Iraq Set to Raise Oil Exports

Saturday, September 01, 2018
Iraq sees a need to increase crude exports and says it is set to ship more as soon as OPEC agrees how members will share a collective supply boost, according to the acting director general of the state-run Oil Marketing Company. Exports will be close to 3.59 million barrels per day this month, Alaa Al-Yasiri also said in an interview in Baghdad, World Oil reported. That would be a record, he said, up from 3.54 million bpd in July. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies agreed two months ago to increase oil production, with Saudi Arabia and Russia saying about 1 million bpd will be added to the market. But they did not detail how the production increase would be split between OPEC and non-OPEC nations. A committee of OPEC and allies is scheduled to meet in Algeria next month to discuss allocations. “If decisions are made that the market is in need of [higher] quantities, then Iraq will have the ability to rise,” Al-Yasiri said.

Iraqi Delegation to Seek US Sanctions Exemption

Saturday, September 01, 2018

I raq will send a delegation to the United States seeking an agreement on financial transactions with Iran following Washington’s reimposition of sanctions on Tehran, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday.

His statement was the first by an Iraqi official since Reuters reported last week Baghdad was going to ask Washington for exemptions from some of the sanctions because Iraq’s economy is closely linked with neighboring Iran.

“We have requests for the American side; we have presented them and a delegation will go to negotiate within that framework,” Abadi told a weekly news conference.

“We have presented a clear vision of what Iraq really needs. This includes Iranian (natural) gas, which is very important, as well as other trade and the electricity sector.”

US President Donald Trump withdrew the United States in May from world powers’ 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, calling it flawed and reimposed trade sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

The Trump administration has warned of consequences for countries, including European allies that co-signed the nuclear accord, that do not respect the new sanctions. Baghdad is in a difficult position—as its two biggest allies are the United States and Iran, themselves arch-adversaries.

“We have had good promises initially but as you know the American situation is complicated. You do not deal with one person; there are several institutions,” Abadi said.

He called the sanctions “unilateral” and “oppressive”, adding that Iraq would not be “part of a blockade” due to its own painful experience with international sanctions during the era of the dictator Saddam.

Iraqi government and central bank officials said the delegation would travel to Washington to ask for exemptions in applying the sanctions. They did not say when that trip would take place.

Iran turns Iraq's territory into "ballistic missile base"

Saturday, 2018/9/1

In a move to increase instability in the region, Iran has moved dozens of short-range ballistic missiles to allies in Iraq over the past few months as it seeks to manufacture more missiles there amid mounting tension between Washington and Tehran and serious Israeli threats to Iran.

Iranian, Iraqi and Western sources said Tehran had supplied ballistic missiles to pro-Iraqi groups in order to stave off potential attacks on its interests in the Middle East and to have a way to hit its adversaries in the region.

This comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently threatened to destroy Iran.

"The logic is that Iran has an alternative plan if it is attacked," an official told Reuters. "The number of missiles that have already been transferred to Iraq is not large - just a few dozen, but it can be increased if required."

He said the purpose of the missile transfers was to send a signal to the United States and Israel, especially after air strikes on Iranian forces in Syria, as well as a clear US military presence in Iraq.

"It seems that Iran is turning Iraq into a forward missile base."

According to intelligence sources, Tehran's decision to transfer the missiles was taken about 18 months ago by the use of armed factions in Iraq, but this activity has increased recently, including the arrival of rocket launchers.

"We have missile bases in many places, including Iraq. If America attacks us, our friends will attack the interests of America and its allies in the region," said a senior commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards who served during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s.

The missiles involved are the earthquakes of Khazla, Fateh 110 and Zulfiqar, ranging from about 200 to 700 kilometers, putting Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and Tel Aviv in Israel at a distance that would allow them to be hit if they were deployed in southern or western Iraq. . The Jerusalem Brigade, the external arm of the Revolutionary Guards, has bases in these areas.

Three intelligence sources said Qods Force commander Qassim Soleimani was overseeing the program.

The factories used in the development of Iranian missiles are located in the areas of Zafaraniya, east of Baghdad, and Jafar al-Sakhr, north of Karbala. There is also a plant in Iraqi Kurdistan. These areas are controlled by armed factions close to Iran, according to the intelligence sources contacted by Reuters. The same sources said that Iraqis trained in Iran on how to use rockets.

According to an Iraqi intelligence source, the Zaafaraniya factory produced warheads and the ceramic material used in the manufacture of the missile blocks. The factory was renewed in 2016 by local groups with Iranian help. The same source pointed out that the missiles were tested near the cliff of the rock in Karbala also.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Tehran had delivered missiles to allies in Iraq, but did not confirm the possibility of launching those missiles from their current positions.

Meanwhile, a White House official said the United States would continue to work with its partners and allies to counter destabilizing Iranian activities in the region, including Iraq, the US-based al-Hurra channel quoted the unnamed official as saying.

This came on the sidelines of press reports reported that the leader of the group, "Asaib Ahl al-Haq" Iraqi Qais al-Khazali training in Iranian camps during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, where revealed the minutes of US investigations with Khazali, was kept secret for ten years, was released recently, how Iran moved events In Iraq from behind the curtain after 2003 by providing financial and military support to militia leaders.

