Today, Saturday, the State of Law coalition revealed feasible ways to resolve the political crisis and proceed with the formation of the new government, while the return of parliament sessions was considered a "step in the right direction."

The representative of the coalition, Muhammad Al-Sudani, said in an interview with the "Information" agency, that "convening the parliament session and electing the first deputy is a good step after a hiatus of more than two months," calling on "the parliamentary committees to carry out their daily work, as it is the basis of the parliament's work."

Earlier, the House of Representatives held its first session after a hiatus of more than two months after the demonstrators entered the parliament.

New bombing targets Iranian Kurdish opposition in northern Iraq

link

Strikes attributed to Iran on Saturday targeted the sites of an Iranian Kurdish armed organization in the Kurdistan region in northern Iraq, an official said, days after the bombing that killed 14 people in the region

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced Thursday evening that it will continue its attacks in Iraqi Kurdistan against armed groups affiliated with the Iranian Kurdish opposition, which Tehran describes as "terrorists."

"Iranian forces bombed with artillery and drones our areas of presence in the Halgurd Mountains" near the border with Iran, Atta Nasser, a leader in the Iranian Kurdish opposition's Komala - Industrious Party, told AFP.

"The bombing led to the destruction of our headquarters, but without any losses in our ranks," he added.

For more than a week, Iran has launched sporadic strikes in northern Iraq, the most violent of which was on Wednesday, with more than 70 missiles and drone strikes in the autonomous region, targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition groups.

At least 14 people, including a pregnant woman, were killed in this bombing, and 50 others were wounded, "most of them are civilians, including children under the age of ten," according to the region's counter-terrorism agency.

The Revolutionary Guards said in a statement on Thursday that it had "launched a series of operations against terrorist bases and headquarters in northern Iraq using all types of missiles, combat drones and suicide drones."

He stressed that "these operations will continue until the terrorist groups are disarmed," calling on the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government "to take their responsibilities more seriously towards Iran as a neighbor."

The Revolutionary Guard accused the Kurdish groups stationed in Iraq of "attacking and infiltrating Iran to destabilize security, provoke riots and spread unrest."

These strikes come as protests have continued in Iran since mid-September against the backdrop of the killing of 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish Mahsa Amini after she was arrested by the morality police.

The Kurdistan region of Iraq includes the headquarters of Iranian leftist Kurdish opposition parties and organizations that have historically fought an armed rebellion against the regime in Iran, but their military activities have declined in recent years

Chatham House: Corruption in Iraq is caused by the US-led coalition

link

A report by the American Chatham House Institute confirmed that despite the political turmoil in Iraq that killed dozens of Iraqis, the widespread corruption in the Iraqi government has claimed the lives of many Iraqis without anyone knowing about them.

"The wave of political violence last August attracted the world's attention, but its roots lie in the dynamics of the unresolved conflict in Iraq, which is considered fatal to the citizens, and the current stabilization efforts will not improve," the report, translated by the Information Agency, said.

He added, "Nearly two decades after the invasion of Iraq, the country has never been free of conflict, as structural violence linked to corruption in key sectors harms Iraqis every day. Data revealed that between the years 2006 to 2014, the country lost an estimated $551 billion. As a result of corruption, the ruling elite relies on politically acceptable corruption through a system of ethno-sectarian power-sharing and quotas to benefit from Iraq’s wealth, with an annual budget that can reach $100 billion.”

And he stated that "these huge budgets are ostensibly aimed at providing basic public services. But with corruption, this means that Iraqis do not have enough electricity, many of them do not have clean water and most of the medicines are past their expiration date, as the result contributes to Iraq having one of the lowest average age in the world.

"Most Iraqis are still disappointed with the country's elite and its political system, and with two-thirds of the 42 million Iraqis being young people under the age of 25, the system is less able to absorb the million or so born every year," he said. Hundreds of thousands of graduates are struggling to find jobs while many are fleeing to Europe as migrants.

He noted that "Iraqis were not only hostages to the recent violent clashes, but they were hostages to the political system that was put in place after 2003, when the US-led coalition worked with Iraqi political parties to establish the muhassasa. Since then, this ruling elite has gained its wealth and power from through corruption.

