Baghdad: «Gulf», agencies
On Tuesday evening, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made an unannounced visit to Baghdad in order to confront Iran's "escalation," in which he snatched from Iraqi officials a pledge to "protect the interests of the United States" and ensure the safety of US diplomatic and military personnel in their country.
Pompeo canceled a visit to Germany to go to Baghdad, which has close ties to Iran. During the four-hour visit, the US minister met with President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
He stressed that the United States is an important strategic partner for Iraq, and that Iraq continues its balanced policy, which builds bridges of friendship and cooperation with all friends and neighbors, stressing Iraq's desire to develop relations with the United States and with other neighboring countries and friends in various fields. He stressed Abdul-Mahdi that «Iraq builds relations with everyone on the basis of the interests of Iraq first and work to deepen the participants without stopping at the differences». President Barham Salih also stressed that Iraq is building its relations with all on the basis of priorities of its interests and working to deepen the participants.
"We talked about the importance of Iraq ensuring its ability to provide adequate protection for Americans in their country," Pompeo told reporters accompanying him on the trip. "Iraqi officials have shown me that they understand that this is their responsibility." He added that he made the visit to Iraq because Iran is "stepping up its activity" despite its refusal to discuss the intelligence in detail. "We wanted to tell them about the growing threat we saw and give them a little more background about it so that they can confirm that they are doing everything they can to protect our team," Pompeo said. The visit came two days after the United States warned Iran that it would respond with "strong force" to any attack and considered sending the USS Abraham Lincoln to send a "clear and unambiguous message" to Tehran.Salehi: "We can reach 20% enrichment within 4 days"

Salehi: "We can reach 20% enrichment within 4 days"
09/05/2019 1:50 am
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) chief Ali Akbar Salehi said the possibility of a return to the pre-nuclear agreement in a short period of time was available and if the decision was made, Iran could reach 20 percent enrichment within four days.
Salehi said the United States claimed Iran was not complying with the nuclear deal, but the IAEA's 14 reports refuted that claim. The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization referred to US allegations that Iran was interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, adding that they had tried to link the issue to the nuclear agreement, but that had not happened to them. He pointed out that the United States then raised the missile issue to link the nuclear agreement, but the agreement, in particular in accordance with UN resolution 2231 includes a supplement on the missile shows the subject completely that nothing to do with the agreement.
He said that while putting all these issues together we see that the United States has tried since the exit of the nuclear agreement to trap us and play in its court and then run things as you like. He added that Iran, through its actions and its patience, has revealed their hypocritical behavior. "The nuclear industry in all its dimensions, whether in enrichment, research and development, heavy water production, modernization of the Arak reactor, exploration and extraction, is proceeding well, and when the orders are issued by the senior officials, we will vigorously activate them," he said. "If we decide to enrich uranium by 20 percent, we can do so within four days and at an acceptable level," he said.
In response to a question about Oman's heavy water reserves in Oman, Salehi said, "We are constantly producing heavy water and the amount of storage we have in Amman will remain the same." "Before this time, we were selling a significant amount of heavy water in excess of 130 kg for foreign customers, but according to the instructions given by the president, we will no longer commit ourselves to a ceiling of 130 kg," he said.

5-8-2019 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat "IMF STAFF COMPLETES 2019 ARTICLE IV MISSION ON IRAQ" This is the article IV consultation session we have been waiting for since last year and it was postponed twice in 2018. We knew any reinstatement could not occur outside of the early January-march period without this last consultation. Now we have it. ...Am I saying the reinstatement is now free to go? No, there are still approvals and the will of the CBI and the Finance Committee to approve it and go ahead. There are no signs they intend to do this now. But at least now we know we are getting closer and there are possibilities.

Now I have heard of a few rates. I cannot give rates this time. They do not want those out there, but I can tell you if you remember the last time when we talked about the Dinar is higher than it was then. Iraq should put out tomorrow this final disclosure in the Gazette of whatever they are doing with their Parliament, and quite possibly their new rate on the Iraqi Dinar. Moroccans boycott onions during Ramadan. Find out why
2019/5/7 14:23
[Follow-up]
Moroccan activists launched a campaign to boycott onion because of high prices, the first day of Ramadan, which falls on Tuesday in the Kingdom.
The social networking sites in Morocco called for a "Khayla Yakhnaz" which means "let it spoil". He called on activists not to buy onions and other items that were known to rise in price due to the demand of citizens during the month of Ramadan.
The price of onions reached 15 dirhams ($ 5.3) per kilogram, and activists considered the price high, after it was less than 6 dirhams (0.6 dollars) per kilogram weeks ago.
"Unfortunately, the prevailing culture among the installment traders during Ramadan is the increase, which does not include wholesale markets," Moroccan minister in charge of public affairs and governance, Lahcen Daoudi, told parliament on Monday.
"The authorities in his country are watching the wholesale markets and can not watch the installment traders," Daoudi said.
"Citizens are contributing to higher prices through the high demand for purchase, which sometimes exceeds their needs during the early days of Ramadan," he said.
He explained that: "There is an exploitation of the high demand for food, in order to increase prices," and called on citizens to contact the authorities in case of inspection of monopoly or corrupt materials.
