contracts...Donald Trump is a businessman...as the days go by, as the weeks go by we're going to learn more and more about what Trump has given to Kazemi for Iraq.  We're going to learn more and more about these meetings...Trump wants to see dollar signs...Trump wants the end results to be the black ink.  We don't want no red.  Trump wants to see dollar signs.  This is all about business...Iraq's economy is about to explode nuclear.

8-26-2020   Intel Guru Delta   What do you thin is the importance of Kurdistan traveling with Kazemi to come to Washington D.C.?  That's really significant...this is the first time I see Kurdistan traveling with the official government from central Baghdad...I think this is very huge...it gives you indication that there are unity between them.  You know if they're not happy you'll never see them traveling all the way down to the U.S...you know what's going to make them more united rightThe new currency...lower denominations...have the Kurdish language on it...that part too is going to unite the whole country...so this is a major and a huge significant part for them to join the government with the negotiation and those contracts with the U.S...

Al-Kazemi government is preparing a budget for only three months

08/26/2020 18:27 •
[Baghdad-Where]

The Iraqi government announced, on Wednesday, that it is working on preparing the general budget for the remaining three months of the current year.

"The 2021 budget is almost complete and upon completion, it will be voted on in the Council of Ministers and sent to the House of Representatives," said Ahmed Mulla Talal, a spokesman for the prime minister, at a press conference.

Talal pointed out that "the degrees of deletion and creation will be allocated to holders of higher degrees and employees with contracts and wages in state institutions."

It is noteworthy that the sending of the federal budget for the year 2020, by the government to the Iraqi parliament, has been delayed as a result of the continuous protests since last October, which led to the resignation of the previous government headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi and its transformation into a caretaker government whose powers are not to send the draft financial budget law to Parliament .

Earlier, the Iraqi Minister of Finance, Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, ruled out approving the general budget for the year 2020 and confirmed that his ministry is working on preparing the 2021 budget.

The fall in oil prices due to the Corona pandemic has caused a financial deficit, while the Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed last July that the fiscal deficit of the 2021 budget bill is estimated according to financial revenues and oil prices.

08/26/2020 12:56
Where's the News_Baghdad?

An unhealthy diet or sleeping in an incorrect position may lead to back pain, which is a common condition that affects most people at some point in their lives, according to the NHS.

In order to get rid of lower back pain, you must make some changes to your diet. The easiest and fastest way to treat these pains is to eat more sweet potatoes.

According to the osteopath, Branco Barba, sweet potatoes are one of the best foods you might add to your diet if you suffer from back pain. This is an anti-inflammatory and key to fighting back pain, as it is full of nutrients needed for the body.

Priya added, "Sweet potato is an easy side dish that may be served with fish such as salmon, to double the anti-inflammatory effect. You can also add thyme, which contains some ingredients that prevent the feeling of pain."

In addition, the British Health Service indicated that regular exercise and stretching exercises can also help prevent the return of back pain.

To keep Baghdad away from Iranian energy. Washington pushes for new Iraqi-Saudi project

link

The United States is pushing for a new Saudi-Iraqi energy investment project, a US newspaper reported on Monday, noting that it is "towards completion."

The Wall Street Journal reported that the United States is seeking to integrate Iraq with its gcc energy investment neighbors, noting that the Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Baghdad to move forward with cooperation with these countries on the electricity grid connectivity project, a move to reduce Baghdad's dependence on Iranian energy.

Washington has granted Iraq an exemption from sanctions on Iranian energy imports on humanitarian grounds related to Baghdad's sinking into the dark without such energy as Iraq tries to reduce its dependence on Tehran.

The networking project has been the subject of intense consultations in recent months, and was discussed during the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to Washington last week.

Iraqi Finance Minister Ali Allawi said last Friday that the project "is about to be identified, designed and put into tender," adding that "the electricity grid in Iraq is likely to be linked to the networks of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait."

A spokesman for the Saudi Energy Minister said the agreement "is progressing towards completion" and includes an option for a direct link between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

"We've been working on this," said a senior Trump administration official, referring to the connection of Iraq's electricity grid to the GCC countries.

Saudi Arabia recently began talks on possible investments in the $2.2 billion Artawi field project, which aims to redirect the large amounts of natural gas iraq wastes toward power generation, according to Iraq's finance minister and a Saudi oil official.

Riyadh is also considering joint investments in solar energy inside Iraq and electricity exports from renewable projects in Saudi Arabia to supply Iraq, the spokesman said.

Iraqi-Gulf relations were severed after former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, before the United States established an international coalition to liberate Kuwait in February 1991.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, governments close to Tehran dominated Baghdad, accusing Riyadh of siding with the Iranian regime.

With al-Kadhimi's recent arrival at the head of the Iraqi government, this choice has boosted Iraq's efforts to improve its relationship with Riyadh and other Gulf states.

