The Iraqi nationality law is a wide debate, a major rejection and a controversy that ignores the effects of the past

12:45 - 15/03/2019

Baghdad Mawazine News
The rejection of the amendment of the Iraqi Nationality Law has been accompanied by a big controversy over the position of the law, which some found to be a major demographic change. Others defended it, recalling its rejection of the differences of the past and the most prominent ones expelled from Iraq during Saddam's regime under the name of dependency.
The Parliament had ended last Monday the first reading of the draft law of the first amendment to the law of nationality submitted by the Security, Defense and Legal Committees without a decision, in view of the emergence of problems and obstacles in the practical application of the provisions of the Iraqi Nationality Law No. 26 of 2006.
After the parliament session on Monday, popular and parliamentary votes were adopted to include members of the House of Representatives, political parties and parliamentary committees, ending with public anger and warnings of the repercussions of these amendments.
Activists and observers on social networking sites considered the amendment to the law a violation of Iraq's sovereignty and a threat to its demography and destruction of society, amid calls for an end to these attempts, while others have defended it.
Iraqi media spokesman Fayrouz Hatem said, "Is there really anyone who does not know who he is?" Do you really know that the regime of Saddam, who was buried by an unjust decision of his dissolved council, No. 666 in 1980, revoked the nationality of half a million Iraqi Kurds and displaced them (Forced) to Iran ?? Why this booing and contempt for this (the affected segment) of the policies of the Chauvinist regime?
MP Mohammed Iqbal al-Sidli was one of the most prominent opponents of the amendments.
Iqbal said in a statement issued by his press office that the paragraphs included in the amendment of the law facilitated the granting of Iraqi citizenship away from the points made by the Iraqi legislator over the past years to maintain its position, likely to result in significant demographic changes due to grants, .
He pointed out that the law guarantees the granting of citizenship to a person born in Iraq, even if the parent is not Iraqi, with reference to granting broad powers to the Minister of the Interior to grant citizenship other than the controls approved by Iraqi customs, stressing that most of the large stable countries do not grant nationality to immigrants legally Only after years of statement of direction and the adequacy of information about it.
The head of the national parliamentary bloc Ammar Tohma, which sparked controversy, last Monday, on the law that "the draft amendment of the Nationality Law included gaps lead to a demographic change, and opens the space and the opportunity to grant unknown persons Iraqi nationality."
For his part, a member of the Committee on Security and Defense parliamentary Adnan al-Asadi that the proposal to grant citizenship to foreigners who spent one year in Iraq, "full of bombs"
"The draft amendment of the Iraqi Nationality Law came at the end of the previous parliamentary session and we will not be able to legislate it. Three days ago we read a first reading and created a noisy atmosphere among the Iraqi people," al-Asadi told a news conference in the House of Representatives.
The veteran politician Hassan al-Alawi accused the Iraqi authorities of trying to pass a law that would legalize visitors to the holy sites if they were only one year in the country, considering that this was similar to what Saddam Hussein did when granting citizenship to Palestinian Arabs in order to increase the number of Sunnis at the expense of Iraqi Shiites.
"Anyone who has prepared, supported and approved the Iraqi citizenship law is not an Iraqi who is an agent, a thief and a mercenary. He has agreed to grant citizenship to foreigners," Al-Alawi said in a videotape released Thursday. "In what countries does a foreigner stay for one year and get citizenship? "?
He added that the goal of the law is to naturalize visitors to the holy shrines who stay for one year in Iraq, saying that "with this law and within two years will fill Baghdad with 3 - 4 million foreigners and use the word" Khuda "instead of the word" Allah "," referring to the Iranians.
He called on the Iraqis to stand against the federal government in this law, saying: "They want to follow the example of Saddam Hussein and the sectarian reason of the sex of the Palestinians to increase the proportion of Sunnis to the Shiites in Iraq."
For its part, the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence of the Ministry of Interior, on Thursday, clarification on some legal provisions for the granting of Iraqi nationality, after it left a wide controversy and criticism of some. For its part, the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence of the Ministry of Interior, on Thursday, clarification on some legal provisions for the granting of Iraqi nationality, after it left a wide controversy and criticism of some of these paragraphs.
Where the Directorate confirmed that "an exception was added to the forcibly displaced during the previous regime, and they have transactions in the Directorate of Nationality was not completed because of their deportation and a large number of them was registered in the records of 1957.
She added that after 2003 issued a decision of the Council of Ministers to lift the signal of freezing their restrictions and obtained the identities of civil status and were unable to obtain the certificate of Iraqi citizenship, because of the lack of modern residence for ten years.
The Directorate continued that, for the purpose of redressing this limited group, this exception had been established and had a residence of not less than one year.

