Iraq stops trading with Iran in dollar due to sanctions
Iraq, August 13, 2018
Iraq has stopped trading with Iran in the US dollar after Washington imposed economic sanctions on Tehran, according to the country’s central bank on Saturday.
The Central Bank of Iraq has notified to all banks in the country that using dollars with Iranian banks has been banned.
While there are sanctions on Iran, it will be difficult to preserve the trade relations [with Iran],” Iraqi government spokesman Saad al-Hadithi said.
New methods will be applied to ease the effects of the sanctions on trade, al-Hadithi added.
On Tuesday, the US had re-imposed the first round of economic sanctions on Iran, which mainly target the country’s banking sector.
The sanctions are intended to hinder Tehran’s acquisition of US currency; its precious metals trade; bank transactions denominated in the Iranian rial; activities related to Iran’s sovereign debt; and the country’s automotive sector.
In a tweet posted earlier this week, President Donald Trump wrote: “Anyone doing business with Iran will NOT be doing business with the United States. I am asking for WORLD PEACE, nothing less!”

8-12-2018 Newshound Guru MilitiaMan [Does The HCL have to be implemented before the RI/RV.] Imo, It has been for months now, just not literally yet. They have calculated the information necessary for them to have the HCL done and even activated by or on about September 5th per articles of recent... The calculation would be based on oil output that the IMF and even KPMG would have had already worked up. The citizens imo will be paid their share apparently on or around the 5th of September, but, that amount would be posted electronically to then [them ?] in new currency that can be loaded on cards. There is a recent article(s) that state just how serious it would be to tell them that the money is coming and for them to not follow through, would create even harsher protests... They know they are getting paid, and, imo, the international calculation / rate will be / maybe exposed long before that date. They just showed the specimens to the world and what that means to them and us.. It is for other countries to know what to look for... As in when we walk through the doors with those notes, they can verify what they are looking at...Amazing what is staring at us in the face.. IMO!!
8-12-2018 Newshound Guru Kaperoni [reference Guru Kaperoni post 8-11-2018] The announcement of...now offering immediate cash exchange is is not that much different from their normal policy other than the fact that you're getting cash immediately which eliminates corruption or trickery or scamming...they are now positioning themselves to become a player...What I mean by that is that they are announcing of sorts that they want to be a 'facilitator' and by offering on the spot cash they are removing the potential for scamming. I had stated several years ago when people ask me about cash out not to worry and that we will deal with it when it becomes relevant. So this is good news for us as dinar holders...it is still up to Iraq to transition to Article VIII and engage their banking system with the world financial system allowing the currency to appreciate.

He added that they are a "strategic mistake" but that Iraq "will abide by them." ...of course Abadi has to comply with the US request for these sanctions if he wants to be prime minister again. This is NOT such a bad thing...just so you know… This is all going to get real sticky and Iran will try anything to get the CBI funds. They are going to get real desperate with their neighbors. 8-12-2018 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat Yes, they are under great pressure to get rid of the Iranian influence in the political process more than ever. If they do not clean this up, it is only going to get real bad for Iraq once these sanctions kick in fully during November. ...much of this delay in getting the government formed is due to the efforts to clean out the corrupt politicians and Iranian influence... ...any corrupt Iranians in the Iraqi political process would play the same old games with the wealth from the CBI. They would use legitimate reconstruction contracts that never get completed and funds taken, fake banks, illegal banking loans to take funds out of the CBI reserves to give to the Iranian to help them through these sanctions, which are going to be the MOST severe yet placed on them come November. [post 2 of 3....stay tuned]
8-12-2018 Newshound/Intel Guru Mnt Goat So what is the impact going to be of these sanctions being put on Iran? ...we know that Iraq is desperately trying to stay neutral when it comes to Iran. There is significant gains for both countries by being trading partners. They have trading agreements and exporting to Iran can definitely help them through the embargo. But food is not all they want from Iraq. Now more then ever they want the US dollars. So where do these dollars come from? They come from the currency auctions of course and so you can see the need now for a greater push to clean up this side of the corruption and maybe even stop these auctions altogether. Conflicting news of Abadi's visit to Iran

[Where - Continue]
There were conflicting reports about the cancellation of the visit of Prime Minister Haider Abadi to Iran.
The newspaper Okaz Saudi Arabia quoted an Iraqi government official said on Monday that Abbadi, canceled a visit scheduled to Iran this week and will only visit Turkey, adding that the cancellation of the visit came because of the crowded schedule.
The Iraqi official said that the Iranian authorities insisted on Abbadi's visit without the integration of pre-preparation, but was canceled.
In the meantime, Iran announced that it refused to receive Abadi as a result of growing unease among Iranian political circles believes Abadi's commitment to US sanctions on Iran as a loss to a single outlet which Tehran relied on as a way out could reduce the direct impact of sanctions on the local economy.
It was scheduled to visit Abadi within the framework of a tour to Turkey as well, but the speed of denial of the Iranian Foreign Ministry for the visit reflected the desire of Tehran to distance itself from Abadi, as indicated by the unwillingness of the Iranians to give Abadi free political asset, amid the efforts of Iraqi political forces to form alliances to ensure their participation in Expected government ".
