Iraq and Saudi Arabia exchange the opening of a branch bank in Baghdad and Riyadh

29-03-2018 12:49 PM

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's central bank governor Ali al-Alak announced on Thursday the opening of a branch of the Iraqi Bank for Trade in Saudi Arabia, adding that Riyadh would also decide to open a branch of one of its banks in Iraq.

Al-Alaq said that the monetary relations between Iraq and the Kingdom are good and soon a branch of the Iraqi Bank for Trade will be opened in Saudi Arabia to facilitate the trade exchange between the two brotherly countries.

Saudi Arabia will also decide to open a branch of one of its banks in Iraq soon, which will ease the economic relations between the two countries," he added
29-03-2018
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Roeeya's fund will invest in a Saudi solar power plant that will build the world's largest power station as it accelerates its operations in the kingdom, the chief executive of Softbank said.
The production capacity is expected to reach 200 gigawatts by 2030, Masayoshi Sun told reporters in New York on Monday. This will be added to a world-class vehicle capacity of around 400 gigawatts, comparable to the total global nuclear generation capacity of about 390 gigawatts by the end of 2016.
Sun said the first phase of the project is 7.2 gigawatts and will cost $ 5 billion, including $ 1 billion from the Vision Softbank fund and the rest from project financing facilities.
He added that the final investment cost of the entire project, including solar panels, storage batteries and a panel manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, would eventually reach about $ 200 billion.
The Softbank Fund announced in May that it had raised more than $ 93 billion into Roya, the largest direct investment fund in the world, with supporters including the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, Apple and Foxconn.
In October Softbank said it would work with Saudi Arabia to develop the new commercial and industrial city of Newum, to be built in the Kingdom.
Sun seeks to realize his vision for a future run by networked interconnected devices and industrial intelligence. The Vision Fund, together with the Makam Delta Fund, has established a joint venture fund worth 27.5 billion dollars to invest in China's Diddy Taxi Application Company and 20 technology companies.
Although Saudi Arabia is one of the world's most sunny countries, Saudi Arabia generates little electricity from solar energy, which accounts for only a marginal proportion of its electricity production, much of which is generated by burning oil.
He pointed out that the Saudi reform plan known as "Vision 2030", which aims to reduce the dependence of the Saudi economy on oil, is consistent with the Fund's long-term vision on innovation.
"These two visions have come together to create renewable energy that is clean, sustainable, low-cost and productive," he said. "The Kingdom is a country blessed with plenty of sunlight, huge tracts of available land and outstanding engineers ..."
Although Saudi Arabia is one of the most sunny countries in the world, the kingdom generates most of the electricity from plants operated by burning oil.
The total power generation capacity in Saudi Arabia is currently about 60 gigawatts. Adding 200 gigawatts would create a huge surplus in production capacity that could be exported to neighboring countries or used in industry, but the kingdom would still need other forms of electricity to use at night.
Industrial estimates show that between 300,000 and 800,000 barrels of crude oil a day are being burned to generate electricity in Saudi Arabia.
The export of this quantity, instead of burning it, could increase Saudi Arabia's annual oil revenues by between $ 7 billion and $ 20 billion at the current price of Brent crude, which is about $ 70 a barrel.
"It is clear that Saudi Arabia is preparing for a post-fossil fuel economy era in terms of domestic energy consumption," said Peter Kernan, chief energy analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit in Singapore. "This huge bet on renewable sources will allow the allocation of much oil production Domestic export and may also provide domestic gas resources ».
"So far, there has been very slow progress in building solar capacity in Saudi Arabia, but this agreement could give it the start it needs. The production of 200 gigawatts by 2030 is another issue. "Pierre Pascal Orbun, CEO of SMA Solar, Germany's largest solar company, said his company is very active in the Saudi solar market, but it has not Has been involved in an important project announced by Softbank Group.
"I can not confirm that we have had concrete talks (on the project)," he told reporters at the group's annual press conference. "He is convinced that the Middle East will increase the company's exposure to solar energy.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), the Japanese government is contributing an additional 10 million US dollars, to support the recovery and reconstruction efforts in Iraq. Part of this contribution will also be used to support Syrian refugees living in Iraq.
"This Japanese contribution will help" expand livelihood and income-generating activities to include 9,000 vulnerable Iraqis, UNAMI said in a statement sent to Basnews. These activities aim to revitalize the agriculture sector by rehabilitating the irrigation channels and irrigation systems damaged by the fighting. "
"For four years, Japan has been providing assistance to the vulnerable Iraqis and Syrian refugees in Iraq affected by the attacks of a sympathetic organization through Japan's supplementary budget," said Fumio Iwai, Japan's ambassador to Iraq.
"This $ 10 million contribution to the World Food Program is part of the new humanitarian package and efforts to restore stability to Iraq, which amounts to about $ 100 million. Japan will continue to assist displaced people, returnees, refugees and host communities in Iraq while supporting Iraq's development efforts. "
This contribution will also be used to provide food assistance for seven months to 23,000 Syrian refugees living in the Kurdistan Region through WFP's e-voucher system. Refugee e-vouchers provide US $ 19 per person per month to buy food at their choice from local stores.
"As the situation in Iraq remains fragile, we need to continue to provide assistance to the most needy families while at the same time building the economic independence of the Iraqi people," said Sally Haydock, WFP Representative in Iraq.
"The World Food Program (WFP) has always relied on Japan to support Iraq, and this recent contribution demonstrates Japan's continued commitment to supporting the country to move forward in building its future," she said.

