The Director General of the Customs of the Kurdistan Region, Samal Abdulrahman, that it was agreed on a unified tariff schedule in all of Iraq, based on the tariff of the region, and that the tariff will be uniform at all border crossings of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
This came in a press statement made this morning, Sunday, February 17, 2019, Samal Abdul Rahman, announced the adoption of customs tariff for the Kurdistan Region as a basis for a unified tariff schedule in all of Iraq.
Abdulrahman said that the customs tariff that was followed in Iraq, was complex, and that this is the first time that the adoption of a unified customs tariff for the whole of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The Director General of the Customs of the Kurdistan Region that the agreement on the unification of customs tariff came as a result of serious work between the Joint Commissions of Customs of the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi Customs Authority, and welcomed the establishment of the Iraqi customs authority to remove the customs controls that were established on the main roads leading from Mosul and Kirkuk to the Kurdistan Region.
He stressed that the customs of the Kurdistan Region will abide by its agreement with the Iraqi Customs Authority and the unification of customs tariffs at all border crossings, noting that the unified schedule of tariffs in the whole of Iraq was adopted mostly on the tariff for the Kurdistan Region because it is newer and easier to apply, stressing that the new tariff takes into account, Conditions of citizens, especially those with limited income.
