The Israeli perception of Iraq has evolved: "Crowding" and resistance are a constant concern
Saturday 18 May
Such as the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 the origin of strategic Israeli bets (AFP)
The victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979 marked a break in the evolution of Israel's perception of Iraq's position and role in Tel Aviv's regional strategy. Before the revolution in Iran, Iraq was a potential source of threat, as it represented an Arab strategic depth for Syria and the Eastern Front. After the fall of the Shah and the establishment of a regime totally hostile to the Zionist entity, the Israeli view of Iraq is made up of a constant source of threat, and at the same time a strategic buffer zone and a deterrent to Iran. With regard to this regional innovator, Iraq has become the regional power on which the West and Israel have bet on confronting Iran with the aim of overthrowing it, and later to contain it. From the Israeli perspective, the Iran-Iraq war, which lasted about eight years, was an opportunity to drain and occupy the two countries. An opportunity exploited by Tel Aviv in 1981 to decide to destroy the Iraqi nuclear reactor without any practical punishment.
But the failure of the American plan in Iraq and the region, and then the withdrawal from Iraq without being able to impose a political system that adopts US policy, specifically in the face of Iran and Syria, dispelled Israeli hopes regarding the eastern front, and the entity of the enemy in front of a new strategic reality, Of the Iraqi political system has become very clear in the position of the Arab international plan to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. This prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to warn, in his address to the Knesset on December 28, 2011, that "the new situation that is emerging in Iraq would make Israel face the challenges of the East (reference to the Eastern Front) in a way we did not meet We have not dealt with it for almost 10 years, "and what it might represent later in light of the possibility of revitalizing the Eastern Front, as well as highlighting the growing importance of Jordan as a buffer zone in the face of Iraq.
At a later stage, a new Israeli bet was formed in the role played by the organization «Da'ash» in the depletion of the axis of resistance, and the possibility that this constitutes a barrier to Iran and the axis of resistance, as expressed by Netanyahu on several occasions, "Advocated" the strengthening of the axis led by Iran, and that an operational policy should be adopted to allow the containment of the parties. Less than a week after the same date, Netanyahu stressed that "the greatest threat is not a preacher, but from the Shiite fundamentalist party," referring to Iran and its allies. He then repeated the same positions in the years that followed. But the problem of Tel Aviv that the failure of the bet on «urging» to drop the axis of resistance and containment also led to the crystallization of regional power in Iraq, the «popular mobilization» and the resistance factions, which are part of the axis of the counter.
In the face of this reality, Iraq has become in the Israeli consciousness and the accounts of the security establishment has a defense force proved effective in the field, in exchange for the most lethal and destructive terrorist organization. Its role is not only to create a dam against any attempt to use Iraq as a platform to contain and attack Iran, but also as a regional power that has played its role in the Syrian arena against armed and terrorist groups.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the United States, at the head of an international coalition, led to the destruction of Iraq's economic and military infrastructure after its military occupation of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, followed by the adoption of a strategy of "dual containment" . The collapse of the eastern camp and the destruction of Iraq, for the Jewish state, including the right-wing Likud party, represent an opportunity to impose a formula for a settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict that meets Israeli demands and aspirations.
George W. Bush's presidency of the United States in early 2001 and his neo-conservatives left a shift in the US view of Iraq. Washington, driven by a range of backgrounds, moved to the occupation of Iraq with its enormous oil wealth, Geographically and strategically towards Iran, Syria and the oil states in the Gulf ... with the aim of rooting and consolidating the hegemony over the region and the world. The US occupation of Iraq in 2003 represented the origin of strategic Israeli bets that reached the skyline. Tel Aviv considered that this would strengthen its strategic position in the region and boosted the bets on removing the possibility of re-shaping the Eastern Front in the foreseeable future, The hopes of the Syrian regime and the elimination of Hezbollah, as revealed by the head of military intelligence, Major General Amos Yadlin (2006-2010), were expressed in his speech before the National Security Research Institute, which he heads on the occasion of the decade of the Second Lebanon War, N to impose a final settlement on the Palestinian track formula.

Iraqi Airways announced that it will resume its flights from Baghdad to the Syrian capital Damascus on Saturday after an 8-year break.

A study that resolves the debate about the benefits of coal for teeth
BAGHDAD, May 16 (UPI) - The prevalence of coal toothpaste among consumers is growing, thanks to marketing campaigns organized by its manufacturers, promising healthy, white teeth.
Although these companies claim the many benefits of this type of toothpaste, a recent study by King's College in London, in cooperation with Manchester University, called it the fruit of "marketing tricks" and "old folklore."
The study showed that there is no evidence of the ability of coal paste to whiten the teeth more than regular pastes, in addition to the risk of exposing teeth to decay.
The name of the coal claims to be able to naturally extract toxins from the gum, as well as to remove stains, but according to the scientists who supervised the study lacks an important element of dental health, "fluoride", which plays an important role in the elimination of decay and removal of the layer "plaque."
