The World Bank issued its report on Iraq and its outlook from the previous years.
The report showed the following results:
1.In the absence of structural reforms and accelerated reconstruction, Iraq's recovery may be short-lived, and growth is expected to continue its positive path and peak at 5.1 per cent in 2020.However, growth is expected to slow to 2.7 per cent in 2021. 2. Higher spending with lower oil prices will lead to an expected fiscal deficit of 3.3 per cent of GDP in 2020 and will remain in a similar range in 2021. The persistent fiscal deficit is expected to raise public debt to more than 48 per cent of GDP. GDP by 2021. 3. US calls for Lifting of Restrictions on Iraqi Press
4th November 2019
The United States welcomes any serious efforts made by the Government of Iraq to address the ongoing problems in Iraqi society. The Government of Iraq should listen to the legitimate demands made by the Iraqi people who have taken to the streets to have their voices heard. The United States is closely monitoring the situation and from the beginning we have called on all sides to reject violence. The Government of Iraq’s investigation into the violence in early October lacked sufficient credibility and the Iraqi people deserve genuine accountability and justice. As the efforts announced by President Salih begin, the recently imposed severe restrictions on freedom of the press and of expression must be relaxed. Press freedom is inherent to democratic reform. The U.S. government continues to support Iraqi institutions, the Iraqi people, and Iraq’s security, stability, and sovereignty. Korean conference in Jordan on the reconstruction of Iraq

Iraq .. Calls for a general strike
Published: Monday - 2019-11-04- 12:00
BAGHDAD - AFP
Several schools and government institutions continued to close their doors in Baghdad and a number of southern cities yesterday, the first day of the week in Iraq, which is witnessing protests entered its second month to demand «overthrow the regime».
Amid calls by activists for civil disobedience, participation increased to include unions, including teachers, who declared a general strike that paralyzed most public schools in the capital and the south.
In Baghdad, demonstrators cut off main roads in different districts, including Sadr City, a predominantly Shiite city, with cars to block traffic on the first day of the week in the country. The police, which were content with surveillance, did not intervene.
Other demonstrators, including school and university students, took part in the teachers' union strike announced last week.
The unions of engineers, lawyers and doctors also announced a general strike in support of the protests.
In Kut, the largest city of Wasit province south of Baghdad, said protester Tahseen Nasser (25 years), speaking from the demonstration square in the city center:
"We only deny government employees access to their work and allow humanitarian workers," said the protester, who works in a car repair shop.
In an effort to tackle the crisis, officials, including Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and President Barham Saleh, have pledged reforms including job creation and early elections, but this has not discouraged demonstrators from continuing protests.
"We have decided to declare civil disobedience and to be present in squares, streets and bridges, because our patience has been carried out by the government's promises and lies with so-called reforms," said protester Mohammed Ali al-Asadi, a 40-year-old government employee.
Nassiriya witnessed a civil disobedience yesterday as demonstrators closed the four bridges of the city, which led to the suspension of work in most government institutions and schools.
"We reject them (promises) in full and we want to achieve our main objective of demonstrations in which thousands of young people were killed and wounded, which is to change the system and dissolve all authorities and form a government of national rescue," he said.
In the meantime, other cities in the south of the country witnessed similar strikes, including Diwaniya (south of Baghdad), where demonstrators hung a large banner on the building of the provincial council reading "closed by the people."
Many employees declined to go to work in the city of Hilla, Babil province south of Baghdad, amid the closure of most government departments, according to an AFP correspondent.
In Basra, the country's richest oil province and the country's only seaport, government schools have been closed for the first time since protests erupted early last month.
Protesters also continued to block the main road leading to the port of Umm Qasr, one of the country's main seaports for importing food, medical and other items.
A source at the port said: "About 12 ships withdrew after waiting to unload their cargo at the port, to another place on Saturday."
These sit-ins suggest that the protests are entering a new phase, especially since they are already the largest popular movement in Iraq in decades.
