The Federal Court first considered a lawsuit filed by two representatives of the Shiite "coordinating framework"; They are: Alia Nassif and Atwan Al-Atwani, regarding the violations that accompanied the first session of the Iraqi parliament regarding the most numerous parliamentary bloc registered in the first session of the parliament, and the court decided to postpone consideration of the case until February 1 next to complete the discussions.

On the 13th of this month, the court issued a state order to stop the work of the elected Iraqi parliament, headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi and his two deputies, based on the lawsuit.

On the 19th of this month, the court held a first public session devoted to hearing the testimonies of the parties to the case about the disturbances that accompanied the first session of the Iraqi parliament, which caused the transfer of the elderly member of Parliament, Representative Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, who presided over the opening session, to the hospital after he fell ill.

The court judge decided to adjourn the session in order to check the case papers.

The political circles in Iraq are awaiting the outcome of events regarding the expected decision of the court on the constitutionality of the first session of Parliament in order to proceed with the constitutional entitlements to complete building the pillars of the political process represented in electing a candidate for the post of President of the Republic no later than the 9th of next month and assigning a candidate to form the new Iraqi government

Today, Tuesday, a member of the House of Representatives from the Alliance for the People, Nissan Al-Salihi, suggested that the second session of the House of Representatives will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, after the Federal Court decided the constitutionality of the first session, during which the Presidency of Parliament represented by Muhammad Al-Halbousi was elected as president, Hakim Al-Zamili as first deputy, and Shakhwan Abdullah Second deputy.
 
Al-Salihi said in a statement to NRT, "The Federal Court has decided on the constitutionality of the first session of the House of Representatives, and the second session of the Council is supposed to be held during the coming period."
 
It is expected that there will be an invitation to hold the session tomorrow, Wednesday - according to Al-Salihi, but she acknowledges that there is uncertainty about the date of the session so far.
 
For his part, the legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, explained the legality of the date of the second session of the House of Representatives, and what was stated in the Iraqi constitution in this regard.
 
Al-Tamimi said in a statement to NRT, "The constitution stipulates that the second session of the parliament will be held 30 days after the date of the first session of the parliament," noting that "the first session of the current parliament was held on January 9, so the second session is supposed to be held within a period of time. The deadline is February 8, and the Speaker of Parliament will set the date during that period.
 
And he continued, "The second session will witness the election of the President of the Republic by presenting all the candidates for the position, to choose two-thirds of Parliament by raising hands in Parliament, not by secret ballot, and whoever gets the highest votes will be named the position of President of the Republic, and if one of the candidates is not able to obtain the overwhelming majority of votes Voting will be held again.
 
Today, Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court rejected the appeal in the first session of Parliament and canceled the state order to stop the work of the Presidency.
 
Our correspondent, who attended the Federal Court session, said, "The case was rejected by the court regarding the case of Deputy Bassem Khashan, and the first session was considered legitimate, and Muhammad al-Halbousi's nomination was legitimate."
 
The reporter explained that "the Federal Court ruled that MP Khaled Al-Daraji presided over the first parliament session, which does not contradict the provisions of the constitution."
 
He added that "the Federal Court decided to cancel the state order for the temporary suspension of the work of the Presidium of Parliament."
 
The Federal Court had postponed earlier, deciding the appeal in the first session of Parliament until today, Tuesday, 25 January.

The Iraqi Oil Ministry revealed today, Tuesday, that it had held negotiations with an American company to invest in the Crutch gas field in the west of the country.

The director of oil contracts and licenses in the ministry, Ali Maarij, told Shafaq News Agency, "The ministry is negotiating with the American company Halliburton to develop and invest the crutch gas field in Anbar Governorate," noting that "the field's production will be between 400 to 500 million cubic feet per day."

Maarij added, "Many foreign companies applied to invest the field, but the ministry did not contact them to reach an agreement," noting that "the security situation has a major role in the reluctance of companies, but there is encouragement and reassurances from the governorate's operations leadership, the governor, and the political authorities to maintain protection." and security for companies operating in the province.

He pointed out that "the ministry will discuss with foreign companies wishing to invest in the crutch gas field to obtain an agreement, as happened in the Mansourieh gas field."

The Akkas gas field, which was discovered in 1992, is located northwest of Anbar, (25 km southwest of Al-Qaim district on the Euphrates River), and near the Syrian border. 6 trillion standard cubic metres.
