4-7-2019   Newshound Guru G-Lin   ...I'm not sure exactly why they are bringing it back. Will they add amendments? Will any additional amendments address a rate? Everything is guess work at this stage and I'm sure that's deliberate.   They also changed the date on the introduction into Parl. again From Apr.10th to Apr. 17th.   I'm hoping we will learn a little more between now and the 17th. So we wait. But I like the direction this is taking. They just held a seminar on the deletion of zeros and that is encouraging. They definitely are talking about it...   [post 2 of 2]

4-7-2019 Intel/Newshound Guru sandyf [...in all the yrs! The rate has never been in the budget.] You are quite right, there is no rate in a budget. Iraq, like many other countries and businesses, must publish their accounts and budgets in both local currency and USD so there is a rate of exchange between the 2 versions. As far as Iraq is concerned the rate makes little difference to their income revenue and the USD budget, whatever the rate they would still only get the market price for a barrel of oil.

Presidency of the parliament: the opening of closed roads in Baghdad is a sovereign issue and will reflect the stability of the security situation

BAGHDAD, April 7 (Xinhua) - "The issue of continuing to open roads and closed areas in Baghdad and the rest of Iraq's cities is a sovereign matter," the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives said on Sunday. "It will be a clear message to the Iraqis first and all the world to restore our country and its security. Which must be operated by the security services to maintain and strengthen continuously and not only to what is achieved only.

Zebari: Iranian influence advanced years .. And Saudi openness came too late

April 8 - The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Hoshyar Zebari, praised Monday Saudi Arabia's openness to Iraq, but said it was "too late".

"The recent visit of the Saudi high-level ministerial delegation to Baghdad is welcome, but its timing is much delayed," Zebari said in an English translation.

"The visit came too late to rebalance Iraq's relations with Iran and Saudi Arabia. Iran's influence is years ahead of the Saudis and it is too late to try to pull Iraq out of this influence," he said.

On April 3, 2019, a large Saudi delegation visited Baghdad consisting of more than 100 personalities, including 9 ministers headed by Minister of Trade and Investment Majid al-Qasabi to resume the second session of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordinating Council in Baghdad and activate the role of Saudi Arabia in the investment, reconstruction and cooperation phase. In various fields.

Relations between the two countries have been tense and frozen as a result of the events of 1990, prompting the Saudi side to close the Iraqi oil pipeline, which was established in the 1980s, which transfers Iraqi crude to the Saudi port of Yanbu on the Red Sea.

The Iraqi-Saudi relations saw a breakthrough after Haidar al-Abadi took over as prime minister in conjunction with the formation of the US-led international coalition to fight Da'ash. Washington has put pressure on Riyadh to open up to Baghdad. These efforts culminated in Iraq's invitation to participate in a conference held in Jeddah in 2014 to coordinate the efforts of the war on terrorism according to the Gulf and Western sites.