Following the drop in oil prices, an expert clarifies the extent of the "risks" for Iraq

link

Today, Saturday, the economic expert, Nabil Al-Ali, revealed the size of the economic risks to Iraq in the event of a drop in international oil prices, while he expected the country’s revenues to reach more than 90 trillion dinars.

Al-Ali said in an interview with the "Information" agency, that "Iraq will not face a risk in financing financial expenditures after the decline in oil, unless its revenues drop below 55 billion dollars, and this can only be achieved if the price of a barrel of oil reaches less than 45 dollars per barrel."

He added, "The total revenues will reach more than 90 trillion dinars as a result of feeding 55 billion dollars (approximately 80 trillion Iraqi dinars) from the sale of oil, and non-oil government revenues of more than 10 trillion dinars will be added to it," noting that "this is the size of the ruling operational spending. The state, and what is more than that, feeds its investment budget for the implementation of development projects and development and service spending.

The economist explained: "Currently, according to oil prices today, the price of a barrel of oil after dropping to the threshold of $85, but the expected revenues will be around $8.65 billion per month, which exceeds the value of 12.5 trillion dinars, while operational spending does not exceed 7.5 trillion dinars per month. ".

The Iraqi people’s fears about the economic situation continue, and expectations are increasing about the rates of rise and fall in international oil prices, which will directly affect the salaries of employees and worsen the Iraqi economy.

A parliamentary committee calls for the enactment of a law that “obliges” Kurdistan to return oil revenues to Baghdad

link

The Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives confirmed that the regional government did not provide the Ministry of Finance with oil revenues.

Member of the Parliamentary Committee, Alaa Al-Haidari, said that "there are a number of problems between the central and regional governments with regard to oil and its revenues that have spanned for years and still exist," noting that "the regional government did not provide the Ministry of Finance in the current government with the region's oil revenues, at a time when The latter has a share of the general budget.

Al-Haidari added in an interview with the official newspaper, that "it has become necessary to legislate a law obligating the region to return the sums of selling their oil to the federal government," noting that "approximately 18-20 percent of the region's oil is smuggled through international companies, and therefore it must be controlled." Iraqi oil in general and protecting it from smuggling and theft.

Al-Haidari continued, "Although the region's authorities are subject to the Iraqi constitution and courts, the region rejected the decisions of the Federal Court, regretting that the federal government did not take its correct and constitutional role toward the regional government's rebellion in this regard, which led to the suspension and exacerbation of problems."

He touched on "the necessity of dealing in accordance with the law with all provinces without exception," noting that "Basra governorate exports daily 3 million and 800 thousand barrels of oil per day through the southern outlets, and therefore the region's share cannot be taken from Basra oil revenues, and often the share of the province is lower than the rest of the provinces.

Today, Saturday, the Central Committee of the Tishreen protests issued its final statement, following protests in the capital, Baghdad, some of which are still ongoing.

Here is the text of the closing statement:

(end letter)

In the measure of the people of determination, wills
come, and they come according to the measure of the noble
, and the little ones
are magnified in the eyes of the small, and they become small in the eyes of the great and great.

Here we stand together today, to commemorate one of our greatest days in the path of freedom and struggle for a united Iraq. We have sacrificed pure blood to pave the way to our supreme goal, the goal of changing the existing political system in Iraq, the system that caused the destruction of the country and exhaustion of the people.

O sons of our beloved people:
It is not hidden from you that the corrupt authorities and political parties are reckless, which divided Iraq into shares, and because of them provinces fell, and thousands were displaced. Young women, and supported their stinking financial coffers from the wealth of the people. Most of the leaders of these corrupt political forces and their symbols have openly admitted their corruption, dividing the (cake) among them, buying and selling positions, and offering obedience and loyalty to foreign countries and powers that do not want the good of a united Iraq and its people. Until Iraq is at the bottom of the list of the most corrupt and poorest countries.
Isn't it time to stop these farce and setbacks?! Isn't it time for them to go to build the country?! Sons of our great people: Say your final word in the face of tyrants and corrupt people, for today is your day, and history records your honorable stances for you.
Accordingly, we will summarize what we want very clearly, and we only want a strong united Iraq (the master of himself), in which the people choose the form of their political system and authorities.

