Over 50 Iraqi authorities involved in oil smuggling
2019/5/1
Calls for investigating the corruption within the Oil Ministry have recently increased in the wake of squandering the public money.
Corruption within the ministry has reached levels that threatens the Iraqi economy.
This was clearly explained by MP Youssef al-Kalabi who urged the Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi to take strict measures to stop the corruption and wasting of public money in the ministry.
Kalabi addressed Abd al-Mahdi saying “the corruption and squandering of public money in the ministry cannot be unaddressed.” He indicated completing the questioning of oil minister in the parliament.”
The integrity committee was not the only one that hinted to that issue, but also the parliament’s monitoring committee, which watched implementation of the government’s program. It confirmed that Abd al-Mahdi’s government failed to achieve the biggest part of its program, especially the part on the corruption in oil ministry and limiting the oil smuggling.
The oil smuggling takes place continuously via air and sea through the border exits without action by the government.
Al-Nasr alliance, led by the former Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, confirmed that Abdul Mahdi’s government remained away from strict measures in the pivotal issues, especially in controlling the border exits and smuggling of oil.
MP Fallah Abdul-Karim, from the same alliance, said in remarks that the current phase requires that Abd al-Mahdi takes strict measures and stay away from pressures by the political blocs.
In this regard, informed sources said official US authorities offered Iraq by end of March a report on oil smuggling, at which 56 Iraqi authorities were involved, with estimated sums of around $4 billion.
Sources said that the US officials provided the previous government of Abadi and current government with detailed information on the smuggling of oil and authorities involved.
Ten authorities, currently at the government, are involved in the smuggling through senior officials.
Moreover, the information showed that 40 armed authorities take part in the smuggling, and that they fund their activities with million of US dollars from revenues of the smuggling.
Those armed authorities carry out the smuggling through the southern and western borders and send it toward the United Arab Emirates, while the northern borders are used by Kurdish authorities to smuggle oil from the wells in Kirkuk and Kurdistan toward Iran. .

Kurdistan region: severing relations with Iran is difficult and we will abide by the decision of Baghdad
2019/5/1
(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Tehran said that US officials do not want to continue trade and economic relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan region with Iran, and have informed officials in Iraq and the region this.
He added that the severing of these relations is "difficult" indicating that "Iraq has the right to continue its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran to protect its interests and trade."
The talks and warnings of US officials "include Iraq in most of them and not the Kurdistan region," because the answer of officials of the Kurdistan Regional Government to US officials would be at best: "We will abide by the decisions of Baghdad." He said that the Kurdistan Regional Government has followed a balanced and wise policy towards the problems between America and Iran. "The Kurdistan Regional Government dealt in parallel with the two parties, because it knows that it is difficult for them to decide to sever trade relations with Iran unilaterally." On the export of oil from the Kurdistan region to Iran, Omar said: "The Kurdistan Regional Government has not yet launched a real oil trade with Iran, and is committed to the export of oil through the official methods allowed, and what is the export of small quantities by private companies, The importer is a daily requirement that local refineries can not provide. " He pointed out that "the American pressure to stop trade with Iran, targeting most of Iraq and not the Kurdistan region." Nazem Omar said that any economic sanctions have a negative impact on the target country, "but Iran has not yet reached the limit of thinking of surrender or collapse, because Iran has a long experience with sanctions." On April 22, US President Donald Trump decided to lift the exemption from US sanctions on five countries when buying Iranian oil from next May. The White House announced that exemptions from the sanctions imposed on Iran and granted to Turkey, China, India, Japan and South Korea will not be renewed when it expires on Thursday. This decision aims to reduce Iranian oil exports to zero and deprive Iran of its main source of income. Trump re-imposed sanctions on Iran after the United States withdrew from the nuclear deal. Under a nuclear deal signed with six major powers in 2015, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear activities and allow international inspectors to monitor and inspect its nuclear reactors in return for easing sanctions. When the second phase of the US sanctions against Iran began, Iraq, China, India, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Turkey and Taiwan were excluded from dealing with Iran, but the US decided not to extend the exemption to any country after May 2, The information available that US officials have been upset during the past period of continuing trade exchange between Iraq and Iran to a high degree, especially the export of oil to Iran by tanks, and have blamed officials in the Kurdistan region because of it. In the second round of sanctions, which targeted the sectors of banks, industry, metals and the Iranian auto industry, the second phase mainly targets Iran's economic relations and America wants to cut off Iran's relations. With the outside world, and that is why all the US sanctions imposed on Iran have been reactivated since 2012. It ended Official: Iran's patience is running out
2019/5/1
(AFP) - Iran's patience is running out, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghji said Tuesday at the Turkish Strategic Thought Institute in Ankara.
He said that the nuclear agreement was a security agreement rather than an economic and has a link with the whole world. At the same time that the nuclear agreement was jeopardized by the American position, the possibility of ending it is at any moment.
Erdogan, who is visiting Ankara for political talks between Iran and Turkey, said that although the agreement was reached between Iran and the group of five countries, it was originally an agreement on the international community as a whole. Arajji stressed that the nuclear deal is the only success of diplomacy in the region and said that America's exit from the nuclear agreement is contrary to UN Security Council resolutions and led to reducing Iran's trust in international agreements because the United States wants to eliminate the only success of diplomacy in the region. "I think the region will be in a better position without this agreement," he said. "No one believes in this belief," he said. "American positions have led to a reduction in the level of confidence in international agreements." He noted that the Revolutionary Guards were included in the list of terrorism by the United States, warning against the danger of confrontation between the Revolutionary Guards and the US in the Gulf. He said that these two forces, each considered a terrorist group, could clash with each other in the Persian Gulf or another region. About this situation. He also pointed to the financial mechanism of the European Union for Iran after the United States came out of the nuclear agreement and said that despite the establishment of this mechanism, it has not entered into force until now