Al-Shabaab is the main element of the 24-hour protests in Tahrir Square, which stretched to the Senk Bridge parallel to the Republic Bridge, one of the main outlets to the Green Zone - the seat of the Iraqi government, parliament and foreign embassies, including the US.
Amnesty International this week criticized Iraqi forces for using two types of tear gas that penetrated the skulls and breasts of protesters.
At the same level, the Iraqi Commission for Human Rights expressed concern about the fate of «kidnapped», including demonstrators, journalists and medical personnel.
The organization called in a statement yesterday, the government and its security forces to investigate the fate of civil activist Saba Mahdawi, who was "kidnapped" on Saturday evening, without accusing anyone.

Statement to the Iraqi people one month after their victorious demonstrations
In the name of of Allah the Merciful
(Lord make this a safe country and provide his family from the fruits) Believe God Almighty
O our people,
Peace, mercy and blessings of God
It has been a month since popular demonstrations broke out in the provinces of Iraq, especially Baghdad and the south. The people expressed their opinion clearly in their political and electoral system and in the performance of the government and the required reforms, whether political, human rights or service. The demonstrations were accompanied by joyful and joyful images of the sophistication and comfort of the Iraqis. The demonstrations turned into popular festivals in which the security forces and the demonstrators joined in a wonderful unity and cooperation that preserved the popularity and peaceful nature of the demonstrations.
The first is the continuation of the casualties on both sides, albeit in fewer numbers than the first ten days, but every drop of blood is expensive and painful and must be stopped.
The second is the continued exposure of numbers of outlaws to the security forces seeking to protect the demonstrators and public and private interests in the country. These groups have nothing to do with the demonstrations but cover them up and use them as human shields to carry out banditry, arson, looting and clashes with security forces using Molotov cocktails, catapults and even grenades, firearms, knives and others. We commissioned an investigative committee headed by the Minister of Health and governmental and non-governmental bodies to investigate the types of equipment used by the security forces when defending their positions, especially tear bombs. The instructions remain strict not to use live bullets or any lethal weapons, and that the security forces do not carry out any acts of attack or offensive, but stand the defense against attacks by outlaws, whether to break into the barriers of security forces in the bridges of the Republic and Senk and others, or in the attack on the headquarters and interests Government and civil society in Baghdad and the provinces.
The security forces have invited many demonstrators, activists and organizations to come to the ranks of the security repulsion to see the size of the attacks and methods and violence by the outlaws.
The demonstrations achieved many of their purposes and prompted the three authorities to review their positions. There was widespread political mobility, and numerous resolutions were passed to meet many of the demands made by the demonstrators. Demonstrations have received great popular, civic and trade union support, and the political system has been rocked to be one of the most important events that demonstrate that freedoms are responsibilities. It is the basic tool for the people to evaluate their rulers, express their opinion and realize their just demands. Therefore, the supreme religious authority defended peaceful demonstrations, so we must continue to protect and support peaceful demonstrations and distinguish between them and the outlaws. I met with a large number of demonstrators and thanked them for their pressure and the importance of renouncing violence for the success of the reformist demands and the continued peaceful popular pressure on the government and political forces to be able to succeed against the system of quotas and special privileges and corruption and to overcome the disruption approach that delays the achievement you demand.
Dear people .. It has been a month in which interests, schools, universities and a major part of public life have been disrupted. It is time for life to return to normal. To open all markets, interests, laboratories, schools and universities. Demonstrations and other legal practices of expression without affecting public and private life and interests are up to you. Your presence in the fields and your expression of opinion support us in presenting and implementing reforms, which is one of the most important factors of reform and pressure, if it took place peacefully and legally.
The most important thing here is to isolate the saboteurs from your peaceful movement. We postponed the Baghdad International Fair for a period of time because of the situation .. and delayed the completion of the submission of the 2020 budget. Not to mention the internal interests that have been stalled by the events and which have been subjected to significant losses, which requires a rapid return to normal functioning. The threat of oil interests and the blocking of some roads to Iraq's ports cause huge losses exceeding billions, and delay the arrival of goods, and this and others raise the prices paid by all citizens and the poor in particular and disrupt the provision of jobs and the growth of the economy and put patients at risk because of the closure of medical clinics and obstruct the movement of ambulances, and lose Because of them students important study days with the need to complete the curriculum and prepare for examinations, especially the ministerial ones, and delays the completion of citizens' transactions by disrupting the work of service departments, and cut off the livelihoods of people, especially shop owners and workers wage daily, and weaken the Endeavors to achieve decent living and social justice for this decent people.
