Baghdad: Hamza Mustafa
Despite the declaration of the outgoing Iraqi government, the day before yesterday, that it began disbursing funds promised by Prime Minister Haider Abadi to the central and southern provinces, it seems that these funds did not convince the people of the southern cities to stop the protests.
The demonstrations continued in protest against corruption and poor services in Basra, Maysan, Muthana and Dhi Qar, and even in the capital Baghdad yesterday. The religious authority in Najaf, through its agent Ahmed al-Safi, during Friday sermon in Karbala, confirmed the right of protesters to claim rights. For things that require anger from a personal problem, social or economic, political or military, which he took out of his home to face this problem was anger under control is the wrath of Mamdouh ». "There are positive effects of anger."
On the other hand, the scope of claims in the province of Salah al-Din, the withdrawal of factions «crowd» after the kidnapping of sheikhs clan Khazraj and killed by gunmen reported sources belonging to «Asaib Ahl al-Haq», which denied responsibility. After demanding the province of Salah al-Din Ahmad al-Jubouri «to remove the factions« crowd »outside the province», the provincial council joined the list of claimants and called for "the removal of all armed factions from the province." The Salah al-Din Senate also joined those who demanded the withdrawal of the factions and called on the central government to "intervene and withdraw all non-affiliated factions under the banner of the armed forces to avoid further problems and clashes."

The Agriculture Ministry said on Friday that the country's agricultural sector had been hit by 50 percent drought and lack of water revenues.
"The agricultural sector was affected by the drought and the lack of water revenues entering the country during the summer season," said Undersecretary Mahdi al-Qaisi.

"The damage in the summer season will reduce the cultivated areas during the winter plan," Qaisi said.
The government decided last June to ban the planting of eight crops, including rice, corn and cotton, because of the water crisis.
For years, Iraq has been suffering from a steady decline in water revenues through the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, due to lack of rainfall in the winter season.
Iraq depends on water security mainly on the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and their tributaries.

Saturday, August 04, 2018
Chronic electricity cuts in Iraq have made households cope with relentless summer highs of 48 degrees Celsius, without a source of cool air. According to Aljazeera, life has become increasingly difficult as summers become hotter, while the power supply in her home decreases. "The worst part is the [summer] heat," says Umm Adil, the 42-year-old mother of four lives in Shawaka, a working-class neighborhood in central Baghdad, who explains that she only receives two to four hours of electricity a day.
"As soon as the electricity comes back, I switch on the air conditioner for my kids," she said.
Power shortages have become endemic in Iraq—a country wrecked by a series of conflicts that have devastated its infrastructure—forcing Iraqis to buy electricity from private entrepreneurs who run power generators that can be seen on most street corners. The problem was exacerbated earlier this month after Iran stopped supplying electricity to Iraq due to its own severe power shortages. Iran has also stopped 80-megawatts power supply to Pakistan, seriously affecting businesses millions of people in the entire Makran region, including Gwadar, Pasni, Turbat and Panjgur, The Nation reported.
Pakistan is importing about 100 MW from Iran under long-term contracts at about Rs11.57 per unit to meet electricity demand in the coastal region that has no access to the national grid because of long distances and commercial viability challenges.

The demonstrations continued for nearly a month, pushed Vice President Iyad Allawi, to call for the formation of a government of national salvation, what will be called a response from the "stream of wisdom," headed by Ammar al-Hakim. The leader of al-Hikma, Habib al-Turfi, Allawi and his call for forming a national salvation government means returning to pre-2003, stressing that the trend must be to correct the course of Iraq and serve its people. He explained in media statements that «Vice President Iyad Allawi has nothing other than the formation of a national rescue government, where he seeks to bring Iraq back after 2003». He added that «Allawi's proposal will not work, as it will remain Iraq on what it is all components demanding the rights», noting that «Iraq needs to save him from his dangerous situation and solve the problems». He stressed the need to "faith in the results of the elections and respect for the political process and form the government away from quotas," pointing out that «the political process will not be far from the quota of 100%».

The Trump administration on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, passed a ruling expanding the duration of short-term health insurance plans in a move that proponents hailed as providing relief to cost-burdened consumers on the individual market.
Short-term health plans will soon be sold for a term of as long as three years instead of the current three months. The rule will take effect this fall.
Traditionally, short-term plans have been used to bridge a coverage gap of a few months or less, typically for those in between jobs or in between school and a job. Wednesday's ruling says they could now be adopted as a longer-term solution - they can be renewed for up to 36 months.
The administration has praised short-term plans as a more affordable alternative to policies sold on the state and federal marketplaces of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. In 2017, average monthly premiums increased by 21%, pricing many consumers, especially those who make too much to qualify for premium subsidies, out of the market, according to a recent government report.
Short-term plans can in fact be much less expensive than Obamacare plans: the cheapest short-term plans generally cost hundreds of dollars less, per month, than the lowest-cost Obamacare plan in the same area. You read right. Health insurance for dramatically less than what you are paying now!
Plus, if you are a business owner, these new low premium payments are also fully tax deductible.
But short-term plans are cheaper for a reason, and as such carriers can reject those with pre-existing conditions or issue policies that exclude treatment for the policyholder's pre-existing condition.
If you are a fairly healthy family with minimal pre-existing conditions, this new type of health care plan is worth investigating. You will save hundreds of dollars per month in insurance premiums. We have health insurance experts in our office. Call us with any questions.

"The damage will negatively affect the agricultural plan for the winter season, which the ministry is still working on," he said.

A magic drink .. saves you from bad breath
A recent study by the University of Munich in Germany found that eating ginger tea can help people avoid bad breath.
Gingerol, which gives ginger its warm flavor, stimulates an enzyme in the mouth that breaks down substances that make it smell bad, and increases the level of enzymes needed to get rid of the odor 16 times in just a few seconds.
The researchers say the results could lead to the use of toothpaste and mouthwash made of the hot ingredient. The researchers found that ginger can help study how food affects the behavior of molecules in saliva. They found that the levels of an enzyme called "sulfhydryl oxidase 1" rose to 16 times only seconds after ingestion of "Gingerol".
Ginger can also eliminate long-lasting flavors, resulting from drinking beverages such as coffee.
Professor Thomas Hoffman, who led the study, said: "Companies that manufacture mouth-cleaning products of bad smell can benefit from this study to rely on ginger in the future."
However, the amount of ginger needed per person is not clear, in order to produce the desired effect.
The new study adds to previous claims about the health benefits of ginger. In May of this year, researchers said that ginger can help children with stomach problems.
A study conducted by the University of Naples that "children with gastroenteritis can be given drops of ginger to reduce the severity of vomiting."
