Iraqi Parliamentary Vote Could Promote Stability

https://financialtribune.com/articles/national/82562/iraqi-parliamentary-vote-could-promote-stability
Monday, February 26, 2018
An Iranian lawmaker said the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq could be a turning point toward more stability and prosperity for a nation still trying to get rid of the remnants of the self-styled Islamic State terrorist group.
Fatemeh Zolqadr told ICANA in a recent talk that "the parliamentary elections, if held in a transparent way and with the participation of all ethnic and political groups, could lead to stability and progress in Iraq."
Iraq's parliamentary elections were set for May 12 following a heated debate over efforts to delay them. This will be the first elections since the defeat of IS and reconstruction efforts are a key focus for the current government as more than one million people return to communities demolished after years of fighting.
The May vote will decide the prime minister who will lead the country for the next four years, a position reserved for the Shia majority.
Zolqadr underlined the significance of an inclusive election, saying that "the participation of all Iraqis from across the political spectrum could help reduce tensions and increase successes."
She also repeated Iran's support for Iraq, irrespective of who wins the race or what party ends up having the majority in the 328-seat assembly, formally known as the Council of Representatives of Iraq.
"The stability of Iraq is beneficial to all in the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran would back the decision of the Iraqi people," she added.
Incumbent Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is seen by the analysts of having a better chance of winning another term in office, buoyed by a surge in popularity for successfully leading the war on IS militants.
Among other contenders for the top executive job are former prime minister Nuri al-Maliki and Hadi al-Amiri, a former transportation minister who bolstered his clout during the war on IS.

Baghdad Can Use KRG Pipeline to Export Kirkuk Oil: KRG

ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is ready to allow the Iraqi government export Kirkuk oil via the Kurdish pipeline on the international markets.
“The Iraqi government can export the produced oil through the Kurdistan-Turkey pipeline where the state-owned SOMO manages the sale which would eventually bring more revenue to the country,” KRG Spokesperson Safin Dizayee was quoted by Kurdistan 24.
The official said Baghdad is currently exporting between 40,000 to 50,000 barrels of oil from Kirkuk to neighbouring Iran while the remaining crude is dropped back into the wells.
He revealed that the issue was discussed in the ongoing meetings between Erbil and Baghdad delegations, but a deal is yet to be reached.
Concerning other prolonged disputes between the KRG and Iraqi government, Dizayi said that no practical step has yet been taken by Baghdad towards resolving the issues despite promises.
“The demands they made regarding the number of KRG employees have all been delivered to them, and the auditing has been completed but, so far, no practical steps have been taken by Baghdad,” he stated. “Although Baghdad has expressed its readiness to implement its promises many times, none of them have been implemented yet.”
Asked about the prospects of reopening Kurdistan’s airports, the spokesperson said that there was no decision on resuming the international flights to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports.

WASHINGTON: US forces will remain in Iraq and Syria indefinitely without the need for a new military mandate

