Foreign currency markets in Iraq recorded, today, Wednesday, a stability in the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
The selling and buying prices of the dollar in banking companies and bureaus came as follows:
The selling price of one dollar is 1235 dinars, or 123 thousand and 500 dinars per hundred dollars.
The purchase price of the dollar is 1225 dinars, or 122 thousand and 500 dinars per hundred dollars.

The Asian markets closed  mixed   NIK up by  .70%  HSI down  by .36%  SHANG down by .34%
The UK markets are currently trading all in the green mostly about 1.5%

Deputy: Parliament will hold a voting session for the vacant ministries at the end of next week

 Member of Parliament’s Bloc of Wisdom Abbas Sarrout announced that the House of Representatives will hold a session to vote on the remaining ministries of Al-Kazemi’s government at the end of next week.
“The political blocs will start intense meetings starting next Saturday to agree on the names of the candidates for the seven vacant ministries,” Carout said in a press statement.
He stressed that "the political blocs are determined to end the file of the vacant ministries next week in order for the parliament to devote itself to pass the important laws that the government needs to get out of the difficult situation the country is going through in various fields."

Khamenei representative apologizes to young protester shot by plastic bullets


Iranian news agencies on Monday reported that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's representative in Khuzestan has visited the families of those injured with plastic bullets on May 23 during protests for lack of drinking water.
In a video published by Fars News Agency, Seyed Abdolnabi Mousavifard, Khamenei's representative in the oil-rich province, is seen at the home of a young man whose leg was badly injured by anti-riot plastic bullets during the peaceful protest rally.
Photos of the young man and his injured leg have widely been circulated on social media. The incident has turned into the hottest issue on Iranian social media in the past few days.
"I'm here to apologize to this young man," Khamenei's representative tells the young man and his family in the video.
Widespread protests shook Iran last November when security forces killed hundreds of protesters. Another wave of protests cannot be ruled out given the country's dire economic situation.
Security forces fired tear gas and plastic bullets into the crowd of residents in Gheizaniyeh district, 45 kilometers from the provincial capital Ahvaz. The residents of the district had gathered in front of the district governor's office and then blocked a road in protest to their drinking water being cut-off.
The Police Commander of Ahvaz claimed that the police had to use anti-riot plastic bullets when the protesters attacked the police with stones and sticks.
President Hassan Rouhani on Monday instructed the Minister of Energy and the Governor of Khuzestan to take immediate measures to resolve the problem of drinking water in the district. The Governor, Gholamreza Shariati, has also apologized to the residents and promised to resolve their water issue within two weeks.

Al-Kazemi’s government breathes a sigh of relief temporarily after securing one-month salaries

Informed Iraqi sources revealed that "Iraq's revenues from selling oil, between the beginning of last March and the end of May, will reach about $ 5 billion at best, while the actual salaries need is approximately $ 12 billion, which puts the government in the face of a devastating deficit."

The government decides to send a draft budget for 2020 after the Eid holiday

Iraq pushes for Rescheduling of Reparations to Kuwait

Iraq's Minister of Finance, Ali Allawi, arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for talks with senior officials.
Mr. Allawi held discussions with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, on bilateral relations and delivered a written message from Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
He also held talks with the Minister of Finance, Barrak Al-shootan, the Minister of Oil, Khaled Al-Fadhel, the Deputy Foreign minister, Khaled Al-Jarallah and other senior Kuwaiti officials.
The discussions focused on taking forward and implementing the decisions of the International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq held in Kuwait in February 2018, linking the electricity grids of the two countries, and rescheduling Iraq's compensation payments to Kuwait.
The two sides also discussed encouraging Kuwaiti investment in Iraq, especially in the commercial and industrial sectors, and in infrastructure.
Mr. Allawi earlier visited Saudi Arabia where he held talks with Saudi officials on deepening economic and commercial and cooperation.

