Al-Sadr arrives in Baghdad on a surprise visit
link

An informed political source said that the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, arrived on Wednesday evening to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, to discuss with the political forces to form the next government.
The source told Shafaq News Agency, "Al-Sadr arrived in Baghdad to hold dialogues with a number of political forces, including the coordination framework on forming the new government."
The visit comes hours after the issuance of a statement by the coordination framework in which it warned against the policy of exclusion of political forces from participating in the next government, hinting that this matter might push him to go to the opposition or boycott.
Al-Sadr, whose list topped the elections, had said in a televised statement, yesterday, Tuesday, that he offered the Coordinating Framework Forces to enter into a national majority government on the condition that the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, did not participate, but they refused.
Al-Sadr blames Al-Maliki, who headed the government for two consecutive terms (2006-2014), for rampant corruption and acts of violence in the country, in addition to the ISIS invasion of a third of Iraq in the summer of 2014.
The Sadrist bloc topped the October 10 elections, with 73 seats, followed by the Progress Alliance with 37, the State of Law coalition with 33, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party with 31.
Al-Sadr seeks to form a national majority government, unlike the rest of the coordinating framework forces, which demand a consensual government in which all political forces in Parliament participate, similar to previous sessions.

Iraq.. Al-Kazemi calls for accelerating the formation of the new government
link
Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi called on the country's political forces, on Wednesday, to expedite the formation of the new government in order to meet the requirements of civilians.
Al-Kazemi said on the sidelines of his meeting with residents of the border villages with Syria in Nineveh Governorate (northern) during his visit to the region, that "the security situation is stable and firmly held, and what is said here or there is just media intimidation."
He added, according to a statement issued by his office: "From here, I call on the political brothers to expedite the formation of the government in a manner that meets the needs of citizens in all parts of the country and its lands, from the north to the south and from the east to the west."
And the formation of the new Iraqi government requires first the election of a new president of the republic by Parliament, so that the elected president assigns the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc to form the government within a period of 30 days.
The dispute revolves between the "Coordination Framework" coalition, which includes the State of Law coalition, the Fatah and Victory coalitions, the Movement of Wisdom, and the "Sairoon" coalition led by Muqtada al-Sadr, over the eligibility of any party to nominate a person for the position of prime minister.
The "Coordination Framework" forces hold 88 seats in the Iraqi parliament out of 329 seats, while the "Sairoon" coalition holds 73 seats in parliament.
On Tuesday, the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq (the highest judicial authority) approved the legality of the parliament session, which was held on the 9th of this month, in which Muhammad al-Halbousi was elected Speaker of Parliament for a second term.
On January 13, the Federal Court decided to suspend the work of the Presidency of Parliament until two cases regarding the legality of the first session were resolved by MPs Mahmoud al-Mashhadani (from the "Azm" coalition) and Basem Khashan (independent).
Iraq has been experiencing political tensions since the elections, amid protests by supporters of the losing forces, punctuated by an attempt to assassinate Al-Kazemi in November 2021.

Today, Wednesday, Saudi Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud announced that the electrical connection will produce, as a first stage, one kilowatt of energy, while noting that there are joint industrial projects with Iraq under study .
Al Saud said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Iraqi-Saudi cooperation is a consolidation of the existing, and is not limited to the electrical connection only, but rather is the beginning of a joint collective action."Al Saud added, "We need to develop bilateral models and strengthen them regionally and Arab," noting that "in the p\\
decades there was a patriotic and national feeling, but it is emotional, but now we have gone beyond the passion to concrete action."
He continued, "After working for 43 years as a representative of the Saudi government, no Iraqi government has dealt with any Saudi government with this serious and active sense that is reinforced by the concept of true existing brotherhood, and that it is the basis for cooperation, so the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Crown Prince intervened in addressing everything that hinders the promotion of The relationship between the two countries, which is tangible, and if it were not for that, we would not be celebrating this step today.”
He pointed out that "there are projects related to solar energy and other projects to petrochemicals, in addition to the existence of projects under study that are not limited to the field of energy only, but there are projects related to the industrial sector."
He added, "We do not believe that there is anything restricting the process of cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and all we want is to rush government action between the two countries, and to address all obstacles at the political level, so that citizens feel in a tangible and tangible way the benefit of bilateral cooperation between the two countries."
He explained that "the electrical connection will produce, as a first stage, one kilowatt, but our ambition is greater, and if we look at the three aspects of the bilateral agreement and solar energy projects inside Iraq and the Gulf link, I think it is the beginning of larger and more projects," noting that "the Gulf link had two models, and we are trying comparison between them.
Regarding the establishment of OPEC Plus, Al Saud affirmed, "There are large and influential countries such as Russia that are not a party to OPEC, but the establishment of OPEC Plus in Saudi Arabia is to accommodate countries that want to cooperate but do not want to be a member of OPEC at the same time."
He continued, "We favored the practical side over the emotional side of belonging to the organization, so we made OPEC Plus as a possible incubator for many countries to cooperate, without being a member of OPEC," noting that "OPEC Plus complements and complements the capabilities of OPEC."
It is noteworthy that Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi side in the field of electrical interconnectio.