For one father and son in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria’s cloud has not lifted
Salon
To reach the Martinez home in Puerto Rico’s central mountains, social worker Eileen Calderon steers around piles of dirt, treacherous potholes and power company trucks that block the road. Finally, she pulls up to a sagging, cement home, its roof done in by Hurricane Maria. Laundry hangs under a tarp, and a cat is tied to a leash outside the door. 3-29-2018  ***  Dinar Guru News Update ***  For the second day in a row the CBI is reporting a steady dinar market rate at the new 52-week high of 1209 (remember the lower this number, the stronger the dinar).  Guru Kaperoni, along with a few other gurus, feels the IMF "2%-for 90 days rule" must be satisfied before the dinar can reach international acceptance...he feels the dinar official rate and market rate have been within 2% for the past couple weeks already!  You can follow the CBI official rate and CBI reported market rate in the Dinar Guru Recource Bar on the left of this page.  [The latest guru updates will continue below..]

3-29-2018   Newshound Guru Enorrste   [Guru] Mike's question is well put: What, exactly are the conditions to begin removing the zeros?  The answer to that question, not surprisingly, is really quite simple.  The one condition that is needed is the assurance that the value of the dinar will rise when they move to the international currency market and Article VIII.  The problem with discussing "remove the three zeros" is that it is seen as an event...when in fact it is a process, as will be the case in Iraq.  The ONLY way that the three zeros will be eliminated in Iraq is through a gradual rise in the value of the currency...  It has been shown conclusively that the RV concept is not tenable because there is too much currency in circulation to effect an RV.  The ONLY way to get to our goal is to see the currency move to a float and then see a gradual removal of the large notes as the value of the currency rises.  Therefore, "remove the three zeros" can only occur over time with the gradual rise in the value of the currency.  [post 1 of 3....stay tuned]

3-29-2018   Newshound Guru G-Lin   Article:  "Urgent: The value of the dinar rose to 1197 per dollar"  [If it goes much lower, it will not be very profitable and then why the auctions.]   Yep the auctions need to stop. I think when they talk about preventing manipulation and fraud as far as deleting the 0's,  they are referring to the auctions. JMO.

3-28-2018  Newshound Guru Adam Montana   [I have heard mention that the HCL was passed, or is in a budget to be passed or something like that. Are we really that close to the enactment of the real HCL? Is it imminent? And if so, how does this realistically affect an RV timetable. If it isn't really imminent, then how does that extend your timetable for the "event"?]   It has not been passed yet, but YES we are on the verge.

3-28-2018   Intel Guru Delta   Article:  "The value of the dinar rose to 1197 per dollar"   Quote:  "The value of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar rose Wednesday by more than 0.41%.   At 12:06 am Baghdad time, the dollar exchange rate against the dinar per 100 dollars was 119,750 dinars, while the asking price was 120.750 dinars per 100 dollars."  THIS IS SO HUGE I WAS WAITING FOR IT TO DROP BELOW 1200...
3-28-2018   Newshound Guru Kaperoni    Article:  "The value of the Iraqi dinar to 1197 per dollar"  ...they are in compliance so they are on the clock...10 weeks or about to Article VIII.  And we all know the CBI needs Article VIII to get foreign investors to Iraq...

