The country is setting up an inter-bank foreign exchange market and wants to “establish an exchange rate between the current monetary balances and foreign currency,” he said in a monetary policy statement delivered in the capital, Harare, on Wednesday.

"The Saudi-Iraqi coordination council will be held in Baghdad next March, and many agreements are expected to be signed and several projects will be launched between the two countries on the sidelines of the meeting," the newspaper quoted Saudi Ambassador to Iraq Abdulaziz al-Shammari as saying in a press statement . "The Saudi-Iraqi relations are at their best. There will be a close visit by Iraqi officials to Saudi Arabia. There will also be agreements signed and projects launched in March, and in the next two months visas will be granted to Iraqis from Baghdad and the official opening of the Saudi consulate there," he said . As for the Arar border crossing between the two countries, the Saudi ambassador in Baghdad said that "his country fulfilled its commitment to establish the port from the Iraqi side, and that the construction operations have already begun through a Saudi company," and expected to complete the work in less than 4 months from now . "We expect the opening of the port officially in June," he said, adding that "Saudi Arabia has pledged to build a full Iraqi port and equip it with all the requirements required by any port, infrastructure, office equipment and technical inspection devices, and within four months will be ready . " Shammari pointed out that the border port with Iraq will contain the largest commercial exchange between the two countries and will be on the Saudi side. He added that with the opening of the port all the goods imported by the Iraqi merchants from Saudi Arabia will cost less, instead of entering through neighboring countries will be the entry of these goods directly, and this will affect the economic movement inside Iraq. Al-Shammari explained that Iraqi businessmen and traders can use Saudi ports on the Red Sea for import and export operations. "Iraqis can also use Saudi ports on the Red Sea to export and import from Europe and Africa. At the end of his speech, Shammari said that "the opening of Arar port on both sides and the largest arena for trade exchange will have a very positive return on the northern border area and the revival of trade and economic movement." The Iraqi border crossing authorities announced earlier in last year, the launch of the company, "Sweilem" Saudi Arabia work to develop the second part of the Arar border crossing between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, which is intended to increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries . Kurdistan Region ups plant imports to 10 million annually
Iraq, February 20, 2019
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The improving economy in the Kurdistan Region and the end of ISIS conflict has paved the way for businessmen to import more plants as demand has risen.
“Due to stability, the improvement of financial status and an increase in people’s awareness level, businessmen import about 7-10 million plants to the Kurdistan Region in addition to local production,” Hussein Hamakarim, head of Kurdistan Region’s Planting and Forests General Directorate, told Rudaw.
He added a considerable amount of these plants are later sent elsewhere in Iraq.
The number was 4.5 million in 2013 and even worse a year later when ISIS took control of some Iraqi areas, as people in the Kurdistan Region were focused on the conflict.
The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources has 32 nurseries, producing nearly 5 million plants annually.
Hamakarim said that the government has supported the nurseries by providing them with discounted prices or even free plants.
Some small initiatives have been undertaken in the Kurdistan Region to make it literally greener with more flora. However, climate change and the damming of rivers by Iran and Turkey have hindered the process.
In some areas, forest park rangers joined the Peshmerga during the ISIS conflict, leading Kurdistan’s forests unprotected. Many people used lax enforcement to harvest trees in a region where mudslides are a regular occurrence during the rainy seasons.
The Kurdistan Region’s economy is heavily dependent upon its oil industry. The government has announced plans to diversify the economy through gas, tourism, and imports.
The only land crossing into Iraq is at the Kurdistan Region’s Ibrahim Khalil crossing. It connects Sirnak in Turkey with Zakho.
Because of conflict in Syria, the route is also the primary land bridge between Europe and Iraq.
Washington offered to build a nuclear plant on a neighboring country
Editorial date: 2019/2/20• 222 times read
A report by the Democratic Party in Congress revealed that some officials in the administration of US President Donald Trump offered Saudi Arabia to build nuclear power plants on its soil, the Washington Post reported.
The report pointed out that the members of the National Security Council and other senior officials in the White House, objected to the discussions of the US administration with the authorities of the Kingdom, which began in 2017.
The report pointed out that the effort to promote nuclear sales continued under the leadership of retired general Michael Flynn, who briefly served as a national security adviser, pointing to discussions in the Oval Office last week.
The report, prepared by Democratic Rep. Elijah Kamings, chairman of the Congressional Oversight and Reform Committee, is based on documents obtained from some officials and insiders within the White House, whose names have not been disclosed.
In contrast, members of the Republican Party objected to the report, stressing that they did not receive any copy of it before the presentation, and did not have the opportunity to assess it fully. According to the Cummings report, one of the manufacturers of power plants, Westinghouse Electric, is likely to provide the Kingdom with the technology if consultations are completed between the two sides.
In a report released last December, the Saudi Gazette said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed a significant increase in electricity consumption, pointing out that to meet the increasing demand for energy in response to economic growth, Saudi Arabia is turning to nuclear energy to diversify production and generate electricity on the one hand and reduce reliance on Fossil fuels on the other.
The kingdom plans to build two large nuclear reactors under the program to build 16 nuclear reactors over the next 20 years at a cost of more than $ 80 billion.
Saudi Arabia, South Korea, France, the United States and Russia have applied to participate in the construction of nuclear reactors in the Kingdom, which is expected to start at the time Early 2019 after conducting semi-annual engineering surveys to build a nuclear power plant Al-Eidani: We welcome the decisions of the Council of Ministers on improving services in Basra

2-19-2019 Newshound Guru Kaperoni If and when the CBI begins to float the dinar it could take 6 months to 2 years to delete the zeros (raise the value enough where the zeros are gone). Remember if the CBI is going to do this event it will be in conjunction with investment capital coming to Iraq. The more capital the greater the inflationary pressure meaning the faster it could rise. The 2012 IMF Article IV Consultation with Iraq descibed the process and event as the Balassa-Samuelson effect.