3-14-2019   Intel Guru Frank26   IMO ON THE 28TH OF DEC 2018 THEY LIFTED THE 3 ZERO'S ELECTRONICALLY ALLOWING WS'S [Guru Walkingstick's] FIRM MANY CONTRACTS AT 1 TO 1.  ...SO IF I WAS IRAN...I TOO WOULD ACCEPT A PAYMENT FROM IRAQ...NOW.
3-14-2019   Intel Guru ADMINBILL   I HAVE BEEN MONITORING [Guru] MARKZ'S INFORMATION. HE IS CREDITABLE...We are moving in the right direction. Stay the course. Be prepared to grab hold of the merry-go-round ring and claim your prize.

3-14-2019   Newshound Guru Kaperoni    ...an article that said they would not float the dinar...could be interpreted in two ways. 1. being they won't float (which makes no sense because they then would not have the tool they need to counter inflation as investment/investors come to Iraq, or    2. they are not going to float at this time (which may be what they really meant at the time of the article).  And may be true...but that was months ago before the dinar was stable and in compliance...

3-14-2019   Intel Guru MarkZ   [Who are your contacts in dinar land?]  I’ve been in this since the very beginning.   I have contacts that are Contractors in Iraq, military people, retired military people... So many banking contacts, regional VP’s in banking,  and contacts who actually help set up some of the redemption centers for a major bank for the dinar and dong
3-14-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat    I can say that I have heard many rumors about the readiness for the launching of the new smaller category notes, however you would think that, if these rumors where true, we would see multiple articles on this topic in the general Iraqi news media prior to the event. We have NOT yet seen this. But also remember this does not mean this even may not be on the radar for the very near future either as we also know these smaller category notes may come in close proximity to the announcement of a reinstatement.

3-13-2019 Intel Guru MarkZ [With Iraq Parliament saying the Prime Minister can choose the remaining cabinet members within 3 weeks, does this mean the RV can’t go until then?] they can absolutely move forward with the RV before they finish their government. ...It is not an “if” but a “when” for this to happen. This is such a complex thing they are doing but I believe we are in the “end days” of seeing this reset happen.

Suspicions surround the death of the head of the Integrity Commission after promising to detect corruption files (photos and video)

BAGHDAD, March 15 (Reuters) - The death of the head of the Iraqi Integrity Commission on Thursday raised doubts about his targeting of his party after he vowed to reveal corruption files.
On Friday, the Integrity Commission announced the death of its head, Ezzat Tawfiq, in a traffic accident in Dohuk province yesterday.

The body said in a statement: "Its president, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jaafar, died after a traffic accident in Dohuk."

But the victory coalition led by former Prime Minister Haider Abadi questioned Tawfiq's exposure to an accident and called for a professional security investigation.

The leader of the coalition Ali al-Sunaid said during a press statement: "The Iraqi government and its security services to open an extensive security investigation and professional, on the traffic accident, which was exposed by the head of the Integrity Commission in Dahuk and led to his death."

He added: "It is not unlikely that the incident was planned to kill the head of the Integrity Commission, to prevent him from revealing files of corruption, and is likely to be involved in the corruption of the incident."

Tawfiq said recently that "the coming days will see the opening of files of interest to all Iraqis, including the file of oil smuggling and seizure of real estate and smuggling through border crossings and other dangerous files."

Tawfiq's death coincides with a broad parliamentary movement to combat corruption in the Iraqi state, while Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi vowed to pursue the corrupt and corrupt public funds.

Warnings of using smart phones while eating

BAGHDAD, March 10 (Reuters) - World press reports have issued a serious warning against the use of smartphones at the dining table during daily main meals.

"The use of smart phones while eating daily meals destroys the health of its users," the specialized Earth.com website said.

According to a recent study by researchers from universities in Brazil and the Netherlands, people who use their phones during their meals consume 15 percent more calories.

The researchers explained that browsing the smartphone while eating, leads to obesity, and a large number of diseases associated with it.

"Staring at the phone screen may make a person unaware of the amount of food he is eating," said Marcio Gilberto, the lead author of the study.

"Using the phone during eating leads to the consumption of more calories and fat without paying attention to it."

"Tablets and smartphones are a major source of distraction during eating times."

The study pointed out that such a deadly habit can have a greater impact on children.
