China Soon to Become Germany’s Economic Rival
T he Chinese government has adopted a 'Made in China 2025' economic development strategy which is emerging as a huge risk to Germany's economic base, says economist Christian Rusche from the IW think tank in Cologne.With this program, China's economic development strategy for the manufacturing sector, the Chinese government has initiated something that could prove very dangerous for Germany's economy, Rusche said in an interview with DW.

The Chinese government has a draft regulation requiring that no less than 8% of cars sold in 2018 must be electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, and 12% by 2020. This mean China presents a global market threat to German car-makers, Rusche said.
Electromobility is not in itself central to the Made in China 2025 strategy, but Industry 4.0 technologies are highly relevant to car factories of the future, and the Chinese quota for EVs will force rapid development of the country's EV production capacity. German car-makers should bear this in mind as they consider their e-mobility investment strategies.
Overcapacity in Production
The top-down authoritarian structure of economic policy in China, and the massive use of subsidies for key industries, means that China is likely to develop a major overcapacity in production of industrial robots. This will tend to result in building too many factories, and that in turn means price-dumping on global markets will likely result. This may well affect global electric vehicle markets, among others.
It seems like China is taking aim squarely at the most important industrial sectors underpinning Germany's economic success. Germany has already lost its photovoltaic panel manufacturing sector to cheap Chinese mass produced panels. The question is, will car-making and machinery-building sectors go the same way?
That is indeed a serious risk. But it's not that the Chinese have decided they want to eliminate Germany as a competitor. It's more a matter of empowering China.
One Step Ahead
"We can't stop China doing what it's going to do. Among the things the German government or western governments in general could do in response would be impose punitive tariffs against dumping, but this always involves a risk of retaliation. Closing off European markets to Chinese goods is unlikely to work well, because sheltering European companies from Chinese price pressure would only improve the latter's price advantages on global markets in the medium term."
The main strategy German industry has applied so far, vis-a-vis Chinese competition, is to stay a step ahead in terms of technology and quality. It should continue to try to do that, but it may get more difficult in the future.
Another comparative advantage Germany could try to maintain is superior infrastructure. The German government should invest heavily in updating and improving Germany's infrastructure, to make made-in-Germany production lines more attractive.
A third strategic element is for German makers of machines and production systems to offer premium-quality comprehensive packages comprising not only automated machines, but also remote operation and servicing of those machines.

POUND has started to climb back against the euro after falling following the
release of the UK jobs data. The pound to euro exchange rate has recovered to
€1.098 after falling yesterday. It could then meet the same levels from the
beginning of the week if it continues to go up. It reached highs of €1.100
earlier in the week with hopes that it could go back up. The pound then
plummeted following the release of the UK jobs data that showed mixed news.

In my last newsletter I mentioned that the currency reserves that are based in US dollars will continue to deplete from its current balance of $45 bln and will rise to $40 bln next year. Reason being is that there are criminal groups in Iraq that are laundering money via use of false documents for the importing of goods. The criminal groups have raised the prices of goods and materials as a means to steal money from the public. I'm very perplexed as to what the Iraq Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi is going to do in regards to this profuse money laundering done by these criminal groups. The recent signing of the memorandum of understanding by the CBI will not travel far, I'll put a bet in that we’ll be revisiting this topic in another 12 months.

Abadi positioned Iraq to not having to "bend the knee"... to Erbil because he is developing alternative oil export routes. The Kurds are completely responsible to come to Baghdad, sign agreements, and get the HCL law passed and settle the contested Article 140 areas. finding out through various friends that are there in the country of
Iraq, these rates have been populating for days on the back screens of
Forex. They have been traded up. All the rates
including the ZIM were halted couple of days ago because they went as
high as they wanted them to be. I don’t know what the dinar rate is
right now. People who have the Qi cards, their rate is
solid. What is not solid is the word activation. It is
flashing. When that solidifies, boom we have an active rate people
can use those Qi cards. The new ones are global master cards with two
chips in them which are used as both as a credit and debit cards. All the old Qi

The members of the Civil Society for Reform discussed a number of important issues related to the internal affairs of the Iraqi National Assembly and the Iraqi National Arena.
"We are taking the first step in our long journey that will bring us together to serve our people, our society, and before that our country and the homeland of Iraq," said Salim al-Jubouri, Secretary-General of the Civil Society for Reform. Has a common vision and is based on a clear idea, to work in a collective, equal and institutional manner based on internal rules. "
He also pointed out that "we are starting from the principle and the sense of responsibility towards a people living in the worst conditions under the remnants of terrorism such as migration, migration, poverty and unemployment, the spread of corruption and the absence of services and the marginalization of clear competencies," noting that "all these circumstances can make the task is very serious and sensitivity and difficulty demanding higher Dignity, sacrifice, dedication and credibility along with professionalism and accuracy. Transport Minister Kazem Fangan al-Hamami announced on Friday that Iraq will compete for the post of vice president of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) with three other countries - the United Kingdom, Lithuania and Bangladesh.
A statement from his press office received the agency of all Iraq [where] a copy of the receipt of the ministry an email in which the organization announced the entry of the Permanent Representative of Iraq to the World Meteorological Organization and the Director General of the General Authority for Aeronautical and Seismic Monitoring Agency Thaer Hussein Ghrawi who nominated to compete for this site In June of 2017.
Al-Hamami pointed out that Iraq will enter into competition for the first time in its history since the founding of the World Organization nearly 70 years ago and in accordance with the provisions of Article (82) of the General Regulations, which provides for voting in all elections by secret ballot.
It should be noted that this comes within the efforts of the Ministry to return Iraq to the international incubator and lift the embargo on Iraq's funds in the World Meteorological Organization.

The second brigade of the Popular Rally, on Friday, was on the line of contact to spend Talaafar battle for liberation, while the crowd received large numbers of displaced people.
"Major preparations have begun from the popular crowd, the federal police, the army and the counterterrorism apparatus," a statement from the crowd told the agency. "The forces of the second brigade are now on the line of contact to spend Talafar west of Mosul to fight the liberation battle."
"The crowd has developed a lot in all military areas, as well as the confusion of the enemy and the tension of its leaders will facilitate the processes of restoring the judiciary," the statement said. .
"The popular crowd has received large numbers of displaced persons and opened safe roads for them during the past period. We have set up a mechanism to receive them in order to get the largest number of displaced people out. Some of them started settling in villages far from the battlefield," he said.

Sugar increases the degree of depression

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Consuming a large amount of sugar in food may increase the degree of depression and exacerbate psychological problems, according to a new study. These findings contradict the common idea that eating sweets and sugary beverages increases morale.
According to the study conducted at the University of College in London exacerbates the excessive eating of sugar from the problem of depression and not vice versa and was thought that depression increases the desire to eat sugar.
The results of the study were published in the journal Scientific Reports, and were based on a review of the results of six studies on diet and depression in Canada, France, the United States, New Zealand, Germany and South Korea, and found that a diet rich in sugars increases the risk of depression and exacerbates the condition.