Iraq is facing increasing difficulties in meeting the growing demand for electricity, as problems with the electricity grid have worsened, but Baghdad needs to modernize its electricity infrastructure in order to receive the flow of energy from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Al-Kadhimi told reporters thursday after a meeting with President Trump that U.S. officials helped facilitate meetings in recent months between Iraqi electricity and energy officials and their Gulf counterparts.

On August 17th, Iraqi Ministry of Electricity spokesman Ahmed Musa said that the first phase of the Gulf link would take 14 months.

If the Gulf side starts implementing the first phase of the Gulf connectivity, they need a time limit of approximately 14 months to complete this phase of 500 MW, he said, according to the Iraqi News Agency.

The ministry of electricity spokesman pointed out that Iraq has completed the fao abu floss line No. 1, and fao manufacturing plant 400, and remains the line "FAO AbuFlus No. 2", which has a completion rate of 60%, stressing that the governor of Basra pledged to complete this line and thus Iraq completed 80% of the belongings.

MP for the Alliance of Saeron Raad Al-Maksousi called on Monday to solve the secret of the mixture in the eight billion agreement that Al-Kazemi concluded with Washington, warning of a new deal led by the United States of America to slap the Iraqi economy.
Al-Maksousi said in a statement to "the information", that "Al-Kazemi was supposed to deal with Washington as the prime minister and not a student directed according to the desire of the US government," he said.
He added that "signing agreements and deals worth billions of dollars would be the biggest weight for the American side, while it is no longer on the Iraqis without the media aura without mentioning its dimensions or terms and the size of the economic return from them," warning of "a new deal led by America to slap the Iraqi economy."
Al-Maksousi stressed "the importance of knowing what the Chinese agreement has come to, and has it been activated or is it based on the shelves like its predecessors from the decades that exhausted the Iraqi economy."

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi visits the family of the deceased martyr Reham Yaqoub in Basra

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi, offered his condolences to the family of the deceased martyr Reham Yaqoub, during a visit made by his Excellency late on Saturday night to the martyr's home in Basra.

Al-Kazemi expressed his deep condolences to the family of the martyr, assuring them and the people of Basra that the duration of the attackers and criminals is short.

His Excellency said in front of the family of the martyr: I swear by the blood of the martyr that criminals will not escape punishment no matter how long it takes.

Al-Kazemi added, in his condolences, that the words of the martyr had brought terror into the hearts of cowardly criminals, and that her charitable community actions had deflected them, and made them ride to shame, for any humiliation is more ugly than this ugliness, but the disappointed inspiration had turned into a rage, and the young martyr in the spring of her life turned into an icon For Basra.

The head of the Baghdad Investment Commission is in the cage of accountability due to violations

08/23/2020 19:11 •
[Baghdad-Where]
Member of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee, MP Mazen Al-Faily, announced on Sunday that the head of the Baghdad Investment Commission had been summoned after the parliament resumed its work to hold him accountable for violations.
"The response to our opening of files related to the work of the Baghdad Investment Commission represents the concerns of this body and its management from the overt examination and scrutiny voices that show the public opinion the extent of the violations," Al-Faily said in a statement.

He added, "All that we presented in our previous press conference was based on the report of the Office of Financial Supervision No. 24669 on 11/26/2018 as well as the Real Estate Bank book number 2341 on 10/2/2018 which includes preventing the Baghdad Investment Commission and stopping all its actions in the real estate belonging to the bank, While the commission did not mention in its response any official documents, except for unprofessional media polemics in which it tried to confuse the cards.

"The rights granted by the constitution allow the House of Representatives and its members to question any executive authority to find out the administrative and financial violations and the size of manipulation of public money, and this is part of the oversight work of the House of Representatives, so that everyone knows his size."

He referred to "summoning the head of the Baghdad Investment Commission after the parliament resumed its work to hold him accountable for the violations and that at the closest meeting of the House of Representatives," stressing that "there is a parliamentary dissatisfaction with the work and management of the commission."

Study: a drink that protects hundreds of thousands of people from cancer

 08/22/2020 13:31
Where's News_Baghdad

A study conducted by Australian scientists showed that drinking an amount of coffee daily would save hundreds of thousands of people from developing fatal liver cancer.
Australian scientists said in a study published by "MedicalXpress", on Friday, that drinking two or three cups of coffee a day reduces the chances of cancer by 38%, and the risk of dying from it by 46%.
The scientists indicated that drinking four or more cups of coffee a day may raise these numbers to 41% and 71%.
And the Australian team of doctors based their study on data on liver cancer for 2016, during which 240,000 people died from it.
The scientists also took into account the statistics of coffee consumption among these people, which showed that the death rate among people with liver cancer is much lower in people who consume coffee daily.
The scientists stressed that health care supervisors should encourage residents to add coffee to their daily diet to protect themselves from this deadly disease.
