Iraqi Official Warns of IS Plot to Release Prisoners in Iraq and Syria

BasNews 20/11/2019 - 00:38 Published in Iraq
Director of Iraqi Military Intelligence Major General Saad al-Alaq has warned of a plot by the Islamic State (IS) leaders to release the group's prisoners held in Iraq and Syria.
Speaking to CNN, Alaq pointed out that a number of IS senior leaders known as "Amir" managed to flee from Syria's Baghuz to Turkey and that they are currently in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, attempting to form new cells in Turkey through their access to large amounts of money.
"The elements now in Turkey play a key role in the recruitment of fighters and terrorists," he said.
Alaq additionally said that the IS leaders are attempting to raid the prisons in Syria where the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters guard over 10,000 IS prisoners.
(Independent) .. The Political Bureau of the Iraqi Communist Party that "time is running out, there is no way but to respond immediately to the will of the people."
The party said in a statement issued on Tuesday and received (independent) a copy of it "came out a meeting of political blocs, which met last night in Baghdad, a statement can not be considered only another manifestation of procrastination and procrastination and bet on the factor of time and indifference to the blood of the martyrs, or an attempt to remarket the same failed approach Managing the affairs of the country, for which the powerful ruling forces of all configurations bear responsibility. ”
The statement blamed the political blocs "responsibility for the misreadings of the events and their developments, and the resulting state of intractability and political and social blockage, and continued bloodshed and the fall of an increasing number of martyrs and wounded."
It is not unusual for the concerned authorities to evade political, moral and criminal responsibility for this. The blood of the martyrs cannot be forgotten by the age of time, and the martyrs themselves have not redeemed the homeland except to become a beacon on another bright road, far from the losers and corrupt and their abhorrent quotas. And all those who have brought our country to the state of deplorable condition. "
He pointed out that “everyone must be well aware of the new realities brought about by the intifada, where it can no longer be patched up by partially premature. Any delay in realizing this fact exposes the country to catastrophic risks.
"Any betting on the time factor, on the limited numbers of opponents, and on the repressive security solution, is a futile prolongation of the crisis," the statement said.
He stressed that "the opponents, as they repeatedly declare in their statements and bulletins, will not return to their homes before achieving their full goals," noting that "the resignation or dismissal of the government is the point of initiation."

The decisions «media» for the meeting of political blocs raised the astonishment of the followers of the Iraqi affairs, the fact that these blocks and its decisions in a valley, and the people and demands in another valley.
Documenting violations
The parliamentary Human Rights Committee said that the decisions of the House of Representatives and the political blocs are not in line with the demands of the demonstrators, and can not contribute to quelling the popular anger, pointing out that it 'records all violations against the demonstrators, and will be held accountable for all those involved, whatever their positions or military ranks.'
For his part, explained the victory coalition, headed by Haider al-Abadi, that the signing of the document of political blocs, in the home of Ammar al-Hakim, came on conditional on the formation of a new government and early elections.

Corruption Partners Meeting
MP Hoshyar Abdullah, commented on the meeting of political leaders, pointing out that he did not provide any reforms to meet the demands of the street, and that «political forces that met Monday night in the house of Ammar al-Hakim did not and will not provide any solutions or real reforms to meet the demands of the street, which rose up against it more One month and a half in Baghdad and the southern provinces ».
He pointed out that «according to their agreement reached there is no solution for the government and parliament, and there is no date for early elections, and in the final outcome of their meeting is useless and did not bring anything new». “Most of the communities are key players in the post-2003 political process,” Abdullah said.
The street is now rising against them. Is it reasonable that they are the ones who are providing solutions?! And will they become the opponent and the referee ?, and can they already provide a successful model other than the previous failed model, and if they can, why they have not so far. ''
Abdullah expressed hope from the rising street that he would not listen to all these tried forces, which did not and will not want to reform the country, adding that "these parties are certain that they will have no place in the management of the country if there are real reforms."

