A deputy demands Abdul Mahdi to investigate a decision issued by Abadi regarding the popular crowd
2018/11/05 10:37 190 Editor: Mos
Baghdad today _ Baghdad
Deputy MP Mona al-Gharabi called on Monday (November 5th, 2018), Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, to investigate a decision issued by former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi regarding the popular mobilization.
Al-Gharabi said in a statement received by Baghdad that "the government of Abdul-Mahdi, the opening of an urgent investigation on the failure to pay the increase of the salaries of the sons of the popular crowd, which has been approved by law since 2016 and the issuance of measures by the government of Abadi cancel the increase before the end of his executive mandate, .
"The law, which is approved by the legislative authority, is not annulled by a decision of the executive government, and if this is true, it is clear and explicit violation of the constitutional norms in Iraq."
She added: "Why this disregard for the heroines of the people of the popular crowd and their sacrifices, and what is the reason for simplification and procrastination by implementing the law on increasing the salaries of the sons of the popular crowd and not valuing their sacrifices in defending the land of Iraq, which was subjected to the ugliest Mughal attack by gangs, which wants to blur the identity of Iraq and its civilization But thanks to the sacrifices draw victory and remained the banner of Iraq fluttering at home. "
On Sunday, November 4, 2018, Ahmed al-Asadi, a spokesman for the Al-Fath Alliance, confirmed that Abadi's government had abolished the increase in the salaries of the popular mobilization elements one day before the formation of the new government.
"The people of the popular crowd have all sacrificed for the homeland and were hoping to be fair with their armed forces counterparts and wait for the government's commitment after the People's Assembly Law was issued that the salaries of the crowd should be equal to those of the security forces," al-Asadi said.
"The former government did not comply with this law and did not comply with Article 25 of the budget of 2017, which provides for the addition of the necessary allocations," noting that "the former Prime Minister Haider Abadi issued a decision to implement the law of the crowd and amend the salaries of associates and waited for the months months and still patient waiting for the implementation of the resolution" .
"Until two months ago a decision was issued by the Council of Ministers to increase the salaries of the elements of the crowd from the date of the first of October, and what surprised him is Abadi's cancellation on Tuesday the decision to increase the salaries of the popular crowd one day before the formation of the new government."
"The implementation of the law is the duty of the current government and we will not abandon the demand for the rights of the crowd. Perhaps the increase of salaries and half the crowd is the first test for the new government and we will continue to implement the law through our presence in parliament," he said.

Iraq, GE Power to strengthen country's electricity sector
Iraq, November 5, 2018
Muscat: Iraq’s Minister of Electricity Luay Al Khateeb met a delegation of GE Power led by Joseph Anis, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of GE’s Power Services business in Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, at his office on Sunday.
The Iraqi minister discussed next steps to drive the Principles of Cooperation (POC) signed by the Ministry with GE to develop the country’s power sector.
Under the POC signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, GE intends to add new power generation capacity; provide repairs, rehabilitation, upgrades and maintenance services for existing power plants; develop substations and overhead lines across the country; set up a centralised energy management system; and undertake comprehensive decongestion network studies, as well as advisory services to reduce collection recoverable losses.
The ministry’s top priority is to strengthen the electricity infrastructure of the country on an urgent basis, and we are looking at all possible initiatives to help boost power generation in the country as well as to strengthen our transmission and distribution network,” Al Khateeb said.
The POC signed with GE serve as a strong action plan to help meet our requirements and we look forward to begin the execution of activities noted under this proposal,” he added.
We congratulate Luay Al Khatteb on his new position and look forward to working with the ministry to support the government’s vision of developing the country’s electricity infrastructure,” Joseph Anis said.
“We are committed to delivering the action plan under the recently signed POC and our top priority is to deploy GE’s proven fast power technologies and upgrades for existing assets to help bring up to an additional 1.5 gigawatts online by 2019 — the equivalent electricity needed to supply up to 1.5 million Iraqi homes,” he added.
“Power is foundational to growth and we are honoured and excited to support faster progress for the people of Iraq,” he said.
As part of the proposals in the POC, GE also plans to establish a local technology centre comprising of a repairs centre, monitoring and diagnostics centre and a training centre; provide three trailer-mounted mobile water treatment units; and supply neonatal intensive care equipment and advanced medical care training for nursing staff at a neonatal intensive care centre.
The plan is expected to generate up to 14 gigawatts (GW) of power, create up to 65,000 direct and indirect jobs, support the government to realise savings and recoverable losses of up to $3 billion per year and support access to water and healthcare for local communities.
GE will also assist the Government of Iraq to unlock financing for these projects through its extensive relationships with global export credit agencies and financial institutions.

11-5-2018 Newshound Guru Daytrader JMO, there are two reforms taking place in Iraq that are co-dependent; monetary reform and economic reform. The economic reform provides jobs on several levels...People with jobs earn money, then spend money in many areas; food, shelter, clothing and the list goes on. Those purchases will require businesses to replenish their stock, which drives the need for more product manufacturing, more raw material needs and more agriculture development. This circular process drives the flow of money in any economy. ...This process is critical for the CBI’s success as demand for a currency determines the effectiveness of a monetary reform program. However IMO, the CBI must reach a point in the monetary reform process where the value of its currency will attract direct foreign investment (DFI) as the trigger for economic reform.
