Foreign currency firms have been cashing in on the Bank Holiday rush as a reported two million people jetted off this weekend. The firms have been accused of paying an average rate of as little as 0.78 euros per £1 at airports.

How AI could diagnose Alzheimer’s
Advances PET scans of normal (left) and Alzheimer's (right) brains. An estimated 5.7 million people in the U.S. have Alzheimer’s disease—the most common type of dementia—and that number is expected to more than double by 2050. Early diagnosis is crucial for patients to benefit from the few therapies available. But no single assay or scan can deliver a conclusive diagnosis while a person is alive; instead doctors have to conduct numerous clinical and neuropsychological tests. So there is growing

The link between dementia and sleep
The Science of Health Among the many things that can shatter when Alzheimer’s disease tightens its grip is the steady rhythm of the body’s sleep-wake cycle. The problem is so common that one New York City nursing facility—the Hebrew Home at Riverdale—ran an all-night program for many years that took in afflicted community members for a dusk-to-dawn schedule of games, snacks, arts and crafts, and other activities so that their exhausted families could get some shut-eye. Troubled sleep often

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptians voted on Sunday for a second day on whether to back constitutional amendments that could see President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stay in power until 2030. The three-day referendum was called last week, a day after Egypt's 596-member parliament endorsed the draft amendments by 531 to 22. 4-23-2019   Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat   There is lots of chatter about the Dong currency and whether it is planned to revalue. Remember Vietnam was considered on the “underdeveloped” country list of the IMF and so it is one of these countries they want to bring forward because it has great potential...The State Bank of Vietnam has been giving us signals for almost a decade now that they plan to get rid of 3 or up to 4 zeros from their Dong currency. So, we know something is up. But what we don’t know is just exactly how they plan to do it.  [post 1 of 2....stay tuned]

So this is a good start. But there is also an investment law that needs revisions and to be passed also.

$ 60 million lost by her close associates
2019/4/22 21:48
[Baghdad-where]

The Integrity Commission on Monday announced the loss of nearly 60 million dollars from the budget of the province of Nineveh, embezzled by employees close to the governor of the prosecution, Nofal Aakoub before being dismissed from his post after the sinking of a ferry in Mosul.

On April 11, the Commission announced the seizure of 14 officials and staff in the office of the province of Nineveh, on charges of embezzlement and waste of state funds.

The Commission on Integrity revealed in its statement on Monday that employees close to the Ikob acquired more than 76 billion Iraqi dinars (about 64 million dollars) "in the form of instruments or deposits in personal accounts in the form of cash.

"Of the original amount, about 45 billion Iraqi dinars (about $ 37 million) are from the province's 2018 development funds," an official at the agency told AFP on condition of anonymity.

He pointed out that the Integrity Commission was able to recover about eight billion dinars (about six million dollars).

At the end of last March, the Iraqi parliament voted unanimously to dismiss the deputies and his deputies, following the sinking of a ferry in Mosul that claimed more than 100 people, mostly women and children.

The sinking of the ferry opened up the corruption files that devastated the devastated city following the war against a pro-Western organization that had budgeted $ 800 million.

While all the security forces in the country have been ordered to arrest the inmate, the latter is still a fugitive and is being interviewed by local television from the major cities of Iraqi Kurdistan, where he currently resides, according to officials.

Iraq has suffered years of corrupt corruption in its institutions, has caused corruption during the past 15 years lost 228 billion dollars went to the pockets of politicians and corrupt entrepreneurs, according to the Iraqi Council of Representatives. This amount today represents double the budget and more than the country's GDP.

Parliamentary efforts to force Maliki and Abadi and Araji to take the oath in parliament

BAGHDAD, April 22 (Reuters) - A coalition of Sunni Arabs has announced an amendment to the rules of procedure of parliament forcing the leaders of the Nasserist coalition, Haider al-Abadi, the law-maker Nuri al-Maliki and former interior minister Qassim al-Araji to sworn in as MPs.

"There are four vice-winners who did not recite the constitutional oath seven months after the fourth parliamentary session," MP Bader al-Ziyadi said, expressing surprise at the position of the Presidency of the House of Representatives, which did not take any position or decision to address this violation.

The constitution and even the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives did not address specific time limits for the constitutional oath of the winning deputy except as set forth in the constitutional article 50, which states that a member of the Chamber of Deputies shall be sworn before the Council before he begins his work.

The leader of the coalition of state law Nuri al-Maliki, the head of the coalition of victory Haider al-Abadi, the former interior minister and the deputy of the alliance Fath Qassim al-Araji, and the governor of Basra Asaad al-Eidani, sworn in as winners in the new parliament.

He added that the bloc will adopt an amendment to the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives specifying the time limits for the performance of the constitutional oath to overcome the node of this legal violation, which is exploited by some of the heads of parliamentary blocs.

The mini-parliamentary committee voted by the Chamber of Deputies in October last year did not complete its amendments to the articles and rules of the parliament's internal system, which completed nearly 72 articles out of 152. According to the committee's last statement.

Al-Zayadi said that "the reasons that delayed Abadi in repeating the oath as a deputy in the parliament is his ambition to return to the presidency of the government as well as Qasim Araji thinking of running the Ministry of Interior again," adding that "the head of a coalition of law Nuri al-Maliki, To the President of the Republic after the negotiations are settled signed for his coalition. "

In another context, MP Ziadi, that "a number of candidates losers in the parliamentary elections last May filed appeals before the legal department in the House of Representatives question the validity of the membership of (17) deputies."

"The parliament rejected nearly fourteen appeals and will decide the remaining three in the next parliamentary sessions if two thirds of the number of members and therefore entitled to objectors to lodge another appeal before the Federal Court to consider the validity of their complaint."

He pointed out that "every parliamentary session absent from attendance and participation of about one hundred deputies, which affects the failure to achieve the principle of two-thirds to decide whether or not to accept these appeals," stressing that "all these appeals related to the results of parliamentary elections last year." )

A fugitive prisoner to the Canary Islands delivers himself for a very strange reason!
2019/4/22 19:40
[Follow-up]

An Austrian prisoner escaped from captivity 10 years ago and managed to reach the Canary Islands, where he lived during that time on these charming islands, but recently made a surprise move that many people find impossible to imagine.

The 64-year-old man returned home and went to the police station at the railway station in Salzburg, the Associated Press news agency reported.

She said the man told the authorities that he was a runaway prisoner who had just arrived from Munich airport in neighboring Germany, where he surrendered for a strange reason. The man told police he had spent the last 10 and a half years on the island of Tenerife, a popular holiday island in the Canary archipelago, police said in a statement.

According to the police, the unidentified man wanted to go back home and enter prison again because "Tenerife is not as nice as before and has lived there long enough," and he is tired of living there.
The police verify that he escaped from a prison in eastern Austria and was transferred to a prison in Salzburg.