Intelligence leaks reveal "wide influence" of Iran in Iraq

Iraqi demonstrators defy the security forces and gather at the highest barricades they have set up on the Free Bridge in Baghdad. Father
BAGHDAD - AFP

History: 20
Hundreds of leaked Iranian intelligence reports revealed the depth of Tehran's influence in Iraq, where anti-government protests have been going on for weeks. The ruling class, for their anger against the Iranian interference, and demanded to "overthrow the regime."
In detail, the New York Times and The Intercept website revealed hundreds of Iranian intelligence reports leaked showing the depth of Tehran's influence in Iraq.
The documents provide a "detailed picture of how powerful Tehran has worked to establish itself in Iraqi affairs and the role of (Qasim) Soleimani."
Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, is Tehran's main man in Iraq. He has been visiting Baghdad during political turmoil.
Amidst the biggest and bloodiest protests in Iraq in decades, Soleimani has chaired meetings in Baghdad and Najaf in recent weeks to persuade political parties to close ranks around Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
In one Iranian leak, Abdul Mahdi is described as having a "special relationship" with Tehran, when he was Iraq's oil minister in 2014.
The prime minister's office said it had "no comment" on the report at the moment. The newspaper and the US website said they had verified nearly 700 pages of reports written in 2014 and 2015 by Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security and sent to The Intercept by someone who refused to reveal himself.
The anonymous source, who refused to meet the journalist in person, said he wanted to "see the world what Iran is doing in his country Iraq."
The documents also stated that former prime ministers Haider al-Abadi, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, and former speaker of parliament Salim al-Jubouri were politicians with close ties to Iran.
According to The New York Times, Tehran managed to reap more gains and influence after the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq in 2011, which it said left Iraqi informants to the CIA "unemployed and destitute."
They then sought refuge in Iran and provided information about the CIA's operations in Iraq in return for money, the report said.
In one example, an Iraqi military intelligence officer traveled from Baghdad to the city of Karbala to meet with an Iranian intelligence official.
During the three-hour meeting, the Iraqi official said that his head, Lieutenant General Hatem al-Maksousi, told him to convey a message to Iran that "all the intelligence of the Iraqi army, considered it under your command."
Maksousi offered to provide Iran with information about a secret system set up by the United States to eavesdrop on Iraqi phones, run by the Prime Minister's Office and military intelligence, according to the same report.
This allowed Iran to expand its influence through its close ties with a new generation of politicians who became leaders of Iraq, and helped it to form the Popular Mobilization Forces, which include pro-Shiite factions.
This has also made it a major trading partner for Iraq, which imports electricity and natural gas to support destroyed energy facilities, in a country that has become the second largest importer of Iranian products, including cars, carpets and foodstuffs.
Iran has used intelligence work to maintain its role in Iraq, according to the newspaper and the American website, to achieve the strategic objectives of «prevent the collapse of Iraq, and prevent the independence of (Kurdistan) northern».
The documents pointed out that the "biggest focus" was toward "preserving Iraq as an Iranian state, and emphasizing that the political factions loyal to Tehran remain in power."
This comes at a time, witnessed the cities of Hilla, Najaf, Nasiriyah, Diwaniyah and Kut south, yesterday, strikes and sit-ins anti-government, and closed government departments and schools.
Demonstrators yesterday in the oil-rich province of Basra, blocked roads leading to the oil fields in Shuaiba and Barjasiyah.
In Baghdad, sit-ins and demonstrations continued to expand from Tahrir Square to the al-Sunak and al-Ahrar bridges, despite tight security, according to AFP correspondents. Faced with the spread of the demonstrations, security forces put up concrete barriers around the building of the Central Bank of Iraq, in anticipation of any emergency, according to security sources.

Massari: Reform cannot be achieved while the same political map remains

Release date:: 2019/11/19 23:27  125 times read

The leader of the Salvation Front, Ahmed al-Masari, said that there can be no reform with the same political map.
"The meeting of national forces and the signing of a reform paper yesterday was only to send a message to the Marjaiya that they want to present something to the demonstrators, while talking about the election law and the laws that vote on it are rejected by the Iraqi street and do not mean," Massari said.
"The Iraqi street today has lost confidence in the existing political forces and restored confidence through an electoral process and it chooses its representative."
"All the political forces will form the commission according to their interests and it is not convincing to the Iraqi street," he said.
He called on the political forces to "give the Iraqi street a chance to decide its fate. The reformist paper ruled in the street before" God is enough for the evil of fighting, "but we believe this is a card of forces to buy time, not to put reforms, but to stabilize itself."
"The political forces are betting that the (45) days will weaken the demonstrations, but they do not know that we may go to an unforeseen earthquake. The citizen does not trust these forces, but wants independent figures who manage the state until the commission is formed and elections are held."
Al-Masari concluded by saying, "The situation of the Kurdistan region is different from the situation of Iraq, and the Kurds will not be able to convince the people of the southern, central and western provinces of what has gone through over the years; Parliament and the dismissal of the government, but we want it today and the transitional government can start all the measures. 11-20-2019   Intel Guru Frank26  ….the removal of the 3 zero notes is a first step then the replacement of equal value of these 3 zero notes is occurring IMO right now with a swap of 3 zero notes with new small category notes [with the CBI and banks not citizens yet].  All of this should have been competed by now.  The protesting delayed it a little bit…it is still ongoing…these 3 zero notes IMO are being collected and replaced with the same equal value of these small category notes…almost done all across Iraq.