First:
Our goal is to change the existing political system and to zero in on the entire existing political process, so that the Iraqis can build a new political system, with a constitution and a new social contract, formulated by a sample of Iraq's national competencies, to get rid of this hybrid system designed with foreign hands.
We believe in the peaceful, nonviolent struggle, which adopts peaceful mechanisms of escalation and organized pressure, which needs a long breath without getting bored or tireless, so we will give all political forces until the twenty-fifth of this October, to leave the political process and zero it, otherwise we are moving forward with steps and mechanisms A larger and broader escalation, and we will not give them a chance to rest.

In this regard, we demand an interim transitional government under international supervision, led by an elite of patriots, provided that there is no person in it from the political and partisan process that led the country to its loss since 2003 until now, and this speech includes the existing executive authority represented by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

Second:
From their law, which they enacted with their own hands, which is the Political Parties Law of 2015, we will obligate them to what they committed themselves to, as a team of national lawyers will move to file lawsuits against the parties in power, most of which violate the parties law, which stipulates not to involve parties with armed links or with unknown sources of funding. by elections.

Third:
Parallel to the legal work above, we will start from now on a million-dollar campaign to collect the signatures of the people for a petition rejecting this corrupt regime and its abhorrent policies, which we invite all Iraqis to participate in, and in this context we will have a field and electronic campaign, we will publish its details and the way to participate in it later.
We will also work to raise this campaign of signatures to the concerned authorities and to the international community in the United Nations and its bodies, to convey the voice of the Iraqi people to reject injustice, corruption and the monopoly of power, with all possible tools. Our message to them is that Iraq is a participant in most international agreements and treaties, and that you are one of the founders of this system, which has transgressed all moral, political and international principles and covenants, so you must have a clear word in support of the steps of the Iraqi people rejecting humiliation, corruption and injustice.

In conclusion...
To our beloved people and fellow protestors: We invite you - of all your dispositions - to prepare on the next twenty-fifth, to put an end to this noise and corruption, if the political forces do not respond to the demand for the political process to be zeroed.
Our loved ones, we are in one trench, and we work for a common goal, so we must be cooperating and not dissenting, and we must support each other even if we differ in some mechanisms and slogans. Our lofty goal is enough to rise hand in hand, and start a new phase, which will be crossed by the fingers of loyal Iraqis...
We also want to remind our beloved people of the fierce media confrontation that we will witness from now on after our statement, and we advise everyone not to be drawn into the claims of the power parties, because they will work, as usual, to Misleading news, discrediting the protesters with their immoral methods known to you, and you will launch despicable attacks through their paid cyber armies...
Peace be upon Iraq and its people.

The death toll from the demonstrations in Tahrir Square in Baghdad has risen to 63 demonstrators, 40 affiliates and officers

link

The Iraqi channel reported on Saturday that the death toll from the demonstrations that started on Saturday in Tahrir Square in the capital, Baghdad, rose to 63 demonstrators and 40 members and officers of the security forces.

The channel quoted an unnamed Iraqi security source as saying that more than 40 members and officers were injured as a result of stones, Molotov cocktails and hunting rifles, while 63 demonstrators were injured, suffocated, as a result of rubber bullets, tear gas and stampede.

An Iraqi security source had announced - earlier on Saturday - that more than 27 demonstrators were injured by suffocation and others as a result of rubber bullets and tear gas canisters, as well as the injury of more than 24 members and officers during the demonstrations that the country witnessed.

It should be noted that Iraq suffers from a state of political impasse following the holding of the parliamentary elections in October 2021, the faltering formation of a new government in Baghdad according to the results of the elections announced on November 30, 2021, and the resignation of the Sadrist movement’s representatives (74 deputies) from Parliament on June 12 last, On July 25, the Iraqi "coordinating" framework put forward Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani as a candidate to head the Iraqi government, which was rejected by the supporters of the "Sadr movement" and stormed the Iraqi parliament in the heavily fortified Green Zone twice within three days, and announced an open sit-in at the parliament headquarters on July 30, 2022.

The political tension in Iraq increased after supporters of the Sadrist movement stormed the Iraqi government headquarters on August 29, 2022, hours after the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr announced his final retirement from political work and the closure of all institutions. Armed clashes and explosions took place inside the Green Zone in the center of the capital, which resulted in casualties; During which al-Sadr called for an end to the sit-in of his supporters inside the Green Zone in central Baghdad.
