Editing Date: 12/30/2019 11:58 • 75 times read
(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The head of the United Nations Mission in Iraq, Jenin Blackshart, said that the Iraqis are paying the most expensive price to achieve change in their country, "referring to the popular demonstrations that have been going on for more than 3 months.
"Over the past months, many Iraqis have paid the highest price in order to make their voices heard in calling for change in Iraq," Blackshart said in a statement.
"We hope that all girls and boys, women and men in Iraq will see that their courageous determination yields lasting progress."
The protests have invaded Iraq since October 1, and the protesters, most of whom are young, are calling for a change of the entire political system, because - in their opinion - they are corrupt and have left most Iraqis in poverty.
More than 450 people were killed in the protests, and thousands were wounded.
The former Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, resigned last month and remains in office to conduct business, despite continued protests.

An Iraqi parliamentarian reveals the main reason for the President's position on the resignation
He added that "all political forces agree to meet the demands of the Iraqi street, including choosing the personality of the Prime Minister that is acceptable to the street and everyone, and holding early elections."
He pointed out that "talking about the attempts of some forces to strike at each other in order to weaken their chances in the upcoming elections, is unrealistic, because the final discussion will be for the people in case the elections are held."
And the Iraqi parliament , during its session, last Tuesday, voted on the election law legislation, the most prominent of which stipulates the adoption of multiple constituencies within the province, and the granting of seats to the loudest winners, on the basis of individual nomination and not on the basis of lists.
On November 30, Adel Abdul-Mahdi submitted his resignation from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers , in response to the request of the Supreme Religious Authority in Iraq, Ali al-Sistani, in preparation for the holding of new elections to calm the situation in the country.
Abdul Mahdi stated, "I listened with great care to the sermon of the supreme religious authority today, and reminded it that" given the difficult circumstances the country is going through, and what appeared to be a clear deficit in the dealings of the concerned authorities with the developments of the two months. "
And Iraq has been witnessing protests since the beginning of last October, to demand the improvement of living conditions and the fight against corruption.
Sectarian parties are moving to isolate the Iraqi president
Posted: 30/12/2019
Baghdad: «The Gulf»
An Iraqi political source revealed, yesterday that there are movements within Parliament to remove Iraqi President Barham Saleh from his position and the inauguration of the Minister of Finance in the resigned government, Fouad Hussein, in his place, while a legal expert confirmed that the President of the Republic does not have the authority to refuse to assign the candidate to the major bloc.
The source said, “Political parties initiated a broad movement aimed at removing President Barham Saleh through parliament, after he was charged with violating the constitution, given that article 76 includes that the president’s role is to assign the candidate of the largest number in the parliament, and he has no right to reject this nomination.” ».
The source added, “On Sunday and Monday, they will witness a political movement in this matter between the various political forces, to discuss isolating Saleh, and finding a substitute for it politically agreed upon before the isolation, so that the scenario of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi is not repeated in terms of the constitutional vacuum.” Until «the current Minister of Finance in the resigned government, Fouad Hussein, who was formerly the director of the office of the former Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani, is suitable for the position, and he was running for it, but political consensus excluded him from the position, and granted him to Barham Saleh.»
A source in the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq told "Russia Today" channel, yesterday, Saturday, that "Saleh will return from Sulaimaniyah, where he is based, to Baghdad to end the file of assigning the Prime Minister and resume his work in the Presidency of the Republic." The source gave no further details.
Earlier, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nishirwan Barzani, said that it appears that the President of the Republic is under great pressure, in contrast to the constitutional mechanisms and foundations mandated by the Prime Minister. He stressed that "to choose a national and non-controversial candidate for prime minister that is acceptable to influential forces, we must take into account the legitimate demands of the demonstrators, and the conditions and interests of the country when choosing it."
On a related level, the legal expert, Hassan Al-Yasiri, affirmed that the President of the Republic does not have the authority to refuse to assign the candidate to the major bloc. Al-Yasiri said in a statement, "The constitutional commitment of the President of the Republic regarding the mandate in terms of the constitutional constitutional, and away from political and emotional positions, the President of the Republic does not have the authority to assign only from the nomination of the largest number of parliamentary bloc."
For his part, Bashir Haddad, deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, said on Friday evening that Saleh's speech to parliament to nominate a candidate to form the new government is a statement of position and not an official request for resignation. He added, "What the president mentioned in his letter is an explanation of the pressures that took place, and his willingness to submit the resignation because of the political stranglehold and failure to agree on a candidate for prime minister." He explained that the lack of agreement on a candidate for prime minister «is a real complex crisis in the political scene, and we call on everyone to prevail over logic, language of reason and wisdom to spare the country more tragedies and problems. Haddad stressed that "the candidate must obtain the consent and acceptance of the masses, on the basis of the political agreement, and as required by the supreme national interest of the country, especially as we are going through a pivotal stage and a political crisis."
On the other hand, the leader of the Asaib Movement attacked the people of truth, Qais Khazali, the Iraqi president, threatening him with the dismissal, against the backdrop of the latter's refusal to assign the building coalition candidate to form the new government. He said in a television interview on Friday evening, "The last step of the President of the Republic was not justified, and the arguments he gave were not logical, and the constitution obliges him to assign the candidate of the largest bloc in Parliament," considering what he did "cunning and deceit, making the president a political party that is not neutral."

12-30-2019 Intel Guru Delta it's a high possibility IMO that we might...see the rate [December] 31st on the Central Bank of Iraq website. We might not see it until the 2nd...we're definitely on track...
12-29-2019 Newshound Guru Adam Montana [So, I can't help but think if there was a 10 cent with a float, there would be a MASSIVE run on the buying of dinar...] massive run on the dinar - YES, which means a massive influx of cash to Iraq’s vaults, which makes them look better, which adds to the demand for dinar, which raises the price, which puts more money in their vaults, and on and on. It’s a snowball effect at that point. I don’t want to see a massive run on the Dinar before the RV. I DO want to see that immediately following the RV.
12-29-2019 Intel Gurus Frank26 & Delta ...we got the proof that the CBI did delete the zeros at the end of November...CBI website... remember the money supply was 50 trillion...it dropped all the way down to 5 trillion...[Guru] MilitiaMan found this...another proof of the positioning that they're about to do with this...this is real numbers...they did this on November 30th...
12-29-2019 Intel Guru footforward Let me be really clear. I don't believe there has been an "in country ...I'm suggesting somewhere on paper they have changed their money supply for when the RV happens. They are getting ready for this...If they have reduced the money supply, that is a huge change. That hasn't been done before...Not like this...So the only other thing that would account for a shift of 45 trillion in their money supply is if the value increased...I think they went from 50 trillion dinar notes to 5 trillion notes and fills...If they revalued and had that much currency, the dinar wouldn't be worth much...
12-29-2019 Intel Guru Frank26 ...on January 1st IMO a 2020 budget for the Iraqi government should come out. IMO it has a higher chance of coming out with a new rate for new small category notes they want to introduce so badly. They are in the position to do so in that budget. If not then based on how much longer or violent the protesting will be that might be the barometer that we need in order to determine when we're gonna see the new rate...this rioting is definitely influential in when they're going to release it...