11-19-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru RVAlready   I hope GOI gets the budget done ASAP. I do not think CBI is the holdup.

11-19-2019  Intel Guru Walkingstick (via Frank26)  …it matters not that all the banks in Iraq [Do not] have the smaller notes yet.  What matters is that the process has started and IMO close to finishing.  Then I would ask the question, how long should these small notes stay in the vaults of the Iraqi banks?  IMO, not too long.  Short term.

11-19-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat  ...there will be no RV or reinstatement of the Iraqi dinar unless they can somehow get the Iranian influence out of the government politics, clean up the corruption. So why all the hype and panic now about these demonstrations? The sky is not falling in on Iraq. What we are witnessing is exactly what needs to take place. The pressure for the demonstrators is causing all these fixes to happen at warp speed. This is all so good for us and our investment. It is happening and we all should be glad and jumping for joy this is now being addressed.

11-19-2019   Intel Guru Frank26   …you know Maliki?  His palatial palace they burned it down to the ground.  These sweet innocent beautiful Iraqi citizens don’t want to hurt anybody.  They don’t want to kill anybody.  And they’re not.  They just want revenge.  And that which was their’s was taken away from them then I think they have the right to destroy what was not given to them.  They burnt down Maliki’s house.  They brought marshmallows and graham crackers and chocolate and made smores.

11-19-2019   Intel Guru MarkZ   I still believe we are in a very good spot.  I have a number of people that flew into Reno yesterday for Appointments today...these are for currency exchanges...not currency swaps.   I have other folks there that I know in real life with appointments this afternoon through Thursday morning… [...word in Dinarland is that RV is expected by Thanksgiving. Does this mean the public exchange?]  Yes that means us…we are the last. Redemption Center people worked part time last weekend...and are at work all week…waiting.

11-19-2019   Intel Guru Delta   …now is the best time for them to basically pull the trigger IMO because remember this is what the demonstrators want…and we all know the government is working on the budget and they have in mind to send that budget before the end of the month.  If that is the case we should see the rates before that because as they’ve told us this budget is going to be different and it should have the rates in it.  This is definitely very interesting and I’m waiting to see the next 24 hours of what’s going to happen and what the Central Bank’s next move is going to be and that’s going to give us a window of what’s going on there…

11-19-2019   Intel Guru Frank26   …The banks are wound up so tight just one breath from the CBI is going to set off giving the citizens IMO the smaller notes because there has been a change to the American dollar in the auctions. If that is true then that means an exchange rate has occurred…It is the only way we could have done that is if they made a change to the exchange rate of their currency.
And I believe they are about to make an announcement but first we’ve got to get the pictures and we’ve got to get the descriptions…

11-19-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat
...We also just heard this morning 11/18/19 that parliament is going to vote on some needed legislation in regards to these demands.  Then out popped an article telling us that the 2020 budget will reach parliament in the next few days or so for the first vote. Oh - boy this could get interesting real fast. But the budget has an implementation date of Jan 1st 2020. Why? Because their fiscal year begins on Jan 1st... The first quarter of their fiscal year is the BEST time to reinstate the currency. ...looks like our early January 2020 date creeps up again. ...I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed this time this is finally the beginning of the end of this Iraqi dinar RV ride.   [post 2 of 2]

11-19-2019 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat ...Did the CBI just end the currency auctions? …Let this news play out and see if, in fact, the currency auctions do continue and are picked back up and the buy and sell rates change. Or will this finally be the end and the reinstatement is just around the corner? ...if they are exchanging very limited dinars for US dollars via the currency auctions, then how can the banks continue in business? Could this mean "reinstatement" time...finally to get out of this situation? We know this was on the very first list of demands from the demonstrators so let's see what happens. [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]