We reduced the curfew hours. What is most important for the government is the return of normal life, while ensuring the protection of the rights of citizens, including the right to peaceful demonstrations in the designated places and the prevention of arson and assault whatever.
Long live Iraq and its people.
Peace, mercy and blessings of God

Today's newspapers are concerned with protests in Lebanon and Iraq and calls for general strikes in both countries. Newspapers referred to the speech of Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi and some opinion writers accused him of lying after calling for an end to the protests and warning him of the presence of teachers among the demonstrators causing violence. In the press, Algerian police and gendarmes also stormed the Oran Judicial Council. Newspapers point to the escalating crisis between judges and the Algerian Ministry of Justice.
Protests calling for change continue in Iraq, Lebanon and other countries. Newspapers follow developments in these countries. The Iraqi newspaper Al-Zaman highlighted the open strike in Iraq and wrote on its front page that several schools and government institutions continued to close their doors in Baghdad and a number of southern cities. Al-Zaman also referred to protests and sit-ins that swept across several Iraqi provinces and cities and said the protests had entered a new phase and had already become the biggest popular movement in Iraq in decades.
Beginning of the strike confused the authority wrote Al-Mada newspaper, saying that the strike appeared clearly in schools, where most of the students in Baghdad and a number of provinces returned to their homes after the suspension. The newspaper also highlighted the situation on the ground in Baghdad and other cities and reports of the abduction of an activist and a paramedic, Saba al-Mahdawi, who disappeared on Saturday night as she was returning to her home. Activists have launched a campaign of calls for officials to release her, reveal the fate of all activists and take action to protect protesters, the newspaper said.
In the face of these conditions prevailing in Iraq, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi called for the need to restore life to normal and warned of the economic losses incurred by the country and the muddles among the demonstrators intertwined with the security forces and cause deaths and injuries. According to him. In Al-Mada newspaper, an article compares the prime minister's speech yesterday to other speeches that contradict this speech. The author of the article, Ali Hussein, believes that the Iraqi prime minister is trying to mix the papers in a way that suits his desires and not what suits the people who gave nearly three hundred martyrs, thousands of wounded, hundreds of detainees and dozens of absentees only a month ago. Adel Abdul-Mahdi continues to write speeches without color, taste and smell, trying to say that there is a conspiracy against him, and the author considers that the best response to the Iraqi Prime Minister is the insistence of the youth of the protests to implement their demands for comprehensive change.
The Iraqi prime minister also promised to reform the political system and hold early elections and other promises. In the newspaper Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, a painting of Imad Hajjaj puts Adel Abdul-Mahdi in the form of Pinocchio in reference to his lie and the demonstrators are not convinced of his speech.
Al-Sharq Al-Awsat also features a drawing of Amjad Al-Rasmi, depicting the government's attempt to make its voice heard against the rising voices calling for change. The graphic reflects the dialogue of the deaf in Iraq.
Voices are also rising in Lebanon, shaken by protests demanding change. The Daily Star of Lebanon wrote on the cover that tens of thousands had gathered yesterday in a unit, while protesters called for a general strike and road blocking this morning. Protests calling for the overthrow of the government, early elections and an end to corruption and sectarianism that have ruled the country for decades continue, the paper said. Consultations to appoint a new prime minister are expected to begin this week.
In the Lebanese newspaper Al-Gomhuria, we read that, pending the invitation of President Michel Aoun to these consultations, the concerned circles are studying the nature of the new government and its specifications as president and members, on the basis that what was government before the popular movement can no longer be repeated after it, with the recognition of all that This movement in the country shook the pillars of power and the political class as a whole, and imposed a new government equation to address the status of the country.