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi: Labor Day is an occasion to raise the value of work that brings stability and prosperity
The anniversary of the first of May, the International Workers' Day, falls on the Iraqis this year. They face a serious challenge and great opportunities for the building and reconstruction of our beloved country after our great victory over terrorism.
The first of May is an occasion to enhance the value of work without which economic and security stability will not be entrenched. It is also an important opportunity to strengthen all efforts to ensure that the working environment, whether in the private or public sector, is a healthy and legal environment and protects the rights of workers. And the protection of unemployment, treatment and occupational stability, and achieve the conditions of occupational safety and health within the work environment, and training and continuous development, and provide them with an environment that respects their rights and the rights of their families,
And not better than the first of May as a global occasion to confirm Iraq's commitment to the global charters that regulate the working environment and protect the trade union frameworks in various tracks of labor activity in order to ensure sustainable development, which we rely on in promoting the progress of Iraq, which defeated terrorism, and returned the land and people to the entity of the Iraqi state , And ended the existence of the state of myth and all of the hanging of the crimes are ugly.
The Iraqis have defeated a nascent organization in order to win their reality, their future and their stability, and to be a sign of prosperity is the first feature of Iraq among nations.
Every year, the workers of Iraq and its people are fine and up.

Abdul Mahdi on the appearance of Baghdadi [Images in a remote]
2019/4/30 16:26
[Follow-up]
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said on Tuesday that the appearance of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the terrorist group "Da'ash" in a video, was an attempt to support his supporters.
"The video that appeared in al-Baghdadi was filmed in a remote and isolated area," he said, adding that "the capabilities of (Daqash) diminished, but is still a threat and will try to carry out more attacks."
Baghdadi had appeared for the first time in five years in a video released by Al-Furqan propaganda organization with a white beard and others who hid their faces. He acknowledged defeat of the terrorist organization last month in his last stronghold in Baguoz and threatened reprisals.
After al-Baghdadi appeared in the video, the United States pledged on Monday to hunt down leaders who were "shaken" and defeated. A US State Department spokesman said the US-led coalition against the extremist organization would fight all over the world to "ensure a permanent defeat for these terrorists and bring their leaders who are still at large to justice to receive the punishment they deserve."
During the video, the leader of Da'ash said that the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka, which left more than 250 people dead, were a revenge for the disbanding of the Baguoz in eastern Syria.
He added that the terrorist organization carried out 92 operations in eight countries in response to the losses suffered, without giving a time frame for the attacks. The last recorded audiotape of al-Baghdadi was issued in August 2018.

World experts reveal the secret of the emergence of Baghdadi after five years of retreat
BAGHDAD, May 1 (Reuters) - Experts believe a broadcast on Monday by a video of a man said to be Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi could create a new phase in the group's work after the fall of the so-called Caliphate.
why now?
Al-Baghdadi had previously appeared for the first and last time in public in 2014 in the city of Mosul, when he announced the establishment of the "Caliphate" in large areas in Iraq and Syria.
As was the last audio message attributed to him broadcast in August 2018 urging his followers to continue the "jihad", eight months after Iraq announced victory over the organization.
The video was released on Monday after more than a month after the militant group in the eastern province of Baguoz, the last bastion of pockets controlled by Syria's democratic forces in late March with support from Washington, was defeated.
The site, "Saite", the American Center for the control of extremist movements, and the Iraqi expert on the organization, Hisham al-Hashemi, that the man who appears in the recording is Baghdadi already.
Charles Lester, of the Middle East Institute, said: "It is Baghdadi's first videotape in five years and comes at a critical time for a terrorist organization that has just come out of a defeat." He said the organization was seeking to "re-establish itself as an international movement capable of carrying out large-scale attacks around the world."
Analyst Peter Nanninga says the goal is to "raise the spirits of his supporters by showing that the organization is still strong and that he is still a leader with power."
In the video broadcast on the Telegram application, the "leader" admits defeat in the Baguoz, asserting that the organization's fighters will "take revenge" and that "the battle of Islam and its people, with the cross and its people, is a long battle."
A new phase of organization?
Amarnath Amarasingham, a researcher at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, says the purpose of the word Baghdadi is to show that the group is undergoing a "transition period".
During this period, efforts will focus on "places outside Syria and Iraq," he said, although there are "sleeper cells" in these two countries still carrying out bloody attacks.
The organization claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Catholic churches and luxury hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Day on April 21, killing more than one person.
"Al-Baghdadi wants to emphasize that ideology has been transformed in an unprecedented way despite the loss of the land," said Charlie Winter, a researcher at King's College in London.
"This is not only a reminder that the Dahesh project is still alive, but it is more important than ever to highlight the organization through violence," Leicester said.
Baghdadi is still in control
Al-Baghdadi, who has been diagnosed with diabetes, has been wounded at least once, and his death has been reported a few times - the nickname "ghost" sometimes. Asked by AFP reporters as they left Baguoz, his supporters sometimes denounced their leader's silence as the last pockets of the organization collapsed.
Some experts believe the video is evidence that the organization's leader is still alive and in control of the jihadi group.
"There are a lot of rumors about al-Baghdadi's health," Leicester said. He looks very good and confident of himself. "
At the end of the video, he can be seen sitting at a meeting looking at files handed to him by a man who wrote "Yemen State", "Somalia State", "Caucasus State".
Ayman Jawad al-Tamimi, an expert in jihadist movements, says the video responds to criticism from inside the organization, which has described Baghdadi as the "absent leader."
"The video tries to show that it still controls the organization, and that it is aware of everything that is happening in Iraq and Syria, as well as abroad.