Experts: VN must take steps to attract FDI leaving China

Vietnam has some great advantages while competing with regional countries in attracting capital flows moving out of China after the Covid-19 pandemic, experts have said.
A report by US-based SSI Research said foreign projects set up in industrial parks in the country were up 32 per cent year-on-year in the first four months of the year to $9.8 billion.
The pandemic has shown that many large countries’ supply chains are heavily dependent on China, and they have taken drastic steps to cut this dependency.
Many large US, Japanese and European companies are gearing up to shift production away from China. Vietnam is one of their destinations besides some others in the region such as Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
The report said: “Compared to Indonesia, which directly competes with Vietnam in attracting FDI [foreign direct investment], Vietnam has the advantage of proximity to China.
“Vietnam also offers support to businesses, with many incentives for large FDI projects, and has a lot of free trade agreements in which Indonesia does not participate. Recently the Vietnamese dong has been very stable compared to the Indonesian rupiah.”
Vietnam Association of Foreign Investment Enterprises vice-chairman Nguyen Van Toan said the opportunity to attract the FDI wave looking to relocate from China is quite clear, but not really big, and whether the opportunity can be grasped depends largely on Vietnam.
“We also need to be aware that investors will not easily pull out all investment from China because that country has great advantages such as a strong work force, good use of technology and products for all market segments, not just the affordable segment.”
Vietnam would face difficulties in competing with so many rivals to attract a part of the capital flows moving out of the neighbouring country, he said.
Experts agreed that to compete in the race, the country would need to change its way of attracting FDI and quickly.
Phan Huu Thang, former director of the Foreign Investment Agency, said: “[We] will fail if we try to attract foreign investment in the traditional way.
“For example, India has immediate policies to allocate land, prepare infrastructure, identify potential investors to approach, announce tax reduction plans.
“Investors are gearing up to shift their production. If we continue to act slowly, we will miss an opportunity that comes once in 100 years.”
Toan said Vietnam needed to further improve its business and investment environment and administrative procedures.
He believes that Ho Chi Minh City, which leads the country in FDI attraction, has all the conditions and capacity required to make good use of this opportunity.

5-26-2020   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat   ...We know for a FACT that if they had already accomplished this event back in 2013 or sooner...they might not be this financial mess they are in...reinstating their currency on FOREX is the cure all for Iraq’s economic problems...But having reinstated the IQD with a sound monetary policy would have helped to avoid these problems that they are now facing...They seem to be slowly leaning towards this decision... and  I believe that they have already come to the conclusion they must revalue and reinstate the currency and do it prior to the July salaries coming due...We have a really good opportunity to see the reinstatement sometime in June of this year not Jan 2021...What is left now is to wait for something from the CBI and I will be totally convinced they are moving ahead and actually plan to do it this time...      [post 2 of 2]

5-26-2020   Newshound/Intel  Guru Mnt Goat   So, we see in today’s news yet more arguments about whether to float the dinar or not. Floating the dinar is bad, but ONLY if floating is kept on the program rate and not reinstated for global trading. This is coming from the CBI not me, just so you know. So we see lots of arguments for pro and con on this subject matter but remember again they are talking about program rate only with the confines of the CBI and not on FOREX which is  international.  ...Will they reinstate international and then float the currency like they need to do? ...We know this has been the plan all along to float the IQD on FOREX. The IMF has already told us of the future plan to reinstate and put the IQD in a “basket of currencies”.   [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

5-26-2020   Intel Guru Delta   ...great information from the Financial Minister.  In his tweet he's talking about they're tying to get Iraq back to the financial status internationally.  Guess what happened?  He just have [gave] an executive order and he ordered the Central Bank of Iraq with other financial entities in Iraq to implement and launch that ASAP so Iraq can regain their financial status internationally...the glory days...they have to activate whatever they needed to implement from the Prime Minister and the Office of Financial Ministry...this is just amazing.  This is just unbelievable...

Then, moving along from that, banks are closed and a holiday ensues for five days to mark Eid Al-Fitr a time of giving.