Will he accept the removal.. Al-Sadr resolves his alliance with Al-Maliki
link

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, has decided his alliance with the head of the "State of Law" coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, stressing that he will not ally with him to form the new Iraqi government.
While Muqtada al-Sadr resolved the controversy over the possibility of his alliance with Nuri al-Maliki, experts on the Iraqi issue warned against the upcoming efforts of the armed factions and obstruction of the expected government.
The forces of the coordination framework, which include Shiite parties and currents close to Iran, are the biggest losers from the developments of the political scene after recognizing the legitimacy of the first session of Parliament.
The secret of the historical enmity
Al-Sadr's refusal is due to the deep and strategic dispute between the two men since Al-Maliki became prime minister of the Iraqi government in 2008.
This hostility, which observers describe as "historic", began in March 2008, when al-Maliki led a fierce military operation called "The Knights of the Knights" targeting the Mahdi Army led by al-Sadr, during which the Iraqi city of Basra turned into a real war zone.
During that battle, the human losses on both sides were estimated at 1500, while the material losses to Iraq amounted to about 27 million dollars, according to media reports, in which the Mahdi Army besieged the presidential palace and Nouri al-Maliki inside, and the latter used helicopters to bomb those gatherings.
At that time, the operation brought to mind the Iran-Iraq war, according to observers, as the Mahdi Army mobilized in other regions of Iraq, the most violent of which was in its stronghold in the Sadr City neighborhood, east of Baghdad.
Commenting on al-Sadr's refusal to ally with al-Maliki, Iraqi political analyst Nadim al-Jabri said that "al-Maliki formed a major node in the dialogue between al-Sadr and the Shiite coordination framework forces since the beginning of the negotiations to form a government."
He explains, in exclusive statements to Arab media, that "the differences between Al-Sadr and Al-Maliki are deep and extend for more than a decade and a half, as the latter organized a campaign of arrests among the followers of the Sadrist movement, known as the "Soul of the Knights", a historical hostility that has now resulted in the removal of Al-Maliki."
Knights of the Knights 2
The differences between the two men continued, and were revealed again in the political scene before the parliamentary elections last October.
At that time, al-Sadr attacked al-Maliki and his political opponents before the elections, calling them "failure and corruption."
In the second "Salaat Al-Fursan" in 2016, Al-Maliki, during his second term, threatened his political opponents to launch another military operation, similar to "Salaat Al-Fursan 1", after massive demonstrations against him in Basra.
During the protests, thousands of angry Iraqis stormed a cultural center where Maliki was addressing his followers, chanting that he was "the leader of thieves and the cause of disasters."
The former Iraqi Prime Minister also faced a storm of anger during his tour of southern Iraq, in the governorates of Dhi Qar, Maysan and Basra.
This anger has not subsided so far in the Iraqi street against al-Maliki, as last Thursday, Iraqis demonstrated in Al-Nusour Square in central Baghdad, demanding the trial of al-Maliki.
There are political and popular parties who hold al-Maliki, who held the position of Iraqi Prime Minister for two terms, responsible for the fall of two-thirds of Iraq into the hands of ISIS in 2014, as well as the massacre of the Speicher military base in Tikrit in 2016, where 1,700 soldiers were shot dead.
Will al-Maliki accept the displacement?
And Iran failed to bring the views closer between Al-Sadr and Al-Maliki, after the former insisted on removing the latter from forming the government.
Last week, Tehran pushed, with its representative, Esmail Qaani, commander of the Quds Force, to Baghdad to contain the crisis between the two parties and to secure a safe exit for al-Maliki.