3-28-2018   Intel Guru Bruce   ...Some of the sources that we talk to have been remarkably quiet, and they have been sort of under a gag order...we have had before from Iraq, but not to the extent we have seen it yesterday and today...The budget was in the so called digital version of the Gazette Saturday. It has been out. The printed version however has not been put out. We heard today it is to be revealed tomorrow [Wednesday] in the Gazette in Iraq...It may be something that has to happen for us to go...  We know from our Iraqi contacts the Qi cards, the one I know about have been activated and shows a nice rate in that account for the Iraq dinar, a very good screen rate...it is a good strong rate and it would be a good rate even for an exchange... As far as I can tell we are in a really good window for this to roll out. One of our bank sources on Monday said the next couple of days, that would be Tuesday and Wednesday, will be monumental...We can all imagine what that might mean. I just going to say everything is very positive right now and pointing to this going in our favor. I believe we are about to see the blessing come into fruitition.

3-28-2018  Newshound Guru Adam Montana   It’s been a very interesting week, if you ask me! And the coming days should also be interesting. Last week I talked about the upcoming Parliament meeting where we might see the HCL addressed...That Parliament meeting I discussed is set for TOMORROW, Thursday 29th of March. There is actually a LOT of HCL related news going on right now - too much to even list it all here! We also have the end of Q1 at the end of this month, and we’re in a 15 day window on the Budget. SERIOUSLY, FOLKS! This is getting gooooooood...3-28-2018   Newshound Guru G-Lin   Article:  "Venezuela to delete three zeros from its currency and Iraq is still afraid of "circumvention"   Quote:  "The deletion of zeros not because of the value of the dinar, but for the purpose of tightening and improve the performance of banknotes and reducing the use of the dollar locally in circulation and exchange and storage value and standardize the size of banknotes..."   I like this art. They are comparing the dinar against the Bolivar, and there is no comparison at all, Iraq has low inflation and nice high reserves and is much stronger economically than Venezuela. But they are still talking about deleting the 0's in Iraq.  And the last paragraph [see quote]  says it all.  IMO it has lower denoms written all over it.   Reduce the note count, use the dinar instead of dollar, exchange and storage value and standardize the size of banknotes. Remember there is no rv in country only outside of country.  Us.  :}  Iraqi will benefit with a stronger purchasing power
...

3-28-2018   Intel Guru Dr. Clarke   Again, this is WHY we printed what we printed...in our 3-26-18 Post [reference Dr. Clarke post 3-27-2018]  ...but you have to read it carefully. CAREFULLY.   ADD TO THAT...the U.S. status:Budget signed. OIL rising in markets worldwide over $70 (we told you this way back last year - they want it at $90 by yr. end), Crooks being brought to justice...Gold? Silver? Crypto’s?...Iran’s currency tumbled yesterday (we told you that last year also). Vietnam is setting records ( we told you that from the beginning)...and more.  WE’RE RIGHT THERE FOLKS Are our “IL-LOGICAL” Opinions clear Today?   [post 2 of 2]

3-28-2018   Intel Guru Dr. Clarke   Where are We At NOW?  If you haven’t noticed by now after all these years - this thing CHANGES IN A MOMENT’S NOTICE. WHY?  Because it’s BIG. It’s too Important to hundreds of Millions of people. Yes, hundreds of Millions, on EVERY CONTINENT ON THIS GLOBE.  The GOOD NEWS, is that all the groundwork has been laid, and is pretty much over.  For Instance, when was the last time the country of Iraq, actually COMPLETED a BUDGET & made it Public into LAW How about NEVER ever before Well, they just did, and it’s about to be OFFICIAL. That word we keep Powerfully emphasizing. OFFICIAL.That ONE THING alone, should tell you, where this thing is at, compared to the past 15 years.  [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

3-28-2018 Newshound Guru Don961 Article: "Parliamentary oil: the agreement between Russia and Saudi Arabia on production will revive the Iraqi economy" Quote: ..."the increase in international oil prices reflect positively on the Iraqi economy because it depends on the sale of oil in the provision of budget funds on a basis." "Any increase in the country's financial imports will support the budget, reduce the deficit and increase the cash reserves of the Central Bank of Iraq,"... Hmm...higher oil prices increase cash reserves in the CBI...why that may also inadvertently raise the value of the floating currency in the markets...heard something about this on a CC somewhere...is this part of a master plan? ...are things lining up and falling into place for a reason?...imo.

