The report pointed out that the delivery of Internet to more than 13 million families in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Iraq needs to integrate the broadband networks in the region, including the basic networks, land and sea.

The report notes that Jordan and Lebanon are pioneering examples of the use of fixed and mobile broadband services in the region, while Syria is experiencing challenges as networks are affected by existing conflicts.

He added that Syria and Iraq need to remove barriers to operators in the market and activate the markets of telecommunications and broadband Internet, and despite the existence of a broad infrastructure of regional networks and basic, but not exploited optimally because of war and instability, as well as the dominance of state-owned enterprises The report points Internet exchange and data centers are less developed in the region. In Iraq, the report called for the removal of restrictions on private operators to build, own and operate fiber-optic infrastructure, to allow companies to reach the end-user, and to introduce telecommunications legislation that promotes competition and private sector participation, International broadband services market.

The report also recommended that the Lebanese authorities develop a unified vision for the ICT sector, improve financial transparency of the sector, introduce competition through a common legal framework, study the structure of the broadband sector and grant licenses for the fifth generation.

The World Bank called on Jordan to prepare a draft study on the fifth generation networks and grant frequencies to operators, apply the next generation of public-private partnership, strengthen the regulatory framework and review fees and taxes to stimulate investment and ensure appropriate regulatory control.

Broadband infrastructure helps to boost economic growth. Increasing the penetration rate of broadband services by 10 percent leads to an additional 1.4 percent increase in GDP

6-27-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat    I was also told that this week the Mahdi government could try to replace Ali Mohsen Al-Allaq as the director of the CBI since his position is still seen as a proxy one going back to former PM Nori al-Maliki days. This also stems from the currency auction corruption and the failure to complete the currency reform project. We will wait and see what happens on these other proxy positions. They need to make his position permanent and announce it if he is going to stay.

6-27-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat    Once these three minister positions were filled, I contacted my CBI source.   I was told that there are some very important people now in Baghdad or coming this week and there is going to be a largely attended financial meeting with the CBI. Those attending include the former financial minster, US and UK Treasury Sec, Dr. Shabibi, IMF rep and a World Bank Rep. What do you think they will be discussing ...I was told they do plan to move ahead with the “project to delete the zeros” this year and sooner rather than later. This is all I could get out of my source.

6-27-2019  Newshound Guru Breitling    Question [Would Iraq joining the WTO have any impact on the revaluation?]  ...Maybe not the date it's going to revalue but the speed on which the dinar is going to gain value absolutely 100%...huge deal for them to be part of the WTO...If Iraq can join the WTO and western companies can go to Iraq and have no fear it's going to be phenomenal...

6-27-2019   Newshound Guru G-Lin   Article:  "The House of Representatives votes not to give confidence to the candidate Zahida Abdullah Mohammed, Minister of Education"

6-27-2019  Intel Guru MarkZ   We are getting a lot of news they jumped the gun in Brazil and Hong Kong and that there may be a street rate in Iraq of $3.62. ...My contractor at a power plant was quoted a bit higher rate last month... [How did they jump the gun? What does that mean?] they have jumped the gun with some exchanges...not all... We hope to know more by morning [Thursday]...We are on the edge of our seats...we could go tonight or we could go tomorrow [Thursday] i don’t think we will make past this week for the RV.

6-26-2019 Newshound Guru Adam Montana Even though Iraq isn't technically "present", it's not difficult to understand that anytime oil, money, gold or gifts leave Iraq - they are touched by one or more of those major players listed above. For Iraq to be successful in raising the value of their currency, they need to be able to operate their business, and the G20 Summit will have an effect on how the global money game is played for the next year. Once the Summit has concluded, Iraq may change their tactics slightly, but most importantly they will be free to make a decision and act accordingly. It's a big deal, and it's good. So although I don't expect an RV announcement to be made at the Summit, or directly because of the Summit, I do think it's reasonable to expect some actions after the summit.