But Qaani was surprised by Al-Sadr's refusal to ally with Al-Maliki, and his adherence to the slogan of forming an Iraqi government, "neither Eastern under the command of Tehran nor Western, loyal to Washington."
"Iran failed to end the differences between the two largest blocs (the coordination framework and the Sadr bloc), and it also failed to persuade al-Sadr to ally with Nuri al-Maliki," according to Jordanian writer Muhammad Salama.
Muqtada al-Sadr insists not only on excluding al-Maliki from forming the government, but on referring his files to the judiciary on charges of corruption and his actions during his tenure as prime minister of the Iraqi government, according to what Salama said in an article.
Here, the head of the "Thikr" political center in Iraq, Dr. Ihsan Al-Shammari, expected that "the framework forces will abandon al-Maliki and agree with al-Sadr, provided there are guarantees that he and his bloc will not be pursued politically and judicially, and that files relating to their executive and parliamentary performance will not be opened."
And about the possibility of al-Maliki accepting what is described as a “silent exit,” al-Shammari affirms, that “the head of the State of Law coalition will accept this role if political settlements take place that guarantees him space in the Iraqi parliament or chairs parliamentary committees.”
He also warned that "the Shiite factions, after losing successive political battles and following the Federal Court's decision to legalize the first session of Parliament, will try to obstruct the government and create crises."
But Al-Jabri says: "In any case, the forces of the framework are outside the calculations of the upcoming political scene and have no ability to intercept the new convoy that will be led by the three winners, Al-Sadr, Al-Halbousi and Barzani.
Iran: Iraq must pay gas money to resume
link
On Tuesday, the semi-official Iranian news agency "Fars" reported that Iraq "must" pay its debts to Iran, which amount to billions of dollars for importing gas that feeds power stations .
And the agency said in a report, that the electricity and gas crisis returned to ravage Iraq again, at a time when temperatures in most of the Iraqi governorates reached below zero .
In its report, the agency quoted a spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, asking the Ministry of Finance to pay the debts owed to Iran for importing gas, noting that the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity attributed the reason for the return of the crisis to the interruption of the transmission lines of electric power, which caused the loss of one thousand and one hundred megawatts of energy. electrical .
The agency noted that Iraq relies solely on Iran to import 1,200 megawatts of electricity, as well as import gas to operate power stations, during the past years .
Fares quoted a spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Energy, Ahmed al-Abadi, as saying that the reason for stopping Iranian electricity supplies is Iraq's delay in repaying Iran's debts .
For his part, "Diaa Al-Mohsen", a member of the Iraqi Council of Experts, held the previous Iraqi governments responsible for not finding an alternative to Iranian gas, saying: There is no good Iraqi negotiator to negotiate with Iran, not only in the field of electricity, but in all files, according to "Fares .
The Iranian Agency concluded its report by saying that Iraq must pay its debts to Iran, which amount to billions of dollars, and despite Iranian officials' follow-up to the issue and their repeated visits to Baghdad, the bulk of these debts have not been paid so far .
And earlier today, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Al-Abadi, revealed to Shafaq News Agency, that there are negotiations with the Iranian side in order to resume the release of gas supplied to Iraqi electrical stations .
Iraq has been suffering from a chronic electricity shortage crisis for decades as a result of the siege and successive wars. The population has been protesting for many years against the frequent power cuts, especially in the summer, when temperatures sometimes reach 50 degrees Celsius, in addition to the winter season, when temperatures drop below zero degrees Celsius
A government move to form a sovereign fund in Iraq that was supposed to work 18 years ago
link

