The Arab Monetary Fund held a “remote” workshop to review the frameworks adopted by the “Bunaa” Arab Payments platform, owned by the Fund, in applying international compliance standards with regulations and rules for combating money laundering and combating terrorist financing, ensuring the security of information and protecting the data of the banks participating in Platform.

The Council of Ministers holds its nineteenth regular session chaired by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi 

Today, Sunday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi presided over the nineteenth regular session of the Council of Ministers, in which the latest developments and general events in the country were discussed, as well as the topics included in the agenda.

At the beginning of the session, Mr. Al-Kazemi referred to the assassination of civil activist Ihab Jawad Al-Wazni, which was carried out yesterday evening in Karbala Governorate, and his Excellency directed the Ministry of Interior agencies to quickly investigate and uncover the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Mr. Al-Kazemi stressed that the killers of the activist Al-Wazzani will not escape from the grip of justice, and they will be pursued and punished for every criminal who seeks the same tampering with public security.

His Excellency stated that the criminals, after having gone bankrupt in the events of chaos, have tended to assassinate unarmed activists, but the law will hold them accountable and impose the most severe penalties on them.

In the context of the session, the Prime Minister directed all ministries to mobilize efforts and overcome all obstacles that stand in the way of providing services to citizens, especially in the field of electricity.

And on the recurrence of incidents of burning agricultural crops in a number of governorates, His Excellency directed the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and governors to take measures to prevent these accidents and limit their recurrence annually.

The Prime Minister also directed the Municipality of Baghdad to assume its full responsibility and carry out its duties in carrying out large-scale cleaning campaigns to revive the capital, raise waste and preserve green areas and public parks.

The Cabinet session witnessed a review of the Ministry of Health report regarding the Corona pandemic and the developments of the work of the Committee for Promoting Governmental Measures in the areas of prevention and control of health awareness regarding limiting the spread of Coronavirus, government procedures for spreading awareness of the risks of the pandemic, and the efforts of the Ministry of Health in providing vaccines and urging citizens to take them.

1- Approving the allocation of the Ministry of Finance (3) billion dinars to the works of erecting new pumping stations, with rehabilitation and maintenance of old stations in all governorates in the Ministry of Water Resources, from the emergency reserve for the fiscal year / 2021.

2- Approving the allocation of the Ministry of Finance (3) billion dinars for rehabilitation and lining works of Shatra and Al Kasr in Dhi Qar Governorate to the Ministry of Water Resources, from the emergency reserve for the fiscal year / 2021.

3- Approving the allocation of the Ministry of Finance (3) billion dinars for the work of raising mud and alluvial deposits from the dams of Diyala Governorate, to the Ministry of Water Resources, from the emergency reserve for the fiscal year 2021.

Second: Approving the exclusion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' contract with the Allianz Company from Controls No. (3) attached to the Instructions for Executing Government Contracts (2 of 2014), due to the late arrival of the company's letter of guarantee after the bidding process, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs bears the correctness of procedures for opening and analyzing bids for the contract in question. And all other matters and the extent of its compliance with the law and instructions in force.

Baghdad Mayor: We will launch a major campaign after Eid

Baghdad Mayor Alaa Maan announced, on Sunday, that major projects will begin to be implemented in the capital after Eid al-Fitr, indicating that Arab companies have submitted bids to implement projects in the capital.

In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency, Maan said, "A number of projects will be launched after the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, including first the major cladding campaign for the entire city of Baghdad, with its two sides Al-Karkh and Al-Rusafa, the development of a number of important streets in Baghdad, as well as building bridges to withdraw traffic momentum and bottlenecks."

Maan talked about the file of the pedestrian bridges that the Municipality intends to implement by saying, "There are two models for pedestrian bridges and we have not settled on either of them so far. Representative economics: Amending the investment law in Iraq needs one week

Mubasher: The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee in Iraq confirmed today, Sunday, that the amendment of the investment law depends on the work of the House of Representatives during the coming period.

A member of the committee, MP Mazen Al-Faili, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The amendment of the investment law depends on the work of the House of Representatives through regular working hours and sending a letter to the committee during the coming period."

He added, "Amending the law does not require a great effort, but rather amending the paragraphs that need to be amended, hosting officials, then reading it a first and second reading and then voting on it," stressing that "this process only needs one week."

Earlier, the head of the National Investment Commission, Suha al-Najjar, confirmed the existence of gaps in the Iraqi investment law.

And she said in an interview with the "Missing Facts" program broadcast by Al-Iraqiya Al-Akhbariya and followed by (conscious), that "the Iraqi investment law contains minor gaps, and for many years corruption has dominated investment."

She added, "Corruption and political pressures have delayed the completion of investment projects for years," noting that "most investment projects have been restricted to some people for years."

She pointed out that "there are huge numbers of fictitious residential and agricultural projects," noting that "the fake projects are a burden on the organization."

She explained, "About 1000 fake licenses were granted 10 years ago," stressing that "some investors are working to establish 20 percent of the project to obtain exemptions."