Discover the amazing facts about the Turtle
2018/3/29 10:59
[Where - Continue]
Scientists have found that sea turtles evolved over the past centuries until they used their fins as a tool to capture jellyfish and do a number of other things.
Previously, the brains of reptiles were thought to be too small, as they could not perform the skill required to do some things using their limbs.
"Our belief was that sea turtles were using their fins to swim and change direction only," the scientists said.
But after researching images and videos of sea turtles, researchers in California discovered that the creatures were "surprisingly agile."
The pictures, which the researchers studied, reveal some turtles carrying jellyfish, and their fins are used to catch the sea object known as the "Carpathian Coral," the newspaper Telegraph reported.
It also shows the smooth images of turtles moving inside the sea, and how they move between the coral reefs with all its usefulness.
"Turtles use their fins in at least eight things, including digging, beating, caressing, constipation and defamation," the researchers said.

TNT Call notes 28- March-2018 by Adept 1 :
Ray Ren: Good Afternoon, TNT Super Fantastic Family. This is Wednesday, March 28, 2018 with yours truly Ray Ren98 here. It's Tony's BirthdayTony:
Good morning, TNT! What’s going on?
RayRen: There were no updates yesterday because there was just stuff happening; they are playing political games over there.
Tony: Iraq put out news articles saying the Budget will be posted in the next two days. All the articles and information agreeing on that. There is a group with Maliki saying they cannot publish it in the Gazette, and the other groups say it must be published in the Gazette because it is now law. They are saying it will be effective on Sunday 1. April. Others say it was effective from 1. January, 2018. They say they are paying people this Thursday all the way back to November. Today on television, they said that “all citizens salaries will be adjusted 10-30& because of increase in revenue”. We are getting a bunch of good news, that things are moving forward.
We told you about rates on the bank screens on Monday. We got a call early Monday morning saying there was a ‘blind rate’. We looked into that: it wasn’t a rate, more of a code, although the tellers and private bankers did think it was a rate. Only the top execs knew it is a date and time for this to be activated. We got this over the last couple of days from various banks. Months ago, the banks said that the next time they call, it will be time for staff to go to their locations. Some banks are being briefed on new procedures for the exchange. They are at the meeting right now, so I won’t know the results until after this call. I know they are ready to go, just waiting for Iraq to make it public. Iraq is confusing us because of all these conflicting articles. At least they are notifying their people that the time is now. The ministers are on television demanding publication of the Budget in the Gazette today! It’s kind of crazy, and that’s what we expected at the end. I just want everything to be effective by Sunday or tomorrow.
Iraq is putting the information out there, and I don’t see them giving people 3-4 days notice to either stop spending their dinars because the value is going up, or for the rest of us to buy more dinar because eth value is going up. It doesn’t make sense to me; what makes more sense to me if for them to announce it for Sunday and do it now!
The banks here are ready to go, and going over the last procedures as we speak. There is one group out there saying it won’t happen until the middle of April, but everyone else is expecting the RV this week.
Questions from the TNT forum
Q: When exchanging as a trust, who has to be present? Do the trustees have to attend if they’re not signatories on the account? Who would have to attend if a new account has to be opened? A Only signatories have to be present, so one trustee is enough.
Q: With all the teaching on the A, B and C choices, I know which I am leaning towardsam I correct in understanding that ALL that can be set up after the RV? A: Yes, and for most of you, that is when you will do it because you have no choice.
Q: Does the mention in the Saturday update for Abadi to react by March 29 if a quorum is not established at the March 27 session include a “nuclear option” of implementation of the Budget if the quorum was not met? Must he/and the process follow the 15 day rule? Tony: That is passed already; they don’t need to revote, because Parliament said it’s ready to go into the Gazette.
Q: The IMF requires 2% compliance for 60-90 days before RI/RV. How long has Iraq been 2% compliant? A: We don’t know about that requirement.