The Prime Minister's advisor, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, considered today, Wednesday, that the sovereign funds are "not difficult", and he also said that they were supposed to work 18 years ago, that is, after the fall of the regime of former President Saddam Hussein.
Saleh said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, "The sovereign funds that countries take are not difficult to establish, and they are part of the financial surpluses that come to protect the national economy in times of crisis or when prices drop, and they are called stability funds," describing "such an approach as positive, logical and correct." And the budget was supposed to have taken it 18 years ago.”
He added, "There is a tendency at the present time by the Iraqi government to establish a stability or sovereign fund to protect the public budget and the Iraqi economy."
Saleh also pointed out that “sovereign funds have many and varied names,” noting that “the Generation Fund is whenever there are large surpluses of funds, and when the desires of the current generation are not at the expense of the desires and aspirations of the next generation, then certain sums are provided to them from The money will therefore have current and future protection for future generations.”
A sovereign wealth fund or sovereign funds is a state-owned fund consisting of assets such as land, shares, bonds or other investment devices, and these funds can be described as entities that manage state surpluses for investment and promise billions of dollars invested by states in stocks and bonds.

1-26-2022 Intel Guru MarkZ [via PDK] [Does the CBI need to set the dinar rate before we get the RV?] They will have. Keep in mind that when Kuwait changed their rate …we did not see it posted at their central bank until people were already exchanging…they had tried to hide it for about 10 days…So we may not see it at the CBI at first…but we also might…Keep in mind when Kuwait went there was no internet and they could hide it…in today’s day and age with the internet and social media…they may not be able to…we will have to see how it plays out.
1-25-2022 Regular Guy Guru Vital Brad There's many people that believe we're way out there and this is never going to happen and we're crazy lunatics. But what if ...you found an undervalued currency that was decommissioned, a war torn country's currency - they're going to be back in the game and you compare it to their neighboring countries' rates it's going to be a very wealthy valuable currency...I could be completely wrong. This may never happen...this shouldn't be your end game/retirement plan...I'm just a normal guy..you got to make your own financial decisions.
1-25-2022 Intel Guru MarkZ [via PDK] I feel like we can hear something at any moment tonight or maybe tomorrow. I know that a couple groups I speak to still expect their funds on Thursday or Friday. Quote "...restoring the dollar exchange rate to its previous price is a basic requirement." Soon is now...The Father of all articles.
1-25-2022 Newshound/Intel Guru Walkingstick [via Frank26] When the articles were coming out at the end of last year they kept saying by year's end they will be able to have the new exchange rate...this was a verbal communication...from the CBI to the powers to be...of their intent to introduce a new currency and a new exchange rate...This was all done in front of the IMF, the World Bank, AMF etc. etc. etc...IMO as of a few days ago this verbal communication was introduced in a formal written format document which is required by the IMF. Therefor IMO we get closer and closer.
1-25-2022 Newshound Guru Breitling The reality is what they're doing in Iraq is they're hitting everything. All cylinders are hitting perfectly. Everything is firing off and they're doing what they need to do.
1-25-2022 Intel Guru Frank26 [Iraq boots-on-the-ground TV report] FIREFLY: The news is showing where the CBI sent a letter to the government of Iraq about talking and looking into changing the exchange rate...The Minister of Finance came out and said the private banks and our government are all talking with the CBI about the exchange rate...we are excited that they're telling us this. FRANK: That's wonderful news...all this talk about the exchange rate I know is extremely encountering but the promise is what's even more encouraging. You see they promise that they're going to give this new rate to you. The promise is going to be kept to you.
1-25-2022 Intel Guru Holly On Iraq: They don’t have to wait on the government. The goal of the CBI is to change the rate, not seat the government. The new rate will match the notes. Because he promised, it is in print.
1-25-2022 Newshound Guru MilitiaMan ...The education process is clearly in play still for all to see. Talking about the exchange rate process and it’s functions is obviously very timely at this stage. Iraq has many things to export. Oil being number one. There is an abundant amount of natural resources, etc... When they are sold in Dinars it will increase demand for the currency and support it’s value from that exportation process. The Central bank will be in a position to defend the currency to keep it appropriate for international trade. That will require and international exchange rate. Not a program rate they have at present...

The highlights of what was stated in the speech of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi at the Cabinet session 25-1 - 2022
The most prominent of what was stated in the speech of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi in the cabinet session today, Tuesday:

I offer my condolences once again to the families of the heroic martyrs who rose during the past days while defending the homeland and its people, and while they confronted the continuous attempts of ISIS terrorism to destabilize security and stability.

I say to the terrorists: Your attempts will fail and you will have no shelter, and that treachery will not produce a victory, and we have men who have tasted bitter defeat and are still, and they will repeat their epics in the coming days.

The battle against terrorism continues, and the terrorists will not find a place to shelter them in or outside Iraq. We, as Iraqis, will cooperate with the friends of Iraq to pursue terrorists everywhere.

Just as we succeeded in liberating our cities, we will succeed with God’s help in eliminating terrorist groups once and for all, and we fight daily battles with terrorist groups, and we killed many of them in Tarmiyah, and in other areas in Iraq.

I say to our heroic security forces: We must be ready for the challenge and confront terrorist groups, and caution and caution must be taken by adhering to the instructions.

With the Diyala incident, unfortunately, we have seen those who are trying to fight with the blood of Iraqis, and there are those who tried to provide moral support to the enemy from where they do not know, and there are those who contributed to spreading rumors about the collapse of our heroic security forces.
I remind everyone of the readiness of our security forces, which have already made sacrifices for the sake of Iraq, and are continuing to make sacrifices; For the sake of the future of Iraq, and it is unfortunate to see in the social media a moral crisis, and there are those who accuse our heroic army, and challenge its military honor.
The government continues its work and supervises the provision of services until the tasks are handed over to the new government.
We have a real electricity crisis; Because of the weather and the lack of gas supply by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this is one of the previous accumulations of relying on imports from a single source to supply gas instead of benefiting from the Iraqi gas that is burned, and this government started investing in Iraqi gas.
The atmosphere in the region has become cold, and there is a high demand for gas, and this has affected the supply of Iranian gas to Iraq.

