Iraq's Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi
Iraq's Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim on Friday discussed with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi the latest developments concerning bilateral relations between Baghdad and Amman.

In a phone call, the two ministers discussed the regional and international issues of mutual concern, and affirmed the importance of coordination and bilateral consultation in all matters of mutual interest to both countries," a statement by Iraq's foreign ministry said.

Oil agreement
Iraq and Jordan in February agreed a deal over the trade of oil and commodities at a meeting between the two prime ministers on the Iraqi-Jordanian border.
Under the deal, Iraq would sell 10,000 barrels per day of oil to Jordan at a special price, transported by tanker from its Kirkuk oilfields, the Jordanian prime minister’s office said in a statement. It did not say what the price was or when the oil would be exported.
Iraqi goods imported via Jordan’s Aqaba port on the Red Sea would meanwhile receive preferential tariffs, it said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi, who said on Tuesday the deal was close to being reached, finalized the agreement in a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Omar Razzaz.

Aqaba port at the north end of the Red Sea has long been a major transit route for Iraqi imports and exports, and Amman has long relied on Iraqi crude to fuel its economy.

Razzaz’s office also said Jordan would begin to export electricity to Iraq within the next two years.

Abd al-Mahdi said the government aims to decrease dependency on oil exports for state revenue. Oil exports from OPEC’s second-largest producer account for more than 95 percent of state revenues.

Tarbil Border crossing
The opening of the Tarbil border crossing between Iraq and Jordan over the weekend has stirred debate in Baghdad over the purpose of the agreement.

Iraqi MP Abdullah al-Khraybit said in press remarks that the deal offers more job opportunities for the residents of Anbar and will help the fight against terrorism.

“The fight needed such bold decisions,” he remarked.

The deal will also see Jordan increase its security cooperation with Iraq and dedicate intelligence efforts to securing the eastern borders, he said.

3-8-2019   Newshound Guru Adam Montana   This is a topic we've been on top of since 2017, before the talk of OPEC agreeing to slowing oil production. The headlines would be more accurate if they said "Planned reduction in oil production to stabilize prices"  But that doesn't get as many clicks, it's just not as sensational...even though it's the truth. And we've been expecting it, because we have been watching this sector through a fairly specialized set of glasses.  Interpretation: All is going according to plan.  And if all is going according to plan, then it's just a matter of time.   ... we're not going to have an RV in the next couple days.   Unless I'm wrong. I'm always open to that possibility!  [post 2 of 2]

3-8-2019   Newshound Guru Adam Montana    This has been an interesting week in the markets, but not so much for Dinar when it comes to actual news.  There's a good reason for this. Oil has been pretty flat, just like the news on HCL. Step back and take a "big picture" view of the situation, and it's easy to understand that this is to be expected. I find it amusing to read the headlines that state "Oil production falls to (X time frame) lows..."  Hang on a second, oil "falls"?! That's the headline? I don't think that's accurate. It's not "falling" - it's being controlled, exactly as they planned. [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

3-8-2019   Intel Guru Bruce   We are about the end of our 48-hour window I talked about on Tuesday that would theoretically expire by now, but these things keep moving and we have to be ready to receive that if this thing is moving and not always moving forward in our favor...Is there a way for us to get started before the weekend which would be tomorrow [Friday]?   Possibly. ...All I can tell you is we are hearing some very good things that are happening tonight [Thursday]late and possibly overnight. Iraq is one of them. Let’s see how it goes for us. We know we are underway.  [post 3 of 3]

3-8-2019   Intel Guru Bruce  What is interesting to me...we know what the dinar was when it came off the screen and where it may come back to when it comes back on the screens, but most interesting to me is China has wanted the Vietnam Dong to be comparable to the Iraqi Dinar. That could be within 5% of the Dinar value...it does not say on par with which would mean exactly the same value, but comparable could be close to the value of the Iraqi Dinar. That takes the Dong way up above what we all thought that the Dong could be worth. Makes it quite interesting for us because we are looking at the Dinar that may come out at the $7 - $8 range when it comes out initially...  [post 2 of 3....stay tuned]