Q: At one time you said that everyone would get the $28 for their Dinar. This was to allow even the small holders to make some money and there would be a cap on all the rest. Is this still true? And are we still going to have to go to our district to exchange? A: Yes, and yes. You have to sign the NDA to get that contract rate. Everyone has the opportunity to get the contract rate IF they ask for it, and sign the ten-year NDA. So far as we have been told, you must exchange within in your district.
Q: Have you heard anything from the Admiral? A: I haven’t heard from him. There has been a rumor that he is being paid every day for the last two years. I know people in Reno, people who are paymasters in that group, and no one has been paid at all.
Q: I was told by an investment firm they don't believe in annuities, because you can lose money and your assets are not that well protected. Do you agree with that? A: You should visit both the insurance company and the private banker, and make a decision on what you want to accomplish, what you want to get for how long, and if our economy can carry that. I’m sure it’s different for everyone according to how much they are willing to put into that situation.
Q: Do we have any new information regarding veterans? A: when the 800 numbers go live, call them and ask their procedures for veterans. I believe there is some setup for veterans to exchange.
Q: Both of my children, ages 16 and 17, along with myself, were gifted 100 trillion note of Zim. (for a total of three) . With them being minors, my name is on each of their bank accounts. If they exchange their Zim into their accounts, will this affect me depositing mine into my account? A: I don’t have an answer for that.
Live questions
240 caller: A friend asked about this: will the banks require proof of where the currency was purchased if it is given to family without a gift letter. That is, can she give her family currency without drafting a gift letter.
Tony: I don’t think the bank will ask for proof UNLESS someone walks in with a suitcase full of currency. Then they will want to know where it came from, and where the money came from to buy it. If you are walking up to the teller with 100K or so, I don’t see that being an issue.
Caller: Does the exchange center determine the Zim rate and amount of payout.
Tony: The rate is already set; we have been told you will only be able to exchange one 100 Trillion Zim note at the first appointment, and ten 100T overall. However, my bank sources have not been told that, although I don’t know what they are hearing right now in the briefings taking place this morning.
865/404 caller: So… they are saying that Iraq is getting ready to go public? What are they expecting exactly at the US banks?
Tony: I have various banking people who told us about the blind rates, and also that the target is to complete it this month. That has come from three different states.
Caller: Supposedly the Budget has already been published in the digital Gazette.
Tony: I haven’t talked to my government people over there; people in the street are telling us what’s on the television.
951 caller: On this blind code thing, they say there is a date and time? Do the banks know something that we don’t know?
Tony: They know the day and time this is scheduled to go, yet. I think they have until seven o’clock to put this in the Gazette. I don’t see why they would wait until Sunday, but if they do publish the Budget, you know what you should be doing over the next few days.
702 caller: I have a revocable trust; can I use that to exchange?
RayRen: For what reason?
Caller: You keep saying you should put it in an entity.
RayRen: That’s not a reason. WHY do you want to put it in a trust – what is your purpose for doing that? Saying that I said to do it is not a reason.
Caller: Can I change my revocable trust into an irrevocable trust?
RayRen: I doubt it; you might be better off creating a new one.
808 caller: Is an LLC considered an entity? I’ve already put half of my currencies in there for exchange, so I can present that as a separate entity from myself.
RayRen: Yes, although it’s just a pass-through for you.
Next caller: Do we still exchange up to one million dollars through the teller?
Tony: We haven’t been updated on any changes so far.
Next caller: Remember to be anonymous and confidential after your exchange. Don’t go anywhere ‘old’ with your new computer, phones, whatever. Anything more on the NDA?
Tony: I think that is all still good if that is what you have decided to do. Some want to get off the internet altogether because of FB, banks being hacked, offers and so on.
We haven’t seen the NDA yet, but will do what we can about letting you know.
860 caller: You said something about an affidavit when you purchase for others. I had several people create a notarized letter saying they asked me to buy X currency at Y price for them – they are out of state. Do I have to do more than that?
Tony: No, that should be fine as a paper trail.
Closing Statement
Tony: That’s all the information we have: they are trying to get it in the Gazette today, and we really should see this by Sunday or sooner.
RayRen: Keep believing. We do.