We directed the Ministries of Oil and Electricity to cooperate and provide support to generator owners, as well as to provide white oil to citizens.

Al-Rasheed Theater will be an arena for artists to work and we will support them, and what was raised about theater ownership is a routine effort by state departments, and such a situation should not be dealt with out of creating despair and frustration.

False and inaccurate information circulating, unfortunately, has become prevalent, and we hope that the judiciary will take its role and measures in limiting these phenomena, and I hope everyone will be at the level of responsibility and current challenges when transmitting and dealing with information.

I tell the artists, rest assured, Al-Rasheed Theater remains in safe hands. Today, the Minister of Housing asked to transfer the ownership of the land and building to the Ministry of Culture, but unfortunately there were those who dealt with inaccurate and false information; This created a sense that the country was in chaos.

Iraq: The Supreme Court confirms the constitutionality of the election of the Speaker of Parliament
Wednesday 26/1/2022
Yesterday, the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq approved the re-election of Muhammad al-Halbousi as Speaker of the House of Representatives, after an appeal was submitted by two of the parliament's deputies.
"The Federal Supreme Court decided to reject the claim of the plaintiff in the name of Khashan and the plaintiff, Mahmoud Daoud Salman," the chief judge, Jassim Muhammad Aboud, said, after an extensive presentation during the session yesterday. The court indicated that it decided to cancel the previous state order that it had issued regarding the temporary suspension of the work of the Presidency of the House of Representatives.
This decision secures the presidency and members of Parliament to reconvene their sessions.
The Federal Court also decided to postpone lawsuits demanding the announcement of the most numerous parliamentary bloc until the beginning of next February.
Commenting on the Supreme Court's decision, the leader of the Sadrist movement in Iraq, Muqtada al-Sadr, confirmed the move to form a national majority government.
Al-Sadr said in a tweet on his personal account on Twitter, "Once again, the Iraqi judiciary proves its integrity and independence, and that it does not succumb to political pressures. Thank God, and thank you to the Iraqi judiciary."
He added that "with these attitudes, homelands were built," noting that "the formation of a national majority government is proceeding, and our door is still open to those we still think well of." He continued, "Everyone will remain our brothers, even if they adopt opposition or boycott, as long as they strive for reform, and for the prestige of Iraq they are working." Al-Sadr concluded by saying, "No to subordination, no to violence, and no to breaking the law."
This, and after its first session, parliament is supposed to elect, within 30 days, a new president of the republic, who in turn must designate a prime minister within 15 days from the date of his election, to be the candidate of the "largest parliamentary bloc", according to the constitution. The political blocs live in a tense atmosphere during the negotiations they are waging with the aim of forming a parliamentary coalition capable of nominating a prime minister, leading to the formation of a government to run the country for the next four years.
The first session, on the 9th of this month, witnessed altercations over who owns the largest bloc in parliament, between the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr, who won the largest number of seats in parliament and the "coordinating framework" that includes forces loyal to Iran, most notably the Al-Fateh Alliance and the State of Law bloc.

Because of her hatred for him.. The Queen of Britain forbids the introduction of this food into the palace
01/25/2022
Earth News/ A former royal chef revealed a food that Britain's Queen Elizabeth II hates, stressing that she decided to prevent it from eating in the royal palace.
And the British newspaper, “Daily Express”, quoted Darren McGrady, who worked for the Queen and the late Princess Diana as head chef for a long time, as saying that the 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth had ordered the removal of garlic from the menu in all royal palaces in which she resides.
He added, “Queen Thom has never had a menu on my menu; Because she hates its smell and taste.”
McGrady also revealed that there is another food the Queen prefers to avoid, which is onions, saying: "We could never serve anything with garlic or a lot of onions."
He added: “We were also not allowed to serve rare or undercooked meat; Because she always liked well-cooked meat, the Queen was strict about this.”
McGrady also revealed another secret about the royal family, which is that the Queen and the rest of the family like to relax in "Balmoral Castle" in Scotland, and not in any other royal palace. He said: "Balmoral is where the royal family let their hair down. They all love to relax and have fun in that castle.. You can see them relaxed and happy all the time."
And the newspaper pointed out that the royal chef is not the only one who revealed this secret, as Camilla Parker, wife of British Crown Prince Charles, said some time ago that the Queen is not a fan of garlic. When asked what food members of the royal family don't eat, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, said: "I hate to say this, but it's garlic... garlic is banned on the royal menu."
