US Defense Secretary James Matisse arrived in Ankara on Wednesday for talks with Turkish officials expected to focus on Washington's arming of Kurdish units in the war against the terrorist group al-Qaeda.

According to Agence France-Presse, Matisse arrived in Goa on the day after a one-day visit to Iraq to assess progress in operations against the terrorist organization, urging coalition partners not to allow political issues to stop the momentum of operations against "Dahesh."

Matisse will hold talks in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Defense Minister Noureddine Ganikli.

In May, the Pentagon said it had begun handing over light weapons and mechanisms to the Kurdish People's Protection Units to support its role as part of Syria's democratic forces, which are battling a "preacher."

The weapons include AK-47s (AK-47s) and machine guns with small caliber bullets.

Ankara, a US ally in NATO, is "angry" over Washington's arming of the Kurdish people's protection units in its fight against a "preacher."

The Syrian Democratic Forces are currently leading the attack on Raqqa with artillery and air support from the US-led coalition forces.