3-8-2019   Intel Guru Bruce   ...Just when you thought it was safe to forget about Iraq, they are back...in the news. ...They have not had their rate on the screens...It hasn’t been on for at least 4 to 5 days?  ...Should be back up somewhere around 11 o’clock or so tonight [Thursday]...  ...Tomorrow [Friday]...they are supposed to release their ATM machines. They are supposed to pay on their new Qi, debit cards...  When will they put their rate outWill they put their rate out at that time?   I do not know, but their cards will be working and their cards will have the rate on them. In a sense yes, but I think they will make it known probably make in the Gazette on Saturday. That is their regular publishing day. [post 1 of 3....stay tuned]

3-8-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat   They are not raising the rate (NO REVALUATION). ...They are going to reinstate the dinar and must fist complete the project to delete the zeros. A result of this process will be an increased new rate on the currency exchanges. Once reinstated the market will drive the rate up on the float. So our concentration is not so much on a rate increase but on a reinstatement process, the rate on FOREX will be the end result...  [post 2 of 2]

3-8-2019 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat [GOI has nothing to do with raising the rate...it is a total CBI decision.] Oh yes they do...I presented about 6 articles already from the Iraqi news media from members of the parliament, cabinet and economists in Iraq. All say it is a joint decision to go ahead with the project to delete the zeros. It just happens right now they are moving ahead rapidly on it. ...Dr Sianni Shabibi...said and I quote- "there must be a joint effort to make the decision and the CBI and GOI must work together" - but out of curtesy and not by legal commitment. This means the GOI may influence the decisions and has to pass laws to help the CBI with monetary policy. But the CBI make the final call, The CBI does not run the govt the GOI does. The CBI needs these banking reforms, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist laws, etc...So in this regard Shabibi knew darn well they must work together... [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi: The martyr of the wise mihrab is present in us with his words, principles, values and sacrifices

In the name of of Allah the Merciful
(Do not think those who were killed in the way of God dead, but live when their Lord will live .. Believe God Almighty)

On the first day of Rajab 16 years ago, Takfiri terrorism assassinated Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim Qods Sarh al-Sharif. The martyr was killed in anticipation of Friday prayers in Najaf next to the grave of his grandfather, the Commander of the Faithful. The murderers learned that those who assassinate him are the man of science, wisdom, courage, insight and creative attitudes. Assassinated a symbol and reference to the Iraqi people and the world in the fight against the unjust regime and tried to silence the tongue of the Iraqi people to remove the country from the situation led by the policy of adventure and tyranny, racism and sectarian abhorrent. We left the martyr with his blood and flesh, but he grew up among us with his words and principles and what he planted in the hearts of our people of values, principles and policies that will never die. His words and his positions on the importance of ending the occupation, the importance of unity, organizing the ranks, and standing with the supreme religious authority and all the good and effective forces in our people without any distinction or differentiation are still alive and present before us. The martyr has long believed and has many prominent writings, speeches and lectures that have graced successive generations in the importance of establishing the proper constitutional and legal foundations for building a just and decent state, the rights and the victory of the oppressed, the poor and the deprived. The martyr has long worked to unite the ranks of our people in all its forms. He worked to unify the word and to develop the proper curricula and principles that we are inspired today to move forward in the fight against terrorism and violence, and on the path of reconstruction and reconstruction.

On the day of the Iraqi martyr on the first of Rajab, we reaffirm our steadfastness on the method followed by the martyr of the wise mihrab and the rest of the martyrs of the scholars and the followers of all the sects of our people, whether injustice or tyranny or terrorism and violence. Without sacrifices, success will not be achieved. The time has come for all these great sacrifices for our people to enjoy security, prosperity and rights. We once again congratulate our people and our condolences to the family of the Al-Hakim who presented the Martyr after the Martyr and his tongue says that the killing is usually ours and our dignity is God's testimony.
{بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم .. الاعتاجية الى السمئة الرمضانية .. Return to your Lord.