Khazali revealed training provided by the Revolutionary Guards to Iraqi militias in three bases near Tehran, including the base of Imam Khomeini. Procedures in Kirkuk to eliminate drug fraud

Strategies to make the most of a wealth windfall.

For every inspirational rags-to-riches tale, there’s a cautionary one: the lottery winner who squandered her wealth or the sports star who went broke a few years after retirement.
A sudden influx of wealth can quickly and dramatically change a person’s life and lifestyle. But the challenges of managing a wealth windfall are many, and the consequences of mismanaging it are severe. “Many sudden-wealth recipients think they have more than they do, so they may develop unsustainable spending habits that they think can last forever,” says Garrett Buchanan, financial consultant for Northern Trust. “But they’re usually wrong.”
If you’re the recipient of sudden wealth, consider these strategies to translate your new affluence into a sustainable lifestyle and benefit future generations.

SET GOALS

When you’re suddenly awash in cash, it may be only natural to immediately think of big-ticket purchases like new cars and exotic vacations.
Not so fast, Buchanan says: “It takes time to adjust to having wealth. A good place to start is with setting goals, both short-term and long-term. Think about what you want to accomplish with your wealth. It’s a paradigm shift, and to navigate through it successfully, you need to understand if you have enough to achieve your goals, and then if there is more left after that.”
Perhaps the best way to accomplish this is to create a plan that incorporates all aspects of your financial life. Using a Goals Driven Wealth Management approach, goals can be broken down into four major categories:
  1. Lifestyle: Do you have enough to live at a comfortable level?
  2. Dreams: What do you envision for your future?
  3. Family: How will you provide for your family?
  4. Legacy: Will you make a philanthropic impact?

A ROADMAP FOR WEALTH PLANNING

Your goals are unique, so the path you take to achieve them should be, too. With a Goals Driven Wealth Management approach, you can develop a dynamic wealth management plan focused on four key life-stage objectives: lifestyle, dreams, family and legacy. This approach provides specific considerations and strategies related to your goals at each stage of life. Once you identify your goals around each of these areas, it becomes much easier to associate dollars needed to fund those goals.
“When you suddenly have a large pot of money, you need well-defined strategies tied to specific objectives because otherwise there’s nothing to stop you from raiding the pot,” Buchanan says. That takes time and usually requires help.

10 COMMON FINANCIAL MISTAKES

Experiencing a sudden wealth windfall can present as many opportunities as challenges. If you’re the recipient of sudden wealth, keep in mind these 10 common financial mistakes:
  1. Not having a plan until crisis happens
  2. Not having – or monitoring – a good credit history
  3. Not having a sufficient cash reserve
  4. Letting someone else take care of your finances without review or awareness
  5. Maintaining inadequate health, life, disability, property and casualty insurance
  6. Living beyond your means
  7. Chasing the “hottest” investments
  8. Not properly designating beneficiaries on retirement plans and life insurance policies
  9. Not updating estate documents as life events occur
  10. Not reviewing your income taxes annually

HIRE AN ADVISOR

There are two distinct advantages to hiring a financial advisor, Buchanan says. First, an advisor can help educate you about exactly what you can – and can’t – expect to accomplish with your newfound wealth. Sudden-wealth recipients may not know how to estimate financial capacity, and an advisor who is familiar with managing large sums of money can help you develop a long-term plan based on long-term goals.
“Your advisor can tell you whether you can afford to put your kids through Harvard. Your advisor also can tell you how much you can spend every year without potentially running through your money,” Buchanan says. “It’s important to quantify those things before you start spending.”
Second, an advisor can act as a buffer between you and the many people who may ask for a piece of the pie. “You can use your advisor to be the bad guy,” Buchanan says. “You can tell your friends and family, ‘I’d love to help you out, but I’ve structured my financial plan in such a way that I have to demonstrate to my advisor that your request is of value.'"

MAKE ONE SPLURGE PURCHASE

In a perfect world, sudden-wealth recipients would stash their newfound wealth in a portfolio and refrain from spending it until they are prepared to do so wisely. Practically, however, it’s hard to sit on all that money, particularly for people who aren’t accustomed to having extra spending money. Spend some money, Buchanan says, but make it a singular, defined splurge – and then resume spending according to a disciplined plan.
“Splurge if you need to. Everybody’s got to get that itch to spend out of his or her system,” he says. “If you really want that sports car, you could consider getting one. Just know that you shouldn’t keep getting a new one every year for the rest of your life.”

APPLY SELF-DEFENSE

You know yourself. If you know that you won’t be able to resist frivolously spending the money in your account, don’t give yourself unrestricted access to so much money. The two worlds, Ben Tibbett of the University of British Columbia and David Tsang of the University of Maryland in the United States, developed the world's first mathematical model of the time machine.
The results of the new invention were published in the journal IOPscience, where the time machine, which they modeled, is supposed to be able to navigate past and future according to experts, who describe the machine as capable and capable.
The scientists used Einstein's theory of relativity to create a theoretical mathematical model of the time machine called TARDIS, which was named after the name of the time machine and the space ship in the British series Doctor Who.
According to scientists, people need to take the four dimensions of the universe to be understood and not treated as a three-dimensional space, so that time represents the fourth dimension, a mechanism that allows researchers to adopt the temporal dimension and apply it in all directions that can be connected in space and time in the curvature of the universe.