Feb 26, 2018

There is no internal or international legitimacy for the US presence in the Middle East Washington - US forces in Iraq and Syria will remain indefinitely after US President Donald Trump announced that his administration did not need a new mandate to keep troops in the war, as the White House indicated there was no need to authorize military force to continue operations. In the Middle East.
The debate returned immediately after the White House announced that Sen. Tim Cain sent a letter to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Matisse requesting further clarification and information on the current efforts of the United States in Syria and Iraq, expressing concern that the United States may lack internal legal status or External to its war in the two countries and sent another message to respond to the response of the US administration to the observations of Congress and its comments on the justification of criticism.
The Trump administration has instructed Deputy Defense Secretary David Trachtenberg to respond by saying that the 2001 mandate to combat extremist terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda authorizes the United States to stay in Iraq and Syria for more than 20 years to address continuing militancy. "He said, adding that the premature withdrawal of US forces would lead to a renewal of the capabilities of terrorist groups after easing pressure on them and restoring control of the territory.
Trump's administration has made clear its position on the lack of necessity for a new mandate. Tillerson and Matisse last October testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the aftermath of the September 11 attacks provided the legal basis for US troops to remain in Iraq. Syria and Iraq.
He said that the 16-year-old conflict has a different kind of war, adding that the mandates for the use of military force for 2001 and 2002 remain a sound basis for the current US military operations against the threat, and Trump administration officials stressed that the original AMF mandate should not be revoked Without an alternative, a mandate not specified by a specific time or geographical area.
The implications are stark, according to many US analysts. There are currently more than 2,000 US troops in Syria and twice as many in Iraq. They were originally sent to the region more than a decade ago in 2001 but with the rise of the "war on terror" "To counter extremist groups, efforts to combat extremism and extremism have increasingly worked without new oversight or approval from Congress.
The efforts to change this reality have made little difference as the Senate voted 61 to 36 against an amendment that would abolish the original military mandate of US forces in Syria and Iraq, an amendment proposed by Senator Rand Paul, who said the United States was engaged in a long war under a mandate that was aimed at Only those who attacked us on September 11, but the war has lost its goals for a long time and without debate in Congress about whether we should go to war or not.
The Trump administration's response was not in the right place, where the White House's interpretation of the US could stay in Syria and Iraq indefinitely, triggering Senator Cayenne, who accused Trump of using the original mandate to justify entirely new and unlicensed measures.
The Trump administration goes further, claiming that the mandate allows the US military to beat forces loyal to the Assad regime in areas free of "da'ash" or to protect partners seeking to overthrow Assad, and accused Cain Trump of acting as king by starting a war New one - sided.
Despite Trump's insistence that US troops remain in the Middle East indefinitely, they do not do so with clear goals. Foreign policy experts have repeatedly criticized Trump's Middle East management policy. The number of civilian casualties has risen to alarming levels since Trump took office. Eligibility in Syria is the bloodiest period yet in the past few weeks. d

Iraq: An Election of Conflicting Interests
Gatestone Institute
Almost 15 years after the war that ended Saddam Hussein's rule in Iraq, the circumstances that led to it and the way it was conducted remain controversial. However, even the most ardent opponents of the war admit that the end of dictatorship in Baghdad gave Iraq an opportunity to seek a different, hopefully better, future which might include democratization. While it is true that democracy cannot be imposed by force it is equally true that force could be used to remove barriers to democracy as Read the full story

2-25-2018 Intel/Newshound Guru sandyf My opinion...article 8 is an absolute must...and they aint there yet...then when they are eligible...IMF can take up to 60 days for a yea or nay vote... so we got a while ...Art 8 is a major bullet point. But it should be remembered the onus is on Iraq, it is up to them to accept the obligations of Art 8, they could remove the IMF issues at any point with the stroke of a pen. It is not about the parallel market rate, it is about the settlement of international invoices at a rate that deviates from the official rate. Vietnam had exactly the same problem and they made it illegal for companies not to settle the transaction at the official rate. If companies made loss/profit on buying the dollars they must show it separately in the accounts. Personally I think that Iraq is holding on to Art 14 for a reason, hopefully as part of some other agenda.

Warnings of wearing new clothes before washing them

BAGHDAD, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Many of us do not think of washing the new clothes he just bought, but they are new, but a dermatologist has revealed the dangers of wearing new clothes without washing them.
The wearing of new clothes without washing them can lead to skin irritation, scabies, lice, or fungal infections, the Independent newspaper reported.
"The clothes we buy from the store are subject to a lot of pollution as a result of wearing them and trying them out by someone else who might have wanted to buy them earlier and could have scabies or lice," Belsito said.
Dermatologist Lindsay Bordon of the Columbia University Medical Center says washing new clothes before wearing them is critical.
A store can host a variety of chemicals, which can be transmitted to your skin and damaged.
The chemicals include a formaldehyde compound, commonly used in clothing to prevent mold, and keep the clothing wrinkle-free. These substances can cause severe reactions, such as skin eczema.
The dyes in clothing can also cause allergies. However, most of these problems can be easily avoided, by washing clothes before wearing them. Finished (1)
