Iraq, Saudi Arabia Ink 13 Agreements
Iraq has inked 13 agreements with Saudi Arabia as the relations between the two top OPEC oil producers have started to revive once again, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi's office said on Wednesday.
The announcement came after the Iraqi premier paid a visit to Riyadh on Wednesday where he met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz to discuss trade and economic relations regardless of the deteriorated ties between the two of Iraq’s neighbors, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Abdul-Mahdi was accompanied by a high-level delegation among whom were ministers and businessmen.
The two sides signed 13 agreements in the fields of energy, trade, and political coordination, the statement added, as cited by Kurdistan 24.

Iraqi MP Warns of Sale of Posts at Parliament

The other 5 matters were attended to, from what we can tell...5 out of 6 is a huge improvement over what we used to see out of Parliament! This is just another testament to the progress Iraq has made and continues to make. Oil...I know I don't have to harp on this, but oil is a big deal and Iraq is focused heavily. In fact, OIL wasn't even officially on the agenda for today's Parliament votes, yet it was still a heavy matter of discussion. I'm reading into that part. It wasn't even on the official agenda, but it was a major point of discussion. The goal, as stated by all reports, is to get affairs in order quickly. That makes sense to me, and I'm keeping a keen eye on things. And lastly I believe the CBI needs to accept the conditions of IMF Article VIII to allow freedom of movement of capital. In other words allow investors to get their profits out. These are not all mandatory but are significant enough to stop investors from bringing their capital to Iraq. Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi received at his residence at King Saud Palace in Riyadh Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, to discuss the development of relations between Iraq and the GCC countries and issues of mutual interest and enhance opportunities for security, stability and economic cooperation.
He stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council is important for Iraq and cooperation and economic relations should move forward for the better, pointing out that Iraq is keen to work within its Arab and Islamic environment and establish balanced relations to serve the interests of our peoples, and it is important that our environment stable and prosperous and we have many of the participants that gather us and start from them To build confidence, overcome differences and create good climate for cooperation.

Parliament decides to host the president and members of the Federal Court and end the reading of five laws

The House of Representatives, in its 11th session held under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed Halboussi, President of the Council on Wednesday, in the presence of 175 deputies, hosted the President and members of the Federal Supreme Court to inquire about some of the decisions issued therefrom, and ended reading five draft laws.
At the beginning of the session, the Presidency of the Council decided to postpone the consideration of the appeals submitted to the health of some members of the House of Representatives to a subsequent session, in need of a two-thirds majority of the members of the Council.
The Council postponed the vote on the draft Financial Management Law submitted by the Finance Committee to the meeting on the second of May to complete the discussion of the draft and the maturation of its articles before its legislation.
In the same regard, the Council completed the first reading of the draft law of the Information and Communication Authority, submitted by the Services, Reconstruction, Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities Committees, which aims to regulate the work in the means of communication and the preparation of the main broadcasting and media regulations and their accreditation in the granting of frequency licenses, Networks, interconnection, radio frequency spectrum, radios, wireless terminal equipment, user protection, information and standards of information work.
The first session of the council was chaired by Hassan al-Kaabi, the first deputy chairman of the council, to end the first reading of the draft law of the Supreme Iraqi Maritime Authority, submitted by the Services and Reconstruction Committee. The private sector to work in the field of maritime transport and upgrading the level of maritime services, and the establishment of the Supreme Iraqi Navy.

The Council completed the reading of a report and discussion of the draft Industrial Cities Law submitted by the Committee on Economy and Investment.
In the interventions of the deputies, the proposals and opinions stressed the importance of the participation of a representative of the government in meetings related to industry, determine the dependence of the Industrial Property Authority and its size, and demand the development of plans and study before embarking on the establishment of industrial cities and urged ministries and government agencies to facilitate the implementation of the law and the establishment of industrial cities, Demand to control the proportion of foreign workers in industrial cities and increase the proportion of national labor.
In response to the interventions, the committee stressed the importance of the existence of legislation and the environment for the establishment of industrial cities to attract investors to the Iraqi market and to ensure the rights of labor and revitalize the national industry, expressing their cooperation taking the proposals to consider and study.
