He blamed both Turkey and PKK for using Kurdistan territories for their military confrontations, however, he noted that the PKK fighters often attempt to use the villagers as human shields after they strike the Turkish outposts on the border.
Since the beginning of the Turkish-PKK clash in 1980s, a total of 115 villages in Kurdistan Region’s Sidakan area have been abandoned with 50 civilians killed, according to Chalabi.
He warned that the growing confrontations since mid-May this year could further destabilize the region for villagers who are sided with none of the actors.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Abdulmahdi met today with the Special Envoy of the Russian President to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and his accompanying delegation, including the Deputy Foreign Minister and a number of officials from the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs and the Russian Charge d'affaires in Baghdad. After Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halboussi, on Monday, in the presence of the Chairman of the Legal Committee MP Repoar Hadi and members of the Committee, the meeting of the parliamentary legal committee, which hosted the Electoral Commission for elections, on the draft law of the first amendment to the law of provincial elections and the district number 12 for the year 2018, Reach out to:
